Fight Club: PRO
Day Of The Dead 27.10.17 Wolverhampton Starworks Warehouse Fight Club: PRO returned on October 27th with its Day of the dead show with two big imports booked to compete on the show as Penta El Zero M challenged Fight Club: PRO champion Chris Brookes and Penta’s brother Rey Fenix tangled with Travis Banks. Also booked for the show was WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne taking on Omari as well your usual scramble, comedy and hardcore matches which have become a staple of this companies undercards. Eight Way Scramble Match: Jack Sexsmith vs Dan Moloney vs Stevie Boy vs El Phantasmo vs Eddie Dennis vs Kay Lee Ray vs Shay Purser vs Flash Morgan Webster Well, as usual, I'm just going to say this match was a hell of a lot of fun but then scrambles usually are. During Shay’s entrance, he was attacked from behind by Dan who gave him a big tombstone piledriver onto the entrance ramp. Then the utter madness began as all eight fighters battled back and forth with a ton of dives and big high spots. Mr Cocko arrived but that spot went nowhere, also they teased a terror of doom spot not once but twice. Then shay was reintroduced as he came out as Brock Lesnar with badly drawn on tattoo and all. Shay took everyone to suplex city until that wanker Dan Moloney broke up the fun and gave KLR and shay a deadlift at the same time. After more back and forth Jack emerged victorious after he nailed Dan with a Helter Skelter for a three. Winner: Jack Sexsmith Singles Match: David Starr vs Mark Haskins Early on both men displayed some quality chain wrestling which this reviewer appreciated. Then Starr began to get vicious lay into Haskins with some stiff strikes. Haskins battled back with some stiff strikes of his own then nailed Starr with his corner dropkick. Starr did his tope and covered mark for a two count. Starr targeted Haskins' arm and began to soften it up for an armbar. Joel got on Starr's case for this and he showed some heelish tendencies. Haskins battled back with some stiff kicks then some elbow strikes but Starr battled back as well. This was turning vicious fast and I was loving it. Hawkins began to work over the arm for his armbar but Starr made the ropes. Starr then nailed Haskins with a DDT onto the ring apron afterwards for a near fall. Again both men traded strikes then Hawkins picked Starr's leg and applied a Boston crab but again Starr made the ropes. Starr got a two count with a flat jack and followed it up with a knee smash for a near fall. Haskins then applied an ankle lock but Starr countered with a roll-up for a two count. Start battled back with a rolling forearm smash and a brainbuster for a near fall. Haskins went for his roll through DVD but start countered into a DDT for a near fall. Then Haskins battled back again and was able to take down Starr and apply a sharpshooter and this time Starr was forced to tap out. I really, really liked this match. It told a logical story of both men doing whatever they could to get the win and some of strikes and submission holds looked marvellous. Both men put on a clinic here and this match will go down on my Fight Club: PRO MOTY shortlist for sure. Winner: Mark Haskins Tag Team Match: Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) vs Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) Both teams received a tremendous reaction before the bell even rang with lots of duelling chants of moustache mountain, Aussie open and even Joel. Both teams, in fact, were really over throughout the entire match. I again liked this match it was probably the best tag team match in Fight Club: PRO this year as it had lots of near falls and some sick bumps in it but it seemed to be lacking something. I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe it was too many kick outs which took me out of being able to suspend my disbelief after so many big moves and the lack of selling of big moves whatever it was I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. After ten to fifteen minutes of solid action, Tyler pinned Kyle clean with a piledriver. Winners: Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) Singles Match: Travis Banks vs Rey Fenix Up next was another match I was really looking forward to and thankfully it delivered. No suspect selling after big highspots just another solid Travis Banks match he can add to his ever-growing list of great matches he's been in this year. Early on both traded some nice looking strikes and had a nice back and forth early on that lead to some logical two counts. They then did their dives and returned to the ring for another sizzling back and forth. Travis got a near fall with a brainbuster while Fenix got a near fall with a Sliced Bread Number Two. Travis did his cannonball splash in the corner for a two count but Fenix battled back with a breathtaking looking moonsault for a two count. They followed it up with some nice exchange of strike then the lights went out for a second when they returned Fenix and Travis continued beating the crap out of one another. Fenix gave Travis a double stomp for a near fall then Travis did the same to him connecting with the move to back of Felix's head. That spot looked brutal and was brilliantly executed by Travis. Travis then Fenix with a slice of heaven but Fenix turned it into a cross face but the Kiwi Buzzsaw found the ropes. Fenix went for a swinging DDT but Travis countered it into a K Crusher. Travis then applied a crossface of his own but Fenix battled out. Both men ended up on the top rope and Fenix gave Travis a Spanish fly for the two count. Travis nailed Fenix with another Slice of Heaven and Kiwi Crusher and this time got the one, two and three. Another great Travis Banks match it was similar to the Haskins\Starr match that told a logical story with some logical high spots leading to near falls. This match along with Haskins and Starr is well worth the £7.50 for the VOD or £10 for the DVD. Winner: Travis Banks Singles Match: Pete Dunne vs Omari Yet another big match I was looking forward going into watching this show and yet again this match delivered. I could piss and moan about who went over as Omari was in the midst of a big push but that didn't happen it made even less sense after the promo Pete cut on Omari before match where he called him pathetic. I suppose Omari looked strong in defeat but a win here really could have made him into an even bigger star in Fight Club: PRO in my opinion. Early on the two brawled on the outside with The Bruiserweight gaining the advantage. Back in the ring, Pete continued his beatdown of Omari with some Low Ki esque kicks. Omari fired up and began to take it to PETER so Dunne began to get dirty. He was building his heat nicely by working over the knee. This was all done obviously so Omari could make the big babyface comeback which both executed to perfection. PETER continued to take shortcuts as the crowd got behind their local hero. Omari battled back with a top rope suplex and a big knee smash. Omari went for the O-Zone but Pete countered and began to chomp on Omari's hand. Omari nailed Pete with a gut wrench sit down powerbomb for a near fall and followed it up with some big shoulder tackles in the corner. Pete took advantage of Omari's inexperience and nailed him with an X-Plex for the two count. Pete continued to act like a dick by slapping Omari but the youngster battled back with some slaps of his own. Pete took advantage with a stiff elbow smash and an enziguri. The two traded false finishes then Omari nailed Pete with the O-Zone out of nowhere but somehow Pete grabbed the ropes on two to broke the three count. Pete got Omari in a Hells Gate and began to work over his opponent with some elbow strikes but Omari made the ropes. Pete gave Omari a big backdrop off the top and nailed him with the bitter end for a near fall. Pete nailed Omari with a second bitter end and this time Omari couldn't kick out and Pete was declared the winner. Winner: Pete Dunne Four on Three Handicap Match: Anti Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne, Los Federales Santos Jr, James Obstruction and Leigh Obstruction) vs The Session Goth Martina, Jimmy Havoc and Clint Margera Please don't hate for this Damien but this match was hell of a lot of fun. It featured some good hardcore spots including the customary walking brawl as well as a tone of FUNNAH comedy spots including Session Goth doing old school to chief deputy Dunne with assistance from Jimmy and Clint of course. After so many serious matches a bit of FUNNAH was needed here with this match. Martina introduced some hard candy and a Toberlone and thankfully they were used. The finish saw Martina hoist Dunne up into a tombstone position to add the explanation point they shoved Dunne’s head into Martina’s pants and she drilled Dunne for the one, two and three. Afterwards, Martina hugged Jimmy who couldn't help but crack a smile then she partied to some Avril Lavigne which didn't sit well with Jimmy to end this FUNNAH little match. Winners: Jimmy Havoc, The Session Goth Martina and Clint Margera MAIN EVENT Fight Club: PRO Title Match: Chris Brookes (Champion) w/ Kid Lykos Vs Penta El Zero M It was time for your main event next as Chris Brookes put in another strong showing here this time against Lucha star Penta El Zero M. Yes I've been negative on Brookes reign in the past but after two strong performances at Project Mayhem, this title reign is really starting to grow on me. However, if Lykos wasn't injured, would Brookes have had as many title defences? Probably not, but his reign is really growing on me. I've never had a problem with Brookes as a performer, in fact, I would suggest he is one of the more consistent performers in Fight Club: PRO. My only problem was him winning the belt when he did as there was no build or epic story to him taking the belt the way he did from Travis in June. Anyway to the match. Early the two brawled on the outside as both men bumped off the guardrail. They brawled into the crowd as Penta took advantage of Brookes on the outside even Jesus got involved (go and watch you'll see what I mean). Penta continued to work over Brookes on the outside with chops. Eventually, the two made it back to the ring where Penta worked over Brookes' arm until Lykos interfered but Penta cut him off by giving him his arm breaker spot. Brookes grabbed a baking tray and nailed Penta with it and now had the upper hand on Brookes. Penta battled back with a lung blower for a two count and began to work over Brookes' knee with a number of kicks. Brookes came back with a knee smash and spinning neckbreaker for a two count. Brookes nailed Penta with a slingshot RKO but Penta came back with a powerbomb to the knee for a two count. Penta followed it up with a Canadian destroyer and got the 1, 2...no as Lykos pulled out Allen of the ring. Fenix came out and destroyed Lykos with a superkick and Penta drilled Lykos with package piledriver onto the ring apron, back in the ring Brookes rolled up Penta but Penta reversed out and drilled Brookes with a package piledriver but somehow Brookes kicked out at two. The two then went back and forth eventually Brookes rolled up Penta again and this time held on for the three count. Winner: Chris Brookes (And Still Fight Club: PRO Champion) Overall this was another quality show of high standard from Fight Club: PRO. I did and I mean this enjoy this show. OK maybe I was a bit mean on Aussie open vs Moustache Mountain but I stand by what I said above. The rest of card was well worth the £7.50 I paid to watch it on Vimeo and should check it out too as everything was very good and too a high standard which we've become accustomed to from Fight Club: PO. Once again thanks for reading my review and be sure to head over to Fight Club: PRO on Big Cartel and buy a DVD, shirt, hoodie or whatever to show your support and love for one of the best UK indy groups out there (that's my opinion anyway) or go to Vimeo and purchase one of the fine VOD's they have to offer. You can't go wrong and as always I'll end with I'll see you at the matches. @Billy_Jay83

Fight Club:Pro
Project Mayhem VI 2017 Night Two Star works Warehouse Wolverhampton 23/11/17 Fight Club: PRO returned for its annual Project Mayhem show on September 22nd and 23rd which had a stacked line up with Dragon Gate and Pro Wrestling Revolver guys present along with some of the best BritWres regulars we've all know and love. This show featured an insane deathmatch as well British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Trent Seven and Tyler Bate) taking on Team Dragon Gate (CIMA, Masaaki Mochizuki and Eita) on night one and Team Pro Wrestling Revolver (Sami Callihan, Jake and Dave Crist) on night two. So now the hype is out of the way let's delve into the shows. This will be coming from a live and DVD perspective as myself and our fearless leader Darren were in attendance for both of these shows. Night Two Fight Club: PRO Title Match: Chris Brookes (Champion) w/ Kid Lykos Vs Eita Similar to the previous nights show Chris Brooke's comes out to open the show. He cuts a promo on Martin Zaki making him defend his title the previous night and he calls himself a fighting champion and calls out anyone in the world to challenge him for his title. The challenge is accepted by Eita who comes out with a dog neck cone and he threatens to put on Lykos but that shitty little wolf avoids him somehow. This was a solid opener as both men put on a good match but nothing really stood out as great here. After several minutes of good action which lead to a clean pinfall from Eita over Brookes. Lykos predictably interfered and Eita put the cone on Lykos to stop any more interference from that shitty little wolf. Rita did three topes out onto Brookes which really got the crowd behind him. Eita got a near fall with a top rope missile dropkick but no one believed it was the finish. Eita ten elbow smashes into Brookes then Brookes recovered and drilled Eita with a brainbuster for a near fall. Eita battled back but Lykos interfered again so Eita nailed him with a baking tray then Brooke's like a thief in the night sneaked in and rolled up Eita for the three count. Winner: Chris Brookes (And still Fight Club: PRO champion) Tag Team Match: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Vs Scarlet & Graves (Desmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) Callous Hearts received a standing ovation for their quality death house match the previous night and both rightly deserved this. Scarlet and Graves were out next and Desmond Xavier decided to dress up as Jimmy Havoc which didn't sit well with the king of goths. Desmond cut a promo on Jimmy and Clint saying they are in CZW and Jimmy and Clint were in the tournament of death so let's make this a and Wentz cut him off with his best Zandig impression and said CZW style. This match on the night didn't stand out to me at the time at all but watching it back it was actually a fun little walking brawl with some sick bumps, dives and chair shots. Yeah again it wasn't the greatest thing in Wolverhampton that weekend but this on its own wasn't a bad match at all, in fact, it was funnah. Jimmy did his paper cut spot to Zachary which always looks brutal. They introduced a good ole British industrial ladder and both Clint and Jimmy took bumps off of it. Clint and Jimmy did a dodgy looking 3D to Zachary then Desmond asked fans for their chairs at ringside and people were only too happy to hand them over to him. It backfired as Jimmy used them on Desmond. Desmond battled back by suplexing Jimmy onto a pile of chairs then Clint gave Zachary a DVD from the top onto Desmond and the chairs. Jimmy headed up top and gave both men a double stomp. Jimmy then picked up a prone desmond and drilled him with an Acid Rainmaker for the one, two and three. Winners: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Singles Match: Omari Vs Shane Strickland The strong push of Omari continued next as claimed another big scalp this time by beating then Wrestle Circus Ringmaster champion, CZW World Heavyweight champion and current DEFY wrestling champion the International King of Swerve Shane Strickland. Well, I would have been saying it as it was the logical outcome but that didn't happen for some reason. Again Omari showed that he belonged and was warranting his big push in Fight Club: PRO by just hanging with Strickland. Omari has grown into his role as the company's next top guy this year brilliantly and he was someone I wasn't so high on when I first saw him. Both men went back and forth early on then Strickland took advantage with a rolling diamond cutter for a near fall. Strickland continued to try and put away Omari with a double stomp but Omari battled back with a top rope hurricanrana for the nearest of near falls. Omari then stuck Strickland with the O-Zone but again only got a two count to the horror of the crowd. Both men traded strikes then Strickland targeted Omari's arm and applied an armbar but Omari didn't tap and countered the hold into a pinning attempt. Strickland then nailed Omari with a reverse full nelson driver for the three. It looked like a botch as Omari kicked out too late in my opinion whatever it was it didn't matter as this match was really rather good. Winner: Shane Strickland Singles Match: Travis Banks Vs Masaaki Mochizuki This was the match I really enjoyed watching live but not so much on DVD. It was my favourite kind of style as both men got as stiff as possible with their strikes, forearm smashes and kicks but for me, the one thing that bothered me most was the sudden ending to it. As Massaki just nailed Travis with a slice of heaven nowhere to pick up the win. I get it Massaki is the current Open the Dream Gate champion and wasn't going to be booked anything less than strong but I kind of feel it yet again devalued Banks as that company's MVP. Winner: Masaaki Mochizuki No Funnah Chief Deputy Dunne made his way out to the ring and stopped all the fun in Wolverhampton almost immediately and closed the bar. At the time you just knew where this was heading. As it brought out Session Moth Martina who flirted with Dunne as Dunne claimed she had too much funnah. Dunne asked her to get on her knees and Martina was more than willing to comply. Dunne was irate at Martina not taking her seriously and attacked her. Martina did a dick punch to Dunne and broke his hand with a vag lock (yep I just wrote that). Shay ran out but was taken down with a spear it brought out Jack Sexsmith who pulled out Mr Cocko along with Martina and Shay and they rammed Mr Cocko down Dunne's throat to the delight of the crowd. Seven Way Scramble Match: CIMA Vs Millie McKenzie Vs Mark Davis Vs Kyle Fletcher Vs David Starr Vs Jordan Devlin Vs Mark Haskins Another match that was good but nothing really stood out here as great. You get what you get with seven-way scrambles they are a lot of fun live but it's normally just a spot fest which doesn't really mean too much just a chance to get everyone on the card who isn't booked. It did its job but I still stand by my thinking that it really wasn't anything great. It got the crowd warmed back up after the break so there was that. Haskins seems to have gone heel in Fight Club: PRO with his new lame music but fans still treated him like a face. The exchange between Millie and CIMA was a lot of fun early on then that big head wanker Jordan Devlin went and spoiled all the fun. Davis and Fletcher had a nice exchange as well early on but then you expect it from those two. The most rememberable spot from this one was Millie taking everyone to suplex city and thankfully she's working that spot into her matches now. It worked here so why not use it. The finishing sequence where everyone hit their finishers was well excited and timed to perfection but it was kind of obvious who was going over as CIMA nailed his old Dragon Gate UK bubby Mark Haskins with a double stomp to pick up the win. Winner: CIMA Woman's Match: Jessika Havok Vs Kay Lee Ray I really didn't enjoy this match. I found it to be dull and had very little going for it. Maybe It was its spot on the card as I felt watching it live and in person that this spot should have gone to tag team match or Travis vs Mochizuki match but they chose this spot and could never really get into it. I also found that Jessika really didn't go out and give us that grudge match she had promised after claiming the previous night she was going to kill Kay Lee Ray. Anyway, Jessika picked up the unpopular win with a second rope tombstone. Afterwards, she claimed she loved KLR which sounded odd considering 24 hours earlier she wanted to fucking kill her. Winner: Jessika Havok MAIN EVENT: Six Man Tag: British Strong Style (Trent Seven, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) Vs Sami Callihan and OI4k (Jake and Dave Crist) Well, what to say about this one other than it was really rather good which more than delivered from a live perspective and watching it back on DVD. Early on Sami talked about being in Fight Club: PRO since project mayhem 1 then talked some trash about BSS being in WWE. With the fighting talk out of the way, BSS made their way out to the ring and the fighting started almost immediately. There were some nice exchanges early on between Sami and Tyler then Pete did that picture perfect Flosberry flop out onto all five men on the outside. Jake and Pete had a nice exchange of strikes which popped this reviewer then applied a sharpshooter. Sami broke it up with a kiss to Pete then Sami got a near fall with his double undertook tombstone. Tyler came in and nailed Sami with a deadlift German. Jake nailed Trent with a DVD for a two count then flipped out of a German and him and his Irish brother nailed Trent with Steiner screwdriver for a near fall. Trent battles back with a piledriver to Sami for a near fall. OI4k and Sami then nailed all the members of BSS with a tombstone in stereo for a two count. The action spilled to the outside as Trent gave Jake an exploder onto the apron and Tyler dived out onto them. Dave went to the back as all five brawled on the outside. Dave then appeared on top of the scaffolding on the entrance aisle and dived onto all five men just avoiding some of the structure set up on entrance aisle. It was a scary moment but that crazy bastard was OK. Back in the ring, Pete drilled Sami with the bitter end for a two count. Then both Tyler and Jake climbed to the top rope on opposite ends of one another. Tyler and Jake both dived off and for the life of me don't how Jake did this but caught Tyler in mid-air with a cutter. It looked just as impressive as you might think it did by reading this. If I didn't do it justice and probably didn't go and check a GIF out of it now already. Jake pinned Tyler but only got a two count bizarrely. Trent then gave crazy Jake a top rope spike piledriver to pick up the win for his team. That bump was crazier than the mid-air cutter. Afterwards, all six men received standing ovations and showed one another respect to end the show. Winners: British Strong Style (Trent Seven, Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) Overall this was an OK show but again I said this a lot in the review above not a lot stood out as anything great or special. Night one was far superior to night two but thankfully the main event delivered. There really isn't much else to add. It isn't a show I would say is something you must go out of your way to see but buy the double DVD and just watch the six man tag, tag team and both singles matches avoid the rest. Thanks again for reading this review and sorry if it was too negative for you that's just the old bitter and twisted mark in me. I'll end as always with I'll see you at the matches. @Billy_Jay83 Fight Club: PRO
Project Mayhem VI 2017 Night One Star works Warehouse Wolverhampton 22/11/17 Fight Club: PRO returned for its annual Project Mayhem show on September 22nd and 23rd which had a stacked line up with Dragon Gate and Pro Wrestling Revolver guys present along with some of the best BritWres regulars we've all know and love. So now the hype is out of the way, let's delve into the shows. This will be coming from a live and DVD perspective as myself and our fearless leader Darren were in attendance for both of these shows. Night One We open the show with #CCK (Chris Brookes & Kid Lykos) who come out to the ring to boos from the crowd that cunt Chris Brookes decides to pop the 'eight' balloon as it was Fight Club: PRO's eighth birthday. Brookes wears a shit-eating grin as he announces there will be no #CCK tonight due to Lykos' injury and he would not be putting the belt on the line tonight. Brookes says they will be over at the merch table taking all of your money from your savings account (which popped this reviewer on this night and the crowd, because it was true). Fight Club: PRO promoter Martin Zaki comes out and makes a match as Brookes will defend his Fight Club: PRO title against Shane Strickland, Sami Callihan and Flash Morgan Webster in a four-way which starts right now. Fight Club: PRO Title Four Way Match: Chris Brookes (Champion) vs Shane Strickland vs Flash Morgan Webster vs Sami Callihan This was a fun opener from a live perspective and watching it back on DVD was just as fun. It featured a tonne of action with lots of spots, dives and brawling. This wouldn't look out of place on any show and certainly didn't here. All four guys were over and the crowd was red hot for the action. The only drawback to it and the rest of this show was the poor lighting whenever the camera got up close to the action from ringside it was in total darkness as someone had placed the ring lights at an awkward angle. Even Trent Seven pointed this out at the beginning of the show. The action was thick and fast throughout but I don't think anyone in the building believed that the title would genuinely change hands here but the crowd still brought some of the near falls. The finish saw Brookes, sneaky like the piece of shit he is (sorry Chris), roll up Callihan holding a fistful of Callihan's jeans to get the three count. Winner: Chris Brookes (And still Fight Club: PRO Champion) Three Way Women's Match: Jessicka Havok vs Millie McKenzie vs Kay Lee Ray Originally this was supposed to be Millie vs Jessicka but Kay Lee Ray was added as a last-minute surprise and it was a great surprise on the night as KLR is still one of my favourite female grapplers out there. So live and in person, I was happy to see her added to this match, but then it kind of took away from Millie who I feel would have become even more over if she had beaten Havok here one-on-one but it served a purpose at least as we would find out afterwards. Well, what to say about the match overall? It was OK well fine in fact as all three woman went out to put on a show. It was a little bit short and the action was passable but nothing really stood out here. Millie is getting a push at the moment and is one of the Fight Club: PRO trainees training with Travis Banks. The result was kind of obvious as she won with a roll up. Afterwards, Havok blamed her loss on KLR and vowed to fucking kill her tomorrow night (remember that because it's important). Winner: Millie McKenzie Singles Match: Travis Banks vs Jordan Devlin Well, what do you say about Travis that hasn't already been said by me on these reviews? I still believe he's the complete package who has some of best matches in the UK but in this match, although it was good it wasn't one of Travis Banks' finer matches of the year. The guy has had some great outings this year but this one seemed to be missing something. Jordan is a great worker but he's still not there for me in big match scenarios just yet but it will come in time. I would say their match in PROGRESS back in February was better than this one. Jordan was again insanely over here...well, his massive head is and I like the fact he's using it in matches and his opponents are selling his headbutts especially as a deadly move. It's becoming his gimmick and he's running with it in Fight Club: PRO and I must applaud him for that. After several minutes of solid action, Travis picked up the win by making Jordan tap out to the Lion's Clutch. Winner: Travis Banks Four Team Four Way Match: Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) vs Scarlet & Graves (Desmond Xavier & Zachary Wentz) vs Black Coffey (Omari & Joe Coffey) Vs OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist) Another spotty multi-man match followed the Banks/Devlin match but then it was the start of the second half proper so they can be forgiven for giving us another match similar to the opener. It's not like this crowd didn't need warming up as it was super hot all night. I really enjoyed this actually. All eight guys busted their asses in there and it was a lot of fun as well. I must mention how I got a kick out of Desmond taking a sip out of my Strongbow Dark Fruits and mentioning how tasty it was but I think he was lying. Anyway back to the action like the opener it featured lots of action and dives and suffered from the legal man syndrome (I promise I'll not say it again). Jake Crist and Desmond Xavier had a nice exchange after the dives but it'll be hard-pressed to be remembered fondly by anyone not me as so much happened in this match. The finish saw everyone do their finishers like in the opener then the Crist brothers were left with a dazed Kyle Fletcher. Jake scooped up Kyle into a tombstone position while Dave came off the top rope with a double foot stomp and OI4K went over clean. It made the most sense actually as OI4K were heading into the main event the following evening, so keeping them strong by having them go over made the most sense in the world to me anyway. Winners: OI4K (Jake & Dave Crist) Grudge Match: Shay Purser w/ Session Moth Martina Vs Dan Moloney This was one of the matches I was most looking forward to going into this show even after the Moloney v Martina match had so badly offended last month. This match was pure comedy but then anything involving these three normally is. Shay is a terrible in ring worker but I'm willing to give him a pass as he's bloody good at comedy and you don't need to be a five-star worker to have fun comedy matches. Early on Dan downed Martina with a brutal looking kick to leave her laying and would later on give her a powerbomb onto the ring apron which nasty as hell. Dan beat on Shay over and over again with this match looking very one-sided indeed but then Dan got cocky and shay found some of that intestinal fortitude. Shay battled back and dropped Moloney with a big suplex and slapped the shit out of Him. Moloney began to dominate Purser again until Martina interfered on his behalf. Dan pulled out some of Martina’s hair then Shay took advantage and drilled him with a swinging DDT. Shay dives out onto DAN then rolled him back in the ring and gave DAN a Canadian Destroyer. Martina removed her jacket and revealed a referees shirt while shay stunned DAN with a stunner for a three count. My only annoyance with this match was the finish. People tend to forget this ends Dan's long undefeated streak. Yeah sure he could claim the victory was null and void due to Martina counting the three count when she wasn't the official but he was still visibly pinned clean by Shay Purser and his undefeated streak didn't deserve to end like that. Winner: Shay Purser Trio’s Match: British Strong Style (Pete Dunne, Tyler Bate & Trent Seven) vs Team Dragon Gate (CIMA, Eita & Masaaki Mochizuki) This was the match that made me more than anything want to go to Wolverhampton to see the stars of dragon gate wrestle this countries best trio in BSS. Early on Pete worked an exciting exchange with puro icon CIMA. CIMA seemed motivated to bring what's left of his A-Game and put on a solid exchange with Pete. Up next was Mochizuki exchanging with Trent which wouldn't have looked out of place in a ring in Japan. Eita and Bate were next and the two younger members of their respective groups had a quick-paced exchange. Team Dragon Gate did Mochi spot of where he gets his teammates to hold up open Pete's legs spread eagle why Mochi stomps you in your nether regions (I marked out seeing that live). Pete worked over Eita by grabbing his hair and stomping on his feet, legs and hands like the bruiser weight likes to do. Trent was in next and he chopped away at Eita and then dropped him with a DDT. Tyler did a Swanton Bomb for a two count then followed it up with an Earthquake Splash for another two count. Pete was back in and he worked over Eita's arm and hand some more. Pete then kicked and slapped Eita and finally, the youngster made a comeback but got stopped by Pete who tagged in Trent. Trent did his Kobashi chops to Eita in the corner but Eita fired back up and made the hot tag. It brought both CIMA and Mochi in and the action began to break down with a number of dives. Mochi and Pete had a nice trade exchange of chops then Trent dropped mochi with a Saito suplex. CIMA nailed Trent with a lung blower then Tyler came in and gave CIMA a double foot stomp. Peter dropped Eita with an X-Plex then a tombstone for a near fall. All six men then traded strikes and Eita did his fucked up reverse Alabama Slam for a near fall. Eita and CIMA dropped Tyler with a double dropkick then CIMA got a near fall with a cradle bomb. All six men exchanged strikes but BSS cut off Team Dragon Gate with the short punch then Tyler drilled Mochizuki with the Tyler Driver '97, Trent dropped CIMA with the piledriver and Pete nailed Eita with the Bitter End but only got a two count. BSS did the crotch chop and went for the Pedigree spot but team Dragon Gate countered it with a Pedigree of there own. Mochizuki then leapt up to the middle rope and came off with a tidal kick for the win. Afterwards, both teams shook hands as the crowd gave them a standing ovation. This was an incredible in-ring encounter which more than delivered in this reviewers opinion and wouldn't have looked out of place on a KOBE world card. It lived up to the hype and is another great trios match BSS can say they've had this year. Winners: Team Dragon Gate (Masaaki Mochizuki, CIMA and Eita) MAIN EVENT Tag Team Tornado Deathmatch: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Vs Rickey Shane Page & Drew Parker So how do I start this match review? That's the question I've asked myself for weeks now with doing it any justice. Well, I can't so I just tell you how it went down. RSP and Drew came out first to a good reaction then the familiar tune of AFI's 'I Hope You Suffer' came over the PA system. It played and played and you could sense the crowd wondered what was going on then the curtain behind the merch table dropped (they had conveniently been moved during the six-man tag) and revealed a second ring (the old FIXXON ring) with ropes covered in barbed wire and a scaffolding tower along with panes of glass and other objects bound to inflict pain. I have never heard a pop as big as that one at an indy show. I, like many others, got up and left my seat and have never run as fast as my fat legs could move to get a decent spot and I got a pretty decent spot at the front of queue with Jack Sexsmith right next to me. I didn't notice him at the time as I was too taken up in the spectacle unfolding in front of my eyes. This was special moment and one I will never forget. Say what you will about deathmatch wrestling but this moment was special and the only way to live it was by being there. All four men brawl in the sea of humanity then they make there way over to the ring and Drew cuts open Clint by cutting him with barbed wire. Jimmy then brawls with Drew while Clint cuts open RSP with a cheese grater. Jimmy drinks a bottle of Stella then him and Clint set up the barbed wire covered guardrail and drop RSP onto it with a backdrop as Rickey bleeds heavily everywhere. Back in the ring Clint and Jimmy take turns working over Drew and cut him open with barbed wire. Clint bites at Drew's cut on his forehead. Clint tosses Rickey into some carpet nails which are propped up on the ropes while Jimmy continues to pummel Drew. RSP and Drew then do it Jimmy and Clint and stab them with the nails. RSP introduces a pane of glass into the ring and a stack of light tubes. Jimmy battles back and hits Rickey with a light tube and the places one over Drew's head and Jimmy headbutts it but the tube doesn't break. Clint then places a light tube in RSP's mouth and Jimmy tries to elbow smash it to break but the tube doesn't smash as intended. Clint and Jimmy spike Parker and Page with the broken light tubes. Back in ring Jimmy opens up Drew's cut some more with the broken tube. Jimmy grabs some thumbtacks while RSP nails Clint with a light tube, sending glass everywhere. I should know as I was in the splash zone. Referee Joel Allen immediately moved me and some other fans back and I heard him say there is going to be a lawsuit! Back in the ring Drew gets a wheelbarrow splash onto the tacks then battles back and sends Jimmy into a pane of glass set up in the corner. Clint grabs drew and gives him a DVD into the corner where the carpet nails are propped up then Clint sends RSP into another corner where a pane of glass is propped up. Rsp battles back and tries to nail Clint with some light tubes but he ducks and the cameraman takes a shot full on in the head, the shot on DVD looks incredible. Everyone plays it up as it wasn't meant to happen but in my mind, that was a planned spot. Drew nails Jimmy with a northern lights for a two count then Clint gives him a DVD onto the tacks. Clint throws glass into RSP's face then powerbomb and Pumphandle Slam's Parker for a near fall. Jimmy pulls out his axe which sends Drew climbing up the scaffolding. Jimmy goes up after him as Clint sets up some chairs and lays some barbed wire boards across the chairs. Drew thwarts Jimmy but doesn't see Clint climbing up behind him and clint grabs him and gives him a huge DVD off the top of the scaffolding and drives Drew straight to hell onto the boards. Clint clutches his knee while drew lay out cold on the boards. Rickey sets up a pane of glass on two chairs then gives Clint a Mount Splashmore\Razors Edge over the top rope to the outside and Clint lands on some light tubes on top of table and they all explode. Jimmy then gives RSP an Acid Rainmaker while holding some light tubes then finishes off Rickey with a Canadian Destroyer onto the chairs with the panes of glass set up on to pick up the win for himself and Clint. Afterwards, Fight Club: PRO prove they've been big fans of deathmatch and smart mark video for years by showing highlights of all the big bumps from the deathmatch. So what do I see that hasn't already been said yet about this match. Well, I can't add a lot more. If you were there and ain't a big deathmatch fan then you'll probably respect this for the spectacle it was. If weren't there and you're not a deathmatch fan then probably stay clear as me and you will probably disagree on what art is in pro wrestling. Winners: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Overall I loved this show live and in person and I'm sure BritWres Review head honcho Darren will agree as like me he was raving about this show afterwards in our hotel room at the Quality Inn. From a personal point of view, I can't decide on the match of the night its either going to BSS vs Team Dragon Gate or Death House as it's become known with fans of Fight Club: PRO. I'm going to say both matches deserve that honour as both are packed full of emotion and great storytelling. If you're reading this review and it's made you want to go and buy the show then head on over to Vimeo or Big Cartel and buy the show now it's well worth a watch. Even if you like or don't like deathmatch wrestling there is an awful lot here to like. Thanks again for reading my review and send your hate mail to @Billy_Jay83 I'm more than willing to debate with on all things graps and as always I'll end with I'll see you at the matches. Fight Club: PRO returned for its second Tekkers show on August 25th at its newish WRESTLEHOUSE the Starworks. The show had another solid line up as Fight Club: PRO champion Chris Brookes finally defended his title against former champion Travis Banks.
Also scheduled for this show was The 'Session Moth' Martina's big grudge match with DAN Moloney and PWG Champion Chuck Taylor faced BritWres legend, Mark Haskins It's back to the VOD reviews for this show as I could not make the show in person. The first new thing I noticed was a brand new fancy HD Screen above the aisleway but it's your usual cold open and were straight into the action. Six Person Tag Team Match: House Fight Club: PRO (Kyle Fletcher, Omari, and Millie Mckenzie) Vs Fire Ant, Mark Davis and The International King of Swerve Shane Strickland This was a fine sprint style match to open up the show. Highlights early on saw Davis and Fletcher go out and kill one another with some stiff strikes. Omari and Strickland had a nice high flying exchange as well as Millie and Strickland. It was then diving time as all six busted out their best dives which really popped the crowd. You could gripe about the legal man syndrome this match had but then it's so common in today's BritWres that I just sound like a broken record when I mention it. There was the big triangle suplex spot which always gets over big in these matches and then the Aussies were back to killing one another with strikes. Shane nailed Omari with a swinging DDT then got a near fall on Millie with his cutter. Everyone was in and out of the ring, nailing one another with a variety of moves. There was a spot where everyone did RKO's out of nowhere. The team of Fire Ant, Strickland and Davis all took turns to nail Fletcher with Swanton Bombs for a near fall. Then Shane and Mark hoisted Kyle and Omari up onto their shoulders and Fire Ant climbed on top of them. Fire Ant came off with a double foot stomp but missed Mille and then Omari and Kyle gave Davis and Strickland Reverserana's. Omari gave Strickland a superkick then Fire Ant fired up on Omari with some vicious looking strikes. Millie drilled Fire Ant with a Sliced Bread Number Two before Omari hoisted up Fire Ant and drilled him with the O-Zone for the one, two and three. This was a fun opener which set the tone for the show perfectly. Bring on match number two. Winners: House Fight Club: PRO (Kyle Fletcher, Omari, and Millie Mckenzie) Singles Match: Session Moth Martina Vs Dan Moloney If you expected a five or 6 and a half star classic here then you would be wrong as It was supposed to be the light comedy relief match that Martina is becoming so bloody good at in Fight Club: PRO, but at times I found myself wincing at DAN's beat down of Martina. There was some fun to be had when Martina gave DAN a vag flip but there was this prolonged vicious beat down by DAN which I found unsettling at times. I know it was designed to tell the story of the DQ finish but I found it unwatchable at times. Session Moth had a decent babyface comeback but it got cut off too quickly. DAN nailed Joel which brought out Shay. DAN was distracted for long enough for Martina to low blow him for the three count. Joel Allen returned and ruled that Martina is still the winner but by disqualification. Afterwards, DAN attacked Shay with a sit down powerbomb. Martina revived Shay then Shay announced he was going to face DAN at Project Mayhem. Then the golden couple of BritWres embraced with a hug and Shay carried out Martina in his arms like in the movie An Officer and a Gentlemen. Let's hope next time Dan gets his comeuppance when he faces Shay at Project Mayhem as that seems like the only logical finish to this feud which has kind of soured me after enjoying its hot start. Winner: Session Moth Martina by DQ Singles Match: David Starr Vs Jordan Devlin I really wanted to like this match more as it had my 'Favourite Wrestler's Favourite Wrestler' David Starr in it but I found this match to be a little dull in places. They did some things which weren't very memorable and which lead to the inevitable finish of Jordan going over clean with a package piledriver. Winner: Jordan Devlin No DQ 4 Way Tag Team Match: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Vs Bowl-A-Rama (Splits McPins&Lylod Katt) Vs The Hunter Brothers (Jim & Lee Hunter) Vs The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne & Los Federales Santos Jr) This was what you would expect it to be nothing more than pure carnage. It was your usual walking brawl as Callous Hearts took it to the three teams who answered their open challenge. Havoc decided to fire a staple gun staple into that young whipper snapper Federales Santos Jr's hand. Back in the ring, Callous Hearts gave paper cuts to the Anti-Fun Police and poured raw alcohol into the cuts of Chief Deputy Dunne and Santos Jr. There was a long spot where Jimmy teased doing that monkey flip spot he did on Joey Janela recently to Jim Hunter but kept getting cut off even by his own partner. The eight men then brawled around ringside and back into the ring which is customary in every hardcore match. Bowl A Rama decided to put some tape on their bowling ball and then rolled it into thumbtacks. They then bowled a perfect seven-ten split into Clint Margera balls. The Hunter's did all their sick double team tag moves to Chief Deputy Dunne then Federales Santos Jr drilled Lee Hunter with a second rope sunset flip powerbomb. Havoc worked over Dunne with a frying pan and then dropped Dunne with an Acid Rainmaker to pick up the win. Winners: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Singles Match: Chuck Taylor Vs Mark Haskins This was a decent match to kick off the second half of the show but then you would expect it to be if it involves the incredibly underrated Chuck Taylor and one of many BritWres legends on the scene who can still legit go. Early on they slowed the pace down as both men worked over each other's arms and worked more of a chain wrestling based style. Both men picked it up towards the end as Chuck did a big dive. Back in the ring, Mark continued to soften Chuck's arm up for his arm bar finisher but the PWG champion had something left as he got near falls with a Falcon Arrow and a Moonsualt. The finish saw Chuck go for his awful waffle but mark countered it into a Sharpshooter and the PWG champion was trapped and was forced to tap out clean to Haskins. Winner: Mark Haskins MAIN EVENT Fight Club: PRO Title Match: Chris Brookes (Champion) Vs Travis Banks Brookes got a positive heel reaction during his entrance which was a plus for this reviewer he's a heel in Fight Club: PRO people so boo him. During the introductions, Brookes attacked Banks and the pair began to brawl all over the building. Banks did his cannonball on top of Brookes who was sat on some punters chair. Brookes superkicked Banks who fired back up with one of his own. Brookes grabbed a chair and throw it into Banks' direction but he caught it. The action returned to the ring and the bell rang. Brookes worked over Banks' shoulder with a devastating nerve hold then stomped him over and over. Brookes went for his wet willy spot but Banks countered and began running into Brookes with running uppercuts and a cannonball for a near fall. A sweet looking bridging German by Travis got him a two count on Brookes who battled back with a German of his own for a two count. Both men exchanged strikes while on their knees then fired up and exchanged big kicks with one another. Another German by Brookes which Banks no sold and popped right back up. Banks nailed Brookes with a double stomp to the back of his head and then did the Coast-to-Coast drop kick for a near fall. Banks went for a Slice of Heaven but Brookes cut him off with a big knee and a Michinoku Driver for a two count. Banks fired back up for his series of dives out onto the champion. Brookes battled back and dropped Travis with a back drop onto the edge of the ring. Brookes rolled Banks into the ring for a two count. Brookes looked puzzled and went under the ring and pulled out a steel chair. Shay pleaded with Brookes to drop the chair but then Shay grabbed it annoying the champion. He shoved Shay but there was Banks who nailed Brookes with a Kiwi Krusher for a near fall. Brookes hoisted up Shay onto his shoulders and tossed him off and Shay accidentally hit Banks with the #CCK finisher the assisted code breaker. Brookes was irritated that this didn't get him a three count took out shay. Kyle Fletcher came out and went face-to-face with the champion. He grabbed the chair while Brookes spat at him then Kyle accidentally hit banks with the chair. Brookes covered Banks as Joel ran out and counted one, two...but no, Banks kicks out! Brookes was upset now but up popped Banks who nailed Brookes with a Slice of Heaven for a near fall. Banks floated over and applied a crossface and Brookes tapped out. Shay recovered and ordered for the match to restart. It quickly restarted and Brookes rolled up Banks for the surprising three count. This was a very good main event but I felt it had a convoluted finish but then it sort of protected Banks and made Brookes look like even more of a cock than he is. So there is that going forward I guess. Still, doesn't do much for me as Brookes going forward as the champion. I get it he's a heel so sometimes they have to book shit like this but maybe just maybe there was a better way to get there than this. Winner: Chris Brookes (And still Fight Club: PRO Champion) Another good show courtesy of Fight Club: PRO. I'm kind of sick to death of writing this nonsense involving Brookes but I get it so I'll try to not do the same here. Really enjoyed the sprint opener that was quality viewing as well as Haskins vs Sexy Chucky T. The callous hearts walking brawl was fun also sorry chief but it was. Also enjoyed the main event until the finish but I can't say I found much enjoyment in the session moth/Dan Moloney match and I didn't think I would find myself saying that when the feud started. Also didn't really enjoy the Starr v Devlin match but then I pointed out why above. Again thanks for reading my review and if you disagree with me then I'm sorry or if my review which was kind of bitter sweet has made you want to go and check out Fight Club:PRO then head over to Vimeo and purchase the show for 7.50 or DVD at Fight Club:PRO big cartel for a tenner then go and do that now. As always I'll end this review with I'll see you at the matches...or should I say Project Mayhem at the end of the month. @Billy_Jay83 Fight Club: PRO was back again in London on August 26th for its brilliantly named Capital CockKnocker 2 show. This was a show I was lucky enough to attend (my 14th BritWres show this year) and was the second Fight Club: PRO show that week. Fight Club: PRO had announced a big main event as Jeff Cobb took on Tyler Bate and PWG Champion Chuck Taylor was also on the bill, teaming with his Gentlemen's Club stablemate, Orange Cassidy, to face #CCK, Chris Brookes the current Fight Club: PRO champion and Kid Lykos.
Like I mentioned above this is from a live perspective so as always I'll apologise for any mark out moments in advance. Before the show started Trent came out to do his stick with the crowd which this reviewer will never tire of hearing. Here he shared a funny joke about Triple H. One I won't repeat (sorry folks you had to be there) and showed off his new Nike Kicks. Trent also gave us a little history lesson on why this event had been named Capital CockKnocker 2. The first ever was 20 years ago in his front room and shared some stories about that historic show. Trent then said he would be tonight's ring announcer and obviously he's pretty damn good at that like he is at wrestling. Singles Match: Elijah vs. El Phantasmo This was the dark match and was only available to the fans live in attendance. Both men worked hard and had a nice back and forth throughout the match. I'm still not completely sold on El Phantasmo. Yeah, he does good flips but not a lot else. Elijah on the other hand, I am sold on. He's a good solid hand who always has a good match. Elijah got some good heat working over El Phantasmo with some cracking strikes. After 8 minutes or so of solid action, which the crowd really seemed to get into, Elijah nailed El Phantasmo with his fucked up tilt a whirl sit down powerbomb slam thingy (I don't know what it is called but it looks tremendous). Winner: Elijah Eight Person Scramble Match: 'The Bruiserweight' Pete Dunne vs. Eddie Dennis vs. Millie Mckenzie vs. 'Session Moth' Martina vs. Charli Evans vs. Lee Hunter vs. Jack Sexsmith vs. Jordan Devlin The Bruiserweight was originally scheduled to wrestle Fenix of Lucha underground fame here but alas he had trans problems and was unable to make the show. So they booked Pete into this 8 person scramble which Trent had a snappy name for but it escapes me right about now. Maybe it's the fact I'm a little hungover right about now as I'm writing this a mere 16 hours after the show happened. Early on, the action spilt to the outside and all eight brawled all over the Bush Hall venue. Pete was throwing some great strikes at poor old Millie who looked better than the last time I saw her in Fight Club: PRO. In fact, Millie was the star of the show, but I'm skipping ahead so I'll leave that till later. Martina seemed to take a liking to Jack Sexsmith (obviously) which made Shay a little jealous. The two both pulled out condoms and applied a Mr Cocko to poor old Jordan Devlin. That sick fuck Pete broke it up by biting both Mr Cocko's. Pete sold it perfectly with a look of disgust on his face after tasting both Mr Cocko's. Eddie Dennis had a nice exchange with Shay and ended up throwing him with a Razor's Edge to the outside onto all the fighters, after the scramble everybody does a dive spot. Back in the ring, Pete nailed Shay, Martina and Sexsmith with a pedigree all at the same time. It looked sloppy but who the hell cares? It was an incredible spot which popped this reviewer and the crowd. It was the closing stretches where Millie was made to look like a star as she hung with Pete who worked her over with a number of sweet looking forearm shots. Then Pete nailed her with a pedigree and she kicked out but she couldn't survive the Bitter End and fell to the former FCP champion and current WWE UK champion. Winner: The Bruiserweight Pete Dunne Singles Match: Travis Banks vs. Omari Omari's big push up the card continued as he clashed one-on-one with former FCP champion Travis Banks. Omari took a beating but kept on ticking as Travis worked him with a variety of kicks and chops throughout the match. Omari was having none of it and stood tall in his exchanges with Travis. Omari looked like a star yet again and I'm loving the fact Mr Zaki and Trent are awarding him with this monster push. Omari battled back and tried to set up the O-Zone but Travis had his number at every turn. Travis got a number of near falls with a Slice of Heaven, backwards double stomp, Michinoku Driver and brain buster. In the end, Omari just couldn't withstand a Kiwi Krusher and was pinned clean. This was by far my match of the night. Winner: Travis Banks Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Vs Aussie Open (Mark Davis & Kyle Fletcher) This was another match that existed to continue to push Callous Hearts who are on a collision course with #CCK. Both teams gelled well but it had no chance of following the previous encounter between Travis and Omari. The Aussies looked good again out there but unfortunately, Mark Davis didn't do his fucked up reverse DVD Piledriver and I love that move. Before the bell, Kyle flipped off the notorious BritWres fan (let's call him DE) to the delight of the crowd. The match was a brawl early on and both teams went all over the building. Having already seen this scenario earlier in the show, the reaction was lesser than it was earlier on. The only memorable thing is Clint Margera doing a Cactus Jack elbow drop from the second rope to the outside onto Davis. Again, that deserved a bigger reaction. Yeah, it sounds good when they were setting up the match in the back but was it really needed here maybe Clint should have saved it for a bigger match (sorry Clint). The finish saw Havoc nail both Davis and Fletcher with a double acid rainmaker to pick up the win for his team. Winners: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) CZW World Heavyweight Title Match: Shane Strickland (Champion) vs. Mark Haskins This match was originally not supposed to be for the C-Zed-W (as Haskins would call it) title, but Haskins laid out the challenge for the belt before the bell and like every good fighter does, Shane accepted after asking the crowd if they wanted the belt on the line. It immediately made this match feel more important now the stakes had risen higher. Early on both kept the crowd quiet with some quality chain wrestling. In fact, I think like a good crowd would they weren't being quiet because of disinterest they were quiet because they were quietly studying the clinic put on before them. Then both men took to the air and dived out onto one another to bring the crowd back to life. Shane came close with his rolling cutter and swinging cutter spots for near falls on the former PROGRESS champion. Haskins came back targeted the arm of the champion (which is logical). Haskins and Shane went to the top rope and teased suplexing one another out Into the crowd but Haskins slipped and fell into position for Shane to double foot stomp him while Haskins was tied up in the ropes. Back in the ring Haskins nailed Shane with a DVD and a Finlay roll and locked in the arm bar and the crowd and this reviewer sensed a title change but Shane just made the ropes. Shane battled back with a big boot, Superkick and another cutter to finish off Haskins. Like banks vs Omari, this oozed quality and both men should be applauded for the type of match they laid out and put on here. Winner: Shane Strickland (And Still CZW World Heavyweight Champion) Tag Team Match: #CCK (Chris Brookes & Kid Lykos) Vs The Gentlemen's Club (Chuck Taylor & Orange Cassidy) After a BritWres 10 minute intermission (meaning it was over 25 minutes long) up next was the return of #CCK as Lykos has been out the last 3 weeks with a shoulder injury after he injured it at Riptide wrestling last month. They got a massive reaction even if they spat water all over everyone. Lykos was sporting his sling early on which lead to some good comedy with Chucky T the current PWG Champion. As Chuck put his hand up for a test of strength but Lykos was wearing his sling. Then out of nowhere Lykos pulled off his sling and nailed Chucky T with a big swinging DDT. Orange Cassidy was in next and I've rarely seen him since his Chikara days I had forgotten how much I loved his "I can't be arsed" comedy. Brookes, on the other hand, was almost perplexed by how to wrestle someone who can't be bothered. 'Freshly Squeezed' showed no remorse or attempt to wrestle Brookes or Lykos then woke up after doing his praying rope walk and dived out onto both CCK members. Chuck was letting his partner get his shit in and I think he'll be more fondly remembered for his hijinks than Chuck, who could have pulled rank and demand to get his shit in but didn't. There was some more comedy as all four men and Shay spat water at one another and Shay was even hoisted up and nailed Orange with the assisted code breaker. Chuck gave Lykos his Awful Waffle which I've seen twice live now and it's a thing of beauty. The finish saw PWG champ Chuck protected as he brawled to the outside with Brooke's back in the ring Lykos nailed orange with another big swinging DDT then Brooke's returned and CCK nailed Orange with the assisted code breaker for the three. It was the most obvious finish and made the most sense to this reviewer. Winners: #CCK (Chris Brookes & Kid Lykos) MAIN EVENT Tyler Bate vs. Jeff Cobb Well, how do you follow that well with Tyler bate vs Jeff Cobb obviously? Thankfully Jeff made this show after missing the previous evenings show thanks to trains and these two put on a very good scrap indeed. Early on both men took it to the mat with some nice looking collegiate wrestling spots. Then things got serious as both men showed the other and the crowd who really was the strongest man in wrestling with some sweet looking suplexes obviously Jeff Cobb is the king of this but Tyler was not to be showed up as he nailed Jeff with his dead lift German to pop the crowd and the reviewer. Jeff gave Tyler all of his big suplex spots (eat your heart out Brock) and got a near fall off of every attempt. Towards the end, Jeff came close with a big double underhook suplex off the top rope but Tyler battled back and finished off the big Hawaiian with his Tyler driver 97 to pick up the big and popular win. This match was good but nowhere as good as banks/Omari and Haskins/Strickland but well worth a look once the DVD or VOD drops. Winner: Tyler Bate Overall this was another solid Fight Club: PRO show which delivered where it matters from an in ring perspective. As for storylines there only seems to be one real storyline in Fight Club: PRO at the moment and that is the push of Omari. It does annoy me they're not doing anything else and all they seem to do is deliver dream match not that is a bad thing it's just annoying there not doing more storylines underneath. Don't even get me started on the Fight Club: PRO title which is now playing second fiddle to everything else. I still stand by my assessment that Brookes shouldn't be champion (direct your hate mail via Twitter please). I explained why I thought this was a bad move in my stranger than Fixxion review. I still believe Travis Banks should still be the champion. Anyway, tangent over let's talk about This show shall we. It had some great matches on it and as I said it deliver from in ring perspective. It was great from a live point of view as well I'm sure the other group in Camden won't deliver a show as good as this 24 hours later but will it translate as well onto DVD or VOD. Well, I'll have to let you know. As always I'll say go buy the DVD or VOD once they drop it's well worth the investment and finish with I'll see you at the matches. @Billy_Jay83 |
