They took over Wales last week and this week the Scottish marauders have made their way to the doorstep of her majesty the queen this week ICW fight club come to you from London England. With the shift in venue we have the debut in ICW of one of my favourite UK performers the Body Guy Roy Johnson and his wasteman challenge and in our main event we see Jack Jester vs Wolfgang in a fall count anywhere match, its a british wrestling show so you know these boys are going to end up in the crowd and quite possibly out on the streets of London. We kick things off tonight with the Scottish Savage Davey Blaze against the Oddity BT Gunn.
Davey Blaze vs BT Gunn **
Crowd very much behind BT Gunn as we get underway here, collar and elbow tie up leads to Gunn backing Blaze to the corner, Blaze claims that Gunn is pulling his hair so BT gives his belly a jiggle before breaking the hold. Blaze proclaims himself the best looking wrestler on the show, BT and the crowd share in a chuckle. Another collar and elbow tie up which leads to Blaze backing BT into the corner and then taking a cheap shot as he goes to break. They trade shoulder tackles and after reversing out of a back suplex Davey pushes Gunn into the ropes but he ducks under his attempt at a clothesline and then hits a crossbody and a series of grounded punches before clotheslining Davey to the floor.
BT Gunn fakes a slingshot crossbody and lands on the apron waiting for Davey to turn round and when he does he hits him with a solid PK from the apron. BT basks in the fans adulation then hops to the floor but gets caught by Blaze who lines him up with the ring post and goes to deliver a chop but BT moves and Blaze cracks his hand against the ring post. BT walks a complaining Blaze to the other post and goes to chop the life out of him, Blaze ducks but BT stops and taps the ring post to make Blaze think he hit it, Blaze stands up with a big smile on his face then gets the soul chopped out of his chest.
BT rolls Davey back inside but as he is getting back in Davey kicks the ropes and then comes off the ropes with a shoulder block sending Davey into the barricade he taunts the fans then rolls BT back in for a two count.
Blaze beats down BT with elbows but BT fights back to his feet with punches of his own only for Blaze to catch him coming off the ropes in a sweet tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for another two count. Blaze continues the beatdown with chops and punches until BT fires up through his punches and then fires back with one of his own and then a chop that sends Blaze into the ropes and as he comes back BT drops him with another huge chop. Gunn delivers a series of hard kicks to Blaze then shoots him to the corner but Blaze reverses and throws him to the corner Gunn gets his foot up and stumbles Blaze backward and he then rolls through into a face buster for a two count. BT walks Davey to the corner then delivers a double knee in the corner and climbs to the second rope calling for Davey to get up but as he does Blaze pulls the ref in the way and as BT Gunn drops down and moves the ref to safety Davey hits him with a hard low blow. Davey gets Gunn on his shoulders and then drops him into a cutter right in the middle of the ring but somehow BT kicks out at 2.
Davey charges to spear BT but BT moves and Davey hits the post, BT rolls him out of the corner and rolls with him hitting a head kick from the mat for a two count. Davey sits up and tells BT to suck it and eats a super kick for his troubles, BT hurks Davey up but he slips out of the back and sends Blaze to the ropes then hits a huge spinebuster for a two count Davey tries another quick pin but gets the same result.
Davey goes to the top and flies with a splash but BT moves and then hits him with a stiff superkick out of the corner like the heartbreak kid himself, he follows it up with a spring board cutter out of the corner (The Gunnshot) for the three count and the win.
Winner by Pinfall BT Gunn
Perfectly fine opening match lots of playing to the crowd not sure it really translates across to the viewing audience on demand however maybe better suited as a dark match or youtube exclusive for free to draw in interest. We cut to the back and find Wolfgang preparing for the main event later tonight. Wolfgang says he tonight will be Jack Jesters last ever night in ICW because ICW management have put him in a falls count anywhere match with the regulator who is on the tear of his life, he can take Jack Jester anywhere he wants and do whatever he likes. Whatever happens tonight is on the head of ICW management, he will not be held responsible for his actions.
Next up we have the star signing of Rudo Sports Promotions Grado taking on Stevie Boy, Stevie Boy is out first flanked by Kay Lee Ray. Grado saunters out mic in hand and runs through all the places we may recognise him from, one is received much less favourably than the rest a certain Nashville based company. Grado slowly walks around ringside running down the fans and London itself pointing out that their kebab shops are twice as dear and always stinking. He gets into the ring and Stevie Boy has a mic he squares up to Grado and asks him if he thinks he can get away with talking like that to all these people and talking about this city like that he gets right in Grados face and says you know what…..I fuckin agree with ya. The crowd roundly boos both men, Stevie says he hates the ferris wheel that London has and Grado says he hates that cunt Ben who tells the time. Grado follows up with his hatred of Eastenders and Sha Samuels. Grado says this crowd doesn’t deserve to see a match with them tonight but he is glad he is against Stevie and not Kay Lee Ray because she has the bigger balls in the relationship. Stevie is taken aback and mulls the insult over in his head for a moment then retorts that yes she may have bigger balls than him but Grado has bigger tits than her, the camera shoots to Kay Lee Ray as she reluctantly agrees. Grado puts his mic down but picks it right back up to get in the face of the ref who is sniggering in the corner, Grado pushes the ref who pushes him back over a crouching Stevie Boy the bells rings and Stevie gets a two count and the second match of the night is underway.
Grado vs Stevie Boy **
Grado takes a side headlock and when Stevie bounces him off the ropes he knocks him down with a shoulder block. Stevie tries to use his speed to get the advantage and manages to get a good slap into Grados face who stands there in the middle of the ring thinks about whens happening before going….no and walking out of the ring. He spots Kay Lee Ray and begins to grind his way towards her as she recoils in disgust, Stevie spins Grado around but Grado gives him an eye poke for his troubles, Kay Lee Ray then gets in Grados face and gets an eye poke herself, Grado takes too much time flipping off a fan and Stevie spins him around into an eye poke then rolls him back into the ring. Grado tries an elbow drop as Stevie comes back into the ring but Stevie dodges and climbs to the top rope. Grado stumbles into the ropes crotching Stevie on the to. Grado begins to lay the punches in and calls for the big elbow but thinks better of it Stevie dodges hits a heel kick but gets caught with a big lariat as he flies back towards Grado.
Grado lays Stevie throat first on the second rope and then guillotines Stevie boy between the rope and his leg twice before dropping down and getting a two count. Grado beats Stevie boy down in the corner and calls for the cannonball he gets into a war of words with Kay Lee Ray at ringside before exposing and slapping his belly and delivering a big cannonball to Stevie slumped in the corner. Kay Lee Ray gets into the ring and tries to lariat Grados head off but gets caught and spun around into a dip and Grado puckers up as she screams and tells him he’ll regret it and so Grado unceremoniously drops her to the mat an enraged Stevie charges Grado but gets a big back body drop for his troubles. Kay Lee Ray rises and begins to lay in punches to Grado before flipping him off and going for the big elbow but Grado kicks her right in between the legs. He does a double J strut and screams “I love you uncle Jeff” before turning round into a big kick between the legs by Kay Lee Ray and a big elbow, Stevie Boy scampers into the cover but only gets two.
Kay Lee Ray slides into the ring with a steel chair and goes to throw it in Grados face but Grado pulls Stevie Boy in the way and he eats it instead, Grado then grabs Kay Lee Ray and gives her the stroke in the middle of the ring and drops into the pin, the ref counts one, counts two and then remembers she isn’t in the match and informs Grado as such. Grado gets in the ref's face and turns round into a big superkick from Stevie Boy who then grabs the chair and gets in position for a Glasgow Destroyer but before he gets the chance, spooky music begins playing and a equally as spooky video plays on the video screens.
A masked Chris Renfrew calls through the curtain and in the ring Grado has gotten control and hits a stroke onto the chair for the three count.
Winner by Pinfall Grado
This match never really got going, the promo was better than the action, the crowd popped a little for Renfrew but when he just stopped on the ramp the crowd also stopped caring. After the match Grado celebrates and Chris Renfrew slides back through the curtain, this was not a patch on the previous angle between Mikey Whiplashes minion and Stevie Boy.
Next up was the Wasteman Challenge with Roy Johnson and this was probably the weakest incarnation of a Wasteman Challenge I’ve seen, the challenge was answered by Ravie Davie. The challenge didn’t seem to gel well with the crowd with some members of the audience trying to shout over the two which made it even harder to hear them over the house mics. Ravie Davie completely flubbed one of his lines and join the crowd in a you fucked up chant. The best line did come from Ravie Davie when he called Roy a poundland version of Big E. A brawl broke out and refs separated them as the crowd chanted let them fight and the segment that never really set the mics on fire, sizzled out disappointingly.
Next up we have the Alpha Male Iestyn Rees coming out for his catch of the day challange, unfortunately he tells us the guy who was scheduled to face him saw him warming up in the back and decided to grab his bag and run home so unfortunately he is going to have to find someone else to step in the ring with tonight and with that he puts his hand on the shoulder of champagne Simon Cassidy but he is interrupted by the music of Polo Promotions. Mark Coffey makes his way out from the back and enters the ring taking the mic from Rees he tells him to not touch his friend. He says that Rees has built up quite the reputation for himself as a bully but there is only one bully in ICW and that would be him. He tells Rees that he is going to teach him a few lessons about being a bully and asks him to hold the mic so he can remove his jacket and Mark Coffey uses this opportunity to get a cheap shot in on Rees with a stiff forearm to the chin and this surprise match is underway.
Iestyn Rees vs Mark Coffey ** 1/2
Coffey walks Rees around the turnbuckles delivering sick chops and punches to the mid section of the big man before Rees gets a boot up and uses the space to deliver a big shoulder block off the second rope before going to the mount and raining down punches on Coffey. Rees knocks some elbows into Coffey's head while he is down on one knee, Coffey tries to fight his way back up but the punches don’t effect Rees who then shoots him hard into the turnbuckles showing off his power advantage over the former Zero G Champion. Rees pulls Coffey to his feet and Coffey delivers a big chop but it again has no effect on the big man who slaps Coffey right in the ear knocking him off balance and to the mat again. Coffey again fights to his feet after a big lariat from Rees but just as it looks like Coffey is shifting the momentum Rees rakes his eyes and pushes him to the corner. Rees grins as he is admonished by the ref he then hits Coffey with an elbow in the corner before shooting him across the ring and Coffey crumples to the floor after hitting the turnbuckle at high speed. Rees picks Coffey up only to hit a snapmare and sit him down to then deliver a sliding european upper cut to the back of Coffey's head but he just barely gets a two count despite all the punishment he has dished out in the early going.
Coffey barely gets to his knees before Rees picks him up with ease and to add insult to injury delivers a scoop slam to the power forward before standing above him and taunting the crowd. Coffey crawls to his knees again and Rees picks him up looking to go for a suplex but Coffey rolls Rees up into a small package but barely gets a one count as the power of Rees shines through again. As they both get to their feet Rees punches Coffey square in the jaw knocking him to the turnbuckle and as Coffey pulls himself back to his feet Rees charges the corner for a big splash but as he leaves his feet Coffey moves and Rees hits the corner hard. Coffey sees an opening and charges Rees in the corner but the big man gets his boot up and goes to the well again trying for a shoulder tackle off the middle rope but there's no water in the pool as Coffey ducks under Rees and he splashes hard to the mat. They meet in the middle of the ring and it breaks down into a hockey fight with both men throwing bombs, Coffey hits a european upper cut and comes off the ropes for a lariat but Rees ducks and comes of the ropes with one of his own but now Coffey's speed comes into play as he ducks the lariat and hits a running european upper cut knocking the big man off his feet.
Coffey hits two big shoulder blocks on Rees and then a snap suplex on the big man and drops into the cover but he is shocked when Rees kicks out at one this late into the match. Coffey charges Rees in the corner and connects with a lariat but as he goes for another Rees gets his boot up and runs off the ropes only to be caught by a double axe handle to the chest by Coffey sending Rees flying. Coffey hits a bridging back suplex with ease on the big man dropping him right in the middle of the ring but only gets a two count. As Coffey sets up for a pump handle slam the Marauders Bird and Boar run out and onto the apron Bird gets in the ref's face and Coffey knocks Boar off the apron with a hard forearm but turns around into a huge spear from the Rees. Rees then picks Coffey up and hits a sit out driver for the pin.
Winner by pinfall Iestyn Rees
This was a perfectly fine match playing out the david and goliath story but we didn’t get to see enough of Coffey's come back to really get the crowd into the match. The majority of the match was quite slow and methodical, seeing as the crowd hadn’t really been up all night this caused the match to come across a little flat and with a bit more time I’m sure these two could put on a better match. After the match Bird and Boar celebrate with Rees in the ring and just as Rees is about to pick Coffey up for the catch of the day snapshot his tag team partner runs in for the save hitting Rees with a big forearm sending him and the Marauders running. The two teams stare each other down before Bird and Boar leave with Rees and Jackie Polo grabs a mic. Jackie keeps it short and sweet telling Bird and Boar that Polo Promotions are calling them out any time any place because who bad? We bad. He leads the crowd in a round of applause for his tag team partner as we cut to the back and see Wolfgang and Jack Jester making their way to the ring for our main event of the evening. But before that we see Jackie helping Mark to the back and he leaves him in the dressing room with Kenny Williams saying he is going to go sort out Bird and Boar. Jackie walks briskly to the other dressing room catching Mike Bird unaware and actually getting the better of him knocking him to the ground and laying in kicks but the other Marauders hear the commotion and come running and it turns into a three on one beating. Mike Bird grabs Jackie and tells him they haven’t earnt fuck all and need to know their place, at Shugs Hoose Party if he really wants them that badly he can have them but that means al three of them, he tells Jackie to come if he has the balls to and if he has any friends to bring them aswell. With that the three of them resume the beat down and leave Jackie laying in the hallway.
Wolfgang vs Jack Jester ***
We’re now back in the ring for the introductions of our main event of the evening. Wolfgang goes straight to the dirty tactics from the first bell taking his jacket and putting it over Jester's head while delivering knees and punches in the corner. Wolfgang ties up Jester in the ropes and delivers more punishment but Jester gets out of it and fights back with hard punches before delivering a lariat in the corner then a scoop slam and then finally a big standing elbow drop for a one count. Jester goes to the second rope but unbeknownst to him Wolfgang has slipped on his brass knucks and as Jester comes off the top and Wolfgang pounds him in the injured ribs. Wolfgang works over the ribs with his brass knuckles hanging Jester in the ropes to completely expose the ribs before slotting them safely back into his knee pad. Jester recovers as Wolfgang wastes time and he fights back with some punches but as he comes off the ropes Wolfgang catches him in a sidewalk slam for a two count.
Wolfgang uses the turnbuckles to full effect working over the ribs by whipping in Jester hard and then using multiple shoulder blocks in the corner. Jester slips outside and Wolfgang goes for a baseball slide but Jester moves and delivers an eye poke to Wolfgang to try and swing the momentum of the match. Jester throws Wolfgang into the barricade but as he tries to do it again Wolfgang digs him in the ribs and then picks Jester up and drops him ribs first across the barricade and gets a two count on the outside. The crowd gets behind Jester and he fights to his feet as Wolfgang shoots him to the barricade and in trying to not hit his ribs Jester flips over the barricade landing hard in the crowd.
Wolfgang takes sometime to get over the barricade and this lets Jester grab a nearby recycling bin and pound him in the head with it twice for a two count in the crowd. As Jester and Wolfgang fight towards the doors at the back of the venue a fan pokes his head through the doors and the ref gives him a look like, enter at your own risk buddy and the fan slowly closes the door again. But luckily enough for him the action then spills through said doors and the competitors are now loose in the building.
Jester hits Wolfgang with another bin nearly sending him down the stairs and then he walks Wolfgang out of the O2 and into the streets of London just as a stereotypical red bus drives by, great timing. Wolfgang hits Jester with a traffic cone in the ribs and then runs him into the advertising hoarding for a two count on the cobbles. Wolfgang picks up Jester and gives him an atomic drop using a parking bollard but Jester rakes the eyes then grabs a swig off a fan before spitting whatever it was into the eyes of Wolfgang who flees back into the building.
They brawl back towards the ref and Jack gets another two count in the crowd. As Jester is climbing over the guardrail Wolfgang catches him with a forearm and goes to powerbomb him but Jester reverses and catapults Wolfgang into the ring post. Jester then climbs to the apron and delivers a classic Foley Elbow and then rolls Wolfgang to the apron and hits an apron leg drop. Wolfgang kicks the ropes as Jester is climbing back in then rolls him up using the ropes for leverage but Jester kicks out at two. Wolfgang goes to the outside and brings in two chairs but spends so much time staring down fans that when he turns around Jester is staring him down with one of the chairs in hand. The have a chair duel in the ring which ends when Jester throws his at Wolfgang but he blocks it then digs Jester in the ribs with the chair then delivers a stiff shot to a doubled over Jester and drops down into a pin but Jester just about gets his shoulder up. Wolfgang attacks Jester ribs with the point of the chair and then sets it up in the corner. He charges at Jester but Jester side steps him and Wolfgang goes head first into the chair. Jester then hits the drop to the dungeon in the middle of the ring but Wolfgang gets his shoulder up at the last second to save the match. Jester bring a chair back in and goes for a tombstone on the chair but Wolfgang reverses and slams Jester onto the chair in the middle of the ring. Wolfgang hits Jester in the ribs with another chair then places it on top of him, he then climbs the ropes looking for his big senton bomb but Jester gets to his feet and creams him in the head with a chair, he then pulls Wolfgang's body off the top rope and carries him to the center of the ring before hitting a tombstone piledriver on a chair for the three count and the huge win.
Winner by pinfall Jack Jester
Match was a very good typical BritWrestling main event with the crowd brawling and the weapons shots. ICW do stand out with their love of leaving the building and fighting on the streets which adds another less seen dynamic. After the match Jester celebrates with the chairs in the ring and basks in the crowd cheers and we’re done for this week.
Show this week was really let down by the crowd they really didn’t seem into anything until the main event which let the show down. It’s hard to see moves as impactful or important when the people at ringside seem like their unimpressed by everything that happens. Seek out the main event if you’re looking for a gold old fashioned BritWres main event. Personally I’m going to see what these three men in what appears to be a refrigerator box are doing in my back garden….until next week keep it too hot to handle, too cold to hold.
