Last month it was announced that WWE UK superstars Trent Seven, Tyler Bate and Mark Andrews were to make their Target Wrestling debuts and my God did it sell fast. I got my ticket before leaving last months show.
Unfortunately Mark Andrew suffered a neck injury in a match at the download festival so was ruled out of the show in Carlisle. So back to the venue in Carlisle and oh my god the place was heaving. Some say selling out without a match being announced is a good thing but I also see selling out for a main event gives it a big fight feel. It shows how good the drawing power is for the teams TEAMS! Involved in this months main event: Target Wrestling Tag team champions Polo Promotions vs Moustache Mountain. Card was rearranged a bit because of Andrews being out. He was replaced by Johnny Moss and he faced Damon Havok & Ryan Hunter in a triple threat. Really good opener and Johnny Moss was super over in this match. Moss won in relatively easy fashion. Khifie West defeated Medallion in an ok match. West has a good muscular look and he had a pose down mid match with a not so muscular Medallion that made Medallion more of a face than a heel in my opinion. Joseph Conners, Joe Coffey & Mystery partner Magnus beat The Tyne Wolves & ROH star Flip Gordon. Joe Coffey, who I believe was originally booked on this 5 star tour of shows but was cancelled for next February, is the team announced is team mates. First Joseph Connors came out and then the mystery partner MAGNUS! The Tyne Wolves come out along with, unknown to me, Flip Gordon. Seeing them getting into the ring and looking at the waiting Strong team of Coffey, Conners and Magnus looked like a mismatch and it was as Joe Coffey, Joseph Conners and Magnus won. Flip Gordon was ok but felt like he was limited at what flippy shit he could do with the size of the venue. Still impressive though. "Turbo" Josh Terry defeated Shady Nattrass to retain the High Octane championship in a really good match. Turbo did a nice moonsalt off the stage onto Shady outside of the ring there was a painful looking Canadian destroyer from Turbo to Shady on the ring apron which, if you didn't know, is the hardest part of the ring. Shady hit an RKO for a one count that caused Shady to do his usual heel thing of getting the belt and trying to hit him with it. Didn't work and Turbo hit a reverse hurricanrana and jumped to top rope and hit a beautiful shooting star press for the three. Really good match by Turbo Josh Terry and Shady Nattrass and they should be on everyone's radars for the future. Last month Carlisle wrestler Karnage became the new target wrestling champion in a fatal four way match against Joe Coffey, Joseph Conners and Shady Nattrass. This month he defended his title against Rampage Brown. Crowd were super behind Karnage and the Carlisle United FC chants were as loud as ever. Karnage won the match and while celebrating the lights go out and in comes a hooded figure that knocks down Karnage with a not so great chair shot to the head. The chair shots that followed were way better to the arms and back and out comes the manager of the guest list faction Marc Allan. The hooded figure revealed himself to be, the very popular to everyone else, The Coyote Kid! Nice little surprise there and I think he will work better as a heel and this looks like the heavyweight title picture for the coming months. Then it was main event time. Target Wrestling Tag Team Champions Polo Promotions vs Moustache Mountain. Polo Promotions did their football line up while we all chanted duelling Polo Promotions/Moustache Mountain chants that lasted what must have been 10 minutes before the bell even rang. I was obviously chanting for my favourite tag team right now Polo Promotions and smacking the back wall with my hands that are still sore three days on. A really good tag match that went back and forth with eventually Polo Promotions getting the win. Both teams shook hands so we could cheer for Moustache mountain and appreciate both teams. Really fun show. Crowd were amazing and even louder than ever. It was also announced that on the 29th July Jeff Cobb will be coming to Carlisle. Now putting my fantasy booking hat on again I would like to see Jeff Cobb vs Johnny Moss in a big heavyweight match that, if you haven't seen what Cobb can do, will literally steal the show.

Target Wrestling: 4th anniversary show, Carlisle, 22 April 2017
By Michael Cook @TheMCook My local promotion, Target Wrestling, had their 4th Anniversary Show on 22nd April. I was there and it is amazing to be part of one of the loudest crowds I have been in when going to the wrestling. My favourite tag team, Polo Promotions, defeated The Guest List tag team James Scott and Martin Kirby to become the new tag champions. Really good match that must have had a 20 minute long Polo Promotions/James Scott's a wanker chant that my voice didn't recover from until the Monday after the show! Paul London was the Target Wrestling High Octane champion and was supposed to face Target Wrestling champion Shady Nattrass in a 2/3 falls match. However, due to a knee injury, London had to pull out of the show. This affected two matches. First match was a fatal four way match between Michael Chase, ‘Turbo’ Josh Terry, Damon Havok and DCT. This was supposed to be a number 1 contenders match for the High Octane championship. Now that title was vacated due to injury it then became a championship match. Great high flyer Josh Terry won that match and he is definitely someone to watch out for in the future. 'Turbo’ Josh Terry. The second match affected was the main event for the Target Wrestling Heavyweight championship. Shady Nattrass was going to give himself the night off but out came Lucha Underground star Angelico to challenge him. It was a good match that ended with a great looking dive from the stage by Angelico into the ring but was caught by an RKO from Shady for the win. Other results from the show was Karnage defeating Mikey Whiplash in a good opener. Medallion defeated Coyote Kid in a street fight in an OK match. Not really a fan but they put on a good hardcore rules match. Medallion won with help from a fake medallion and women's wrestler Ivy Mist. Mist and real Medallion took three attempts at a conchairto that was not timed well at all but these things happen. Also Joe Coffey defeated Grado in an entertaining match. Joe Coffey is part of the heel faction the Guest List with James Scott, Martin Kirby, Mikey Whiplash and manager Marc Allan. After the match they all attacked Grado. Polo Promotions and local wrestler Karnage made the save. Great show and a great crowd. Next show is on 20th May featuring an appearance from Joel Gertner. Polo Promotions will defend the tag titles against Tyson T Bone and Rampage Brown and Shady Nattrass will defend in a four way elimination match. So far Karnage has gained a spot in that match. |
