For the first time ever, Pro Wrestling Chaos streamed live on Internet pay-per-view via Powerbomb TV. A huge landmark for a promotion which started off as three mates setting up a small show in Yate, Bristol almost five years ago. Well done to absolutely everyone who has helped Pro Wrestling Chaos get to this stage. It does beg the question as to where they can go from here in terms of growth. If only Colston Hall wanted a wrestling show...
El Ligero vs. Josh Knott (Pre-iPPV Facebook exclusive dark match) Chaos veteran and former tag team champion El Ligero returned after missing last months The Wrestle Squanchers event as a surprise guest in this opening contest against a relatively unknown opponent (unknown at least to a portion of the Chaos roster) in Josh Knott. Knott has wrestled for promotions such as Pro Wrestling Pride (where he's one half of the current tag team champions alongside NXT alumni Joel Redman), Pro Evolution Wrestling and Plymouth Wrestling Association. This contest may have featured Junior Junior referee Huw Jenkins' finest moment in a wrestling ring when he was able to roll up Knott for a three count. A moment of comedy that fans of Ligero have come to expect over the years. It was Ligero who managed to pick up the win in this contest with a top rope splash. Both wrestlers, however, did a great job of introducing Josh Knott to this audience in Thornbury. Winner - El Ligero Onto the main show and once the cameras started rolling, ring announcer Rob Maltman called Eddie Dennis out to the ring. Eddie had a few words for Pro Wrestling Chaos who have guaranteed to honour his bookings, much like they've done with other wrestlers in the past, while he recovers from his injury. Eddie announced his operation will be on March 5th and on March 6th he'll be back in the gym working on his comeback. Eddie then took a seat on commentary for the opening contest. While Eddie is out injured, make sure you support him in any way you possibly can by picking up merchandise. If you're unable to afford it, a simple tweet to advertise would also go a long, long way. Keep up with Eddie's latest merchandise releases, as well as injury updates on Twitter - @EddieDennis1986 Alex Steele vs Chuck Mambo This had a very interesting pre-match dynamic as this was Eddie's former pal taking on one of his best buds. Alex, still sporting the crutch that he struck Eddie with in this same venue back in September, came out to seemingly mock his former tag team partner and Eddie looked ready to fight from the commentary table. Once the match got underway, the crowd was solidly behind the UK's Gnarliest Wrestler, although there were one or two people in the audience who would still consider themselves members of the Steele Section it would seem as voices were heard supporting the Bristol native. When Alex was unable to put Chuck away, he resorted to attempting to use the crutch that he'd brought to the ring with him. Mambo managed to block the attempted use of it before referee Paz took it away. With the referees back turned, Alex took a second crutch from under the ring and put it across Chuck's head to pick up the victory. Winner - Alex Steele After the match, Alex continued to beat down Chuck with the crutch before Eddie Dennis prevented Steele from inflicting further damage. Eddie had earlier vowed to get revenge on Alex so with this attack on his close friend Chuck Mambo, that's sure only added fuel to the raging fire that's burning within The Pride of Wales. Crazy Teacups (Eddie Ryan & Charlie Sterling) w/ Dr Pariah Khan vs Team H8 (Gideon & Jeckel) In a rematch from last month’s event The Wrestle Squanchers, Ryan and Sterling looked to pick up some much-needed momentum in the tag team division. However, the big question on minds of the Chaos Club was "Can these two now get along?" With Pari...sorry... Dr Pariah Khan making his return last month and aligning himself with The Crazy Teacups, there can only be positive things to come out of this for the two West-Country natives. Sterling and Ryan did manage pick up the win here despite having a few mishaps along the way in terms of communication. However, a win is a win and surely, they’re only moving onto bigger things as a team. Well, only if Eddie would stop superkicking Charlie like he did post-match here. They are starting to get on the same page so the rest of the tag teams in Chaos should beware that The Crazy Teacups are here to take on the division. Winners – Crazy Teacups (Charlie Sterling & Eddie Ryan) Jamie Hayter vs Session Moth Martina Both women were making their Pro Wrestling Chaos returns after their participation in October’s Maiden of Chaos tournament at Hanham Community Centre. In fact, this was one of the two semi-final contests from that tournament so we essentially had another rematch at Control, Alt, Delete. Martina, who left her 34 kids at home for the evening, came out with her signature can of lager. Just when it looked as though Jamie was going join her on a ‘sesh’, Hayter started pouring the can outside of the ring. Both Martina and the referee had to make sure that the can was OK as they checked for a pulse. When all was revealed to be OK, the match finally started. This match was hugely important, especially with champion Jinny sidelined with an injury, the winner of this would surely become the number one contender for her title once she’s cleared to compete? If the winner is to become the number one contender, it would be Session Moth Martina after she levelled Jamie with a devastating Tombstone Piledriver to pick up the three count. Surely, she’ll be gunning for Jinny and the Maiden of Chaos championship when the title holder is ready to return to the ring. Winner – Session Moth Martina National Wrestling Alliance Worlds Heavyweight Championship – Nick Aldis vs Big Grizzly If getting onto iPPV wasn’t enough for the fans of Pro Wrestling Chaos, there was the huge contest for the most historical championship in the history of this sport. NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis was in Thornbury to defend his title. Aldis won the title back in December from Tim Storm at CZW’s Cage of Death and he wasn’t ready to drop the title here against the biggest, baddest Welshman in professional wrestling. The match seemed to be moving along nicely until referee Paz got caught in the wrong part of town and was subsequently squashed by Aldis in the corner when Grizzly looked to use the World Championship as a weapon. With no referee, Grizzly’s huge powerbomb was seemingly in vein and as he looked to revive the ref, he spotted the Ten Pounds of Gold laying on top of Paz. Looking to use the belt as a weapon, Grizz was caught with a low blow which did not go down well with this Bristolian crowd. Aldis then clocked the big man with the title but Big Grizzly kicked out at two. Moments later, after missing a top rope manoeuvre, Grizzly seemed to tweak a knee and Aldis had his man right where he wanted him as he locked in the Kings Lynn Cloverleaf which the challenger had no choice but to submit to as the Aldis Crusade continues. Aldis’ tactics didn’t seem to go down too well with the audience, and Grizzly has every right to feel aggrieved, but the National Treasure is still the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Winner and still NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion – Nick Aldis Andrew Everett vs Dick Riley A match that should’ve taken place in Chaos twelve months ago finally happened. Unfortunately, Everett sustained an injury in February last year meaning he was unable to face Dick Riley in this same venue. However, Chaos management made the match that they’d promised fans a year ago and boy did it deliver! Unfortunately for Riley, he’s been on the wrong end of results over that twelve-month period. Dick hasn’t won a one-on-one contest (that’s excluding his sneaky pin on then ATTACK! 24/7 Champion Nixon Newell at Sweet Dreams in April). The Pro Wrestling Chaos 2017 wrestler of the year is never one to back down from a challenge and has continued to prove just how good he is with stellar matches against wrestlers such as Speedball Mike Bailey, WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and IWGP Jr Heavyweight Champion Will Ospreay. Everett is not to be sold short though. Having held tag team gold in both AAW and PWG, as well as being a regular contender for the Impact Wrestling X Division Championship throughout 2016 and 2017, you could be forgiven for thinking that Everett was the heavy favourite in this contest given the level of experience the 25-year-old from Burlington, NC has. However, as valuable as that experience is, it wasn’t enough for ‘The Apex of Flight’ in this contest as Riley finally picked up the victory that has been eluding him over the past year. Congratulations, Dick! You deserved that moment! Winner – Dick Riley Mark Haskins vs Beano This was one of the more anticipated matches on this stacked card with Beano, fresh off his fantastic showing against James Drake last month facing one of the most talked about wrestlers in the entire world in Mark Haskins. Haskins C.V. speaks for itself winning championships in promotions across the globe while Beano is only a couple of years into his career but has showed fans of promotions such as Chaos, Dragon Pro and ATTACK! that he’s not to be taken lightly (as Big Grizzly found out in 2017). However, this is a new year and Beano is a more experienced and wiser wrestler than he was a year ago. He also seems determined to be recognised as a legitimate threat to anyone he steps into the ring with and that determination was what gave Mark Haskins a debut to remember in the land of Pro Wrestling Chaos. To his credit, Beano certainly brought his A-game to Thornbury as he looked to score the win in the biggest match of his career against one of the best wrestlers this country has ever produced. Many fans have called this the match of the night and it’d be hard to disagree with that as both men gave absolutely everything they had. Haskins learned a thing or two about Beano that night and even though he picked up the submission victory, he may even be tempted to return to Chaos down the line for a rematch with Man Like Beano! Winner – Mark Haskins The Brotherhood (James Drake, Joe Mezinger, ELIJAH and Nathan Bane) vs Mike Bird, Drew Parker and The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne and Los Federales Santos Jr) Onto the least fun part of the show now and that’s because The Anti-Fun Police vowed to stop James Drake and his brothers’ brand of fun in Thornbury. Chief Deputy Dunne was making his in-ring return to Chaos after over 18 months away. Returning to the scene of his last Chaos contest, he, along with his teammates looked to take down the single most threatening faction to have ever graced the Chaos ring. Portions of the Chaos Club seemed glad to see the return of Dunne with supportive chants of “we hate fun” and “El Capitan” as well as “no fun, nada” when Santos got a taste of the action. Four men who weren’t happy to see them were The Brotherhood who looked as vicious as ever with their gang-like mentality of isolate and destroy. However, when the numbers are even, The Brotherhood must search for new ways to stay on top in contests like this. They showed their versatility, resilience and cunning to pick up a hard-earned victory in this main event – Albeit with ELIJAH’s use of the Knights of Chaos championship belt to the skull of Drew Parker as he looked to put James Drake away. Mr. Mayhem was then able to secure the pinfall and the victory for The Brotherhood. They weren’t done there however. Clearly not satisfied with winning, we almost saw a ‘return to the scene of the crime’ moment as Drake looked as though he was going to cut up the ring canvas again as he’d done back in September. Dave Mercy rushed to the ring to put a halt to it however was made to pay for his actions as Drake laid Mercy out with a huge forearm. The violence didn’t stop there, however, as Mezinger hit Dave with his own finishing move – the RKO – directly onto the Pro Wrestling Chaos logo on the canvas before Bane, Mezinger and ELIJAH finished the brutality with a devastating powerbomb. Winners – The Brotherhood How does this effect the landscape of Pro Wrestling Chaos leading into Total Chaos in March? There will surely be repercussions for The Brotherhood prior to that event…sorry…those events at Hanham Community Centre. Total Chaos will be a double event on March 24th. Hanham usually sells out so make sure you purchase tickets now if you wish to be a part of the most unpredictable date in the Chaos calendar! Tickets available now from www.prowrestlingchaos.com

Pro Wrestling Chaos kicked off 2018 at their newest, and arguably most impressive venue to date -Kings Oak in Kingswood. The last show from 2017 almost seemed a distant memory, however, in true Chaos fashion, the fans in attendance were quickly reminded of why Pro Wrestling Chaos are a promotion on the rise and most certainly one to really keep an eye on throughout 2018!
James Drake vs. Beano This match was not announced prior to the event but that did not stop the Chaos Club from enjoying this. In fact, this match proved why unannounced matches can sometimes catch the eye more than those that are announced. It was a year ago that Drake, along with fifteen other wrestlers, competed in the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament in Blackpool. Those twelve months have flown by and Drake has certainly made a name for himself in promotions such as PROGRESS Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Chaos holding tag team gold in both promotions. Beano had to be on his guard in this contest as lurking on the outside was the violent Nathan Bane. The Brotherhood never work alone and any opponent has to constantly keep an eye on the outside of the ring. Beano was able to keep Bane at bay for large portions of the match but wasn't able to prevent him from twice getting involved. The second time was a crucial moment in the match when Beano hit Drake with a hangman's yurinagi from the top rope. Bane dragged referee Paz out of the ring just as it looked as though Beano was about to defeat the leader of The Brotherhood. Bane was then left to feel the wrath of Beano as he was soon levelled with the same move that almost defeated his leader moments before. However that was enough of a distraction as Drake was able to roll-up Beano, assisted with a handful of trunks, to pick up the win and continue the dominance that he and his stablemates have had over Chaos for the last five months. Winner - James Drake Team H8 vs. Charlie Sterling & Eddie Ryan Charlie Sterling is a great showman and there is absolutely no doubting that. Having returned to Chaos in February 2017, Sterling has been a fantastic source of entertainment for the fans. That's even when he's been at the expense of the joke! As for his tag team partner, Eddie has struggled for form over the last twelve months picking up just two wins throughout 2017. Granted those two wins were against Rampage Brown and Mikey Whiplash, but other than that, Eddie struggled against names you'd expect him to win against. So, a new year and perhaps some new luck for The English Lion? No, not in the slightest. The match was won by Team H8 but it was the aftermath that shocked the land of Chaos. Winners - Team H8 After the match, there appeared to be some dissension in the ranks of Ryan and Sterling, a familiar voice came through - Pariah Khan had returned! Yes, the former owner of Pro Wrestling Chaos was back and during his time away, he had dedicated himself to becoming a qualified Doctor. 'The Asian Sensation', as he dubbed himself, had returned to help Eddie who, as all Chaos fans are aware, has gone through some troubled times since being hit in the head with a ladder at Heir 2 The Throne in 2016. The Chaos Club were even treated to an embrace in the middle of the ring between Sterling and Ryan, albeit a rather awkward hug. Stay tuned to Chaos' social media channels to see what Dr. Pariah Khan has planned for Sterling and Ryan over the coming weeks! Eddie Dennis vs. Big Grizzly This is a match of what possibly could have been as Eddie Dennis suffered an injury to his right shoulder very early in the contest. The effort and endeavour put forward by 'The Pride of Wales' was incredible. For a good fifteen minutes, he wrestled a man regarded as one of the best in the country right now. Dennis almost picked up the win with a Next Stop Driver but Grizzly was able to get a foot on the rope. Moments later Grizzly, seemingly overcome with frustration, struck his fellow Welshman in the head with his Heir To The Throne briefcase to cause a disqualification. Grizzly told the fans it was a good thing that Dennis lost the belt to Matt Riddle at All or Nothing because right now he'd be cashing in his guaranteed title shot. A video then appeared on the tron showing Alex Steele. Alex was away on his honeymoon in Thailand but indicated that he had not finished with Eddie Dennis. With Control, Alt, Delete coming up on February 17th, could we finally see the former Steele Dragons facing off one-on-one in a Chaos ring? Winner via DQ - Eddie Dennis Inter Dimensional Portal Match The first (and probably last) ever Inter Dimensional Portal match showcased some of the best young talent in the UK today. In a match inspired by Rick & Morty (which the show was based on), we saw several debut's including Cal Adams, Posada, Josh Holly, Chuck Mambo and Splits McPins, whilst Sierra Loxton and Brendan White, who have both appeared at Chaos several times in the past, completed the field for this contest. The match also featured guest appearances from a couple of Meeseeks to assist Josh Holly when he called for help. The contest was won by Sierra Loxton however the major talking point came after the bell when Pro Wrestling Chaos witnessed the debut of the haunting Kaggy. However, she was not alone as not too far behind her was the returning former two-time King of Chaos Champion The Wild Boar! Wasting little time in making his presence felt, Boar completely destroyed everything in his path and left a trail of devastation which will be felt throughout the land of Chaos for a long time to come. Winner - Sierra Loxton Maiden of Chaos Championship - Jinny vs. Sofia Ari Another debut from the Dragon Pro Academy this time came in the form of the highly rated Sofia Ari who has been making waves in Dragon Pro with some extremely impressive performances as of late. Unfortunately for Sofia, Jinny was able to beat her relatively quickly to retain her championship. With an impressive victory like this against a highly rated challenger, Chaos management may have to search far and wide to find Jinny's next challenger. Winner and STILL Maiden of Chaos - Jinny Knights of Chaos Championship - Mike Bird & Drew Parker vs. The Brotherhood (ELIJAH & Joe Mezinger) By virtue of their victory at All or Nothing, Bird and Parker were granted their Knights of Chaos Championship opportunity at The Wrestle Squanchers against the current champions, The Brotherhood. 'Mr. Mayhem' James Drake accompanied his brothers to the ring however, he was quickly ejected from ringside by Junior Junior referee Huw Jenkins. This match showed just how dominant Mezinger and ELIJAH can be without their brothers at ringside while Bird and Parker also showed just how much grit and determination they have to keep up with the most violent and imposing stable in Pro Wrestling Chaos history. The even contest was brewing up to what should have been a fair and conclusive finish until ELIJAH took a chair to the referee. A disqualification wasn't called for and soon after, James Drake returned to ringside and assisted his brothers in retaining the Knights of Chaos Championships. Winners and STILL Knights of Chaos - The Brotherhood The beat down continued post match as James Drake took to the microphone saying that he, along with his brothers, would love to leave Pro Wrestling Chaos. However, they're having way too much fun! That just so happened to be the wrong choice of words from the WWE UK Championship star as this brought to the ring the returning Chief Deputy Dunne along with his partner Los Federales Santos Jr. The Anti-Fun Police, along with Bird and Parker, cleared house and cleared house. Dunne then informed The Brotherhood that at Control, Alt, Delete on February 17th that they would be facing himself, Los Federales Santos Jr., Drew Parker and Mike Bird! 'Dirty' Dick Riley vs. Will Ospreay This had been one of the most anticipated contests in Pro Wrestling Chaos history. Billed as 'Dick vs. Willy', the Chaos Club were treated to a contest between the 2017 Pro Wrestling Chaos wrestler of the year vs. the current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion. This was a match that would've stolen the show on any card up and down the country. Heck, this could've stolen the show on a lot of cards across the world! Riley's record over the last ten months or so in Chaos has been less than stellar to say the very least. However, when you're facing wrestlers who are holding WWE and New Japan gold, and having the match of the night on a regular basis, there really is no shame in defeat. Unfortunately for everyone's favourite Dick, it was Will Ospreay who picked up the win in an epic 20+ minute back-and-forth tussle here which sent the fans into an absolute frenzy throughout. This is one of those matches that fans will look back on at the end of the year and it will be in most people's minds as a Match of the Year contender! Winner - Will Ospreay So that just about wraps up Pro Wrestling Chaos: The Wrestle Squanchers. The next offering comes from Thornbury Leisure Centre on February 17th with a card that includes three huge debut's! Firstly there's the NWA World's Heavyweight Champion, Nick Aldis who WILL be defending the most historical championship in professional wrestling. Also, we'll see the debut of the high flying Andrew Everett. Everett was supposed to debut a year ago however, he suffered an unfortunate injury at that time. Lastly, arguably the best wrestler in the UK right now Mark Haskins will be making his Chaos debut. Please remember that Travis Banks was scheduled to appear. However due to circumstances beyond the control of Pro Wrestling Chaos, Travis will no longer be on the card. Don't let that deter you from attending OR from watching live on iPPV through powerbomb.tv. If you sign up using the promo code PWCHAOS you will receive 20 days of ALL Powerbomb content for free. After that, the cost is simply $9.99 (USD) per month. Which is roughly £7.21, €8.17 or ¥1,106.64. So another year has finished in the land of Pro Wrestling Chaos and it was arguably their most successful year to date. There were 11 shows in total, four Kings of Chaos, four different Knights of Chaos and the first ever Maiden of Chaos. Along with that, four non-Chaos Championships were defended throughout those 11 shows. With all of that, and more in mind, here is my Chaos top ten talking points and moments from the year.
10. The Return of a Prince OK, so up until this year, Drew Parker had only made one appearance in a Pro Wrestling Chaos ring. That appearance came at Heir to the Throne 2015 but he has since made his way back into Chaos via several other promotions. Unfortunately for Parker, his first two matches back ended in defeat however after a victory in the Knights of the Squared Circle match at All or Nothing alongside tag partner Mike Bird, Drew has a Knights of Chaos championship match in his sights. It's fair to say, the future is certainly looking bright for the 'The Urchin Prince' and 2018 could...no, WILL be a huge year for this extremely talented individual. 9. Team H8 Reunites At January's Mysterious City of Chaos, after a gruelling tag team contest featuring Gideon and Sierra Loxton against the team of Jetta and Jeckel, the group known as The Brotherhood looked to target 'The Red Emperor' and 'The Freaky Princess'. Jeckel, not liking the idea of someone capitalising on his carnage came back to the ring to dispose of Nathan Bane, ELIJAH and Joe Mezinger. Similar scenarios took place at Chaos B' Ballin' in February and Total Chaos in March before Jeckel finally accepted Gideon's offer to re-unite Team H8 at April's Sweet Dreams. Over the coming months, the two teams would go back and forth, with Team H8 enlisting the help of their good friend Mikey Whiplash to even the numbers. After a brutal assault by The Brotherhood on Whiplash, Jeckel and Gideon, as well as their ally Sierra Loxton at Heir to the Throne, Chaos owner Dave Mercy set the stage for August's event Unleashed where Team H8 & Mikey Whiplash would go on to face, and defeat, The Brotherhood inside of a steel cage putting an end to the violent feud. The feud may be over, but with Team H8 have remained together picking up a victory over Mike Bird and Drew Parker at The Sound of Violence as well as being a part of the Knights of the Squared Circle match at All or Nothing. It looks as though Team H8 is here to stay and that can only mean bad things for anyone wishing to stand in their way. 8. We Love Dick! After his former tag team partner, Chris Walker, turned on him at Let Them Eat Chaos to close out 2016, Dick Riley emerged as one of the most loved and revered wrestlers on the roster in 2017. Starting the year with victories over his former Magnums teammate as well as Charlie Sterling, many thought that Dick would continue on that hot streak. With great performances against the likes of Pete Dunne, Marty Scurll and Mike Bailey, it became clear that Riley was indeed a very, very special talent. Unfortunately, he tasted defeat more often than not but he was able to capture the ATTACK! Pro Wrestling 24/7 Title from Nixon Newell at Chaos' Sweet Dreams event in April. One has to wonder what's in store for 2018 for the man who recently went through WWE tryouts. He's got an extremely bright future, let's hope for a more successful 2018 for Dick! 7. Wa You Sayin, Grizz? After Grizzly's Heir to the Throne win in July, he set out an open challenge for Unleashed which was answered by Dragon Pro Academy graduate, Beano. In a real David vs. Goliath battle of the two Welshmen, it was the underdog who came out on top and left Yate with Grizzly's Heir to the Throne briefcase in hand. Over the coming months, Beano would show up during Grizzly's matches against Mark Andrews and Keith Lee with the Heir to the Throne briefcase. After Grizz's win over Keith Lee at Coalition of Chaos, escaped once again with the briefcase in hand as Grizzly looked to attack his nemesis. The conclusion to the rivalry was set for All or Nothing in a ladder match. Beano more than held his own but it was the monstrous Grizzly who walked away victorious in this rivalry. 6. This is the Modern World If any one faction could say they ruled the Chaos landscape in 2017, then surely The Modern Culture are the one team that can make that claim. It all started at January's Mysterious City of Chaos when Morgan Webster cashed in his Heir to the Throne briefcase to dethrone Wild Boar as the King. Unfortunately for the King of the Mod's, Dave Mercy didn't recognise this title change and instead held up the title and made a seven man elimination match for the King of Chaos title at Chaos B' Ballin'. Webster would be included alongside Jimmy Havoc, Mike Bird, Eddie Ryan, Dave Mastiff, Big Grizzly and former King, Wild Boar. Webster would last eliminate Mike Bird to become the new King of Chaos. Earlier on in that show, his Modern Culture stablemates Danny Jones and Edwin Ricci defeated The Steele Dragons and Project Lucha to become the Knights of Chaos. Over the following months, both the King and Knights of Chaos had successful title defences, Jones and Ricci even faced the ICW Tag Champs, Bird & Boar at Sweet Dreams with both championships on the line. The Knights held the titles up until Heir to the Throne where they lost to Project Lucha and Jones soon ventured out to Japan for a successful tour with All-Japan Pro Wrestling while Ricci lost his rematch for the titles alongside Matthew Horgan at The Sound of Violence. Webster's reign went through several challengers such as Wild Boar at Total Chaos, Alex Steele at Sweet Dreams and Eddie Dennis at Heir to the Throne. With Unleashed upon the horizon, and a triple threat main event set between Webster, Dennis and Steele, 'The Modfather' challenged both men to a stipulation where the man who was pinned would have to leave Chaos. The man not involved in the decision would not be able to compete for the title for the rest of 2017. Unfortunately for Webster, it was he who took the pin from Eddie Dennis and was forced to leave Chaos. As unpopular as he was among the Chaos fans, Webster left to a huge ovation. Whether we see him down the line or not is another matter, so for now we say thank you, Webster! 5. And the Award for Best Actor Goes to... ...Alex Steele! Yes ladies and gentlemen, Alex Steele put on a great acting performance at The Sound of Violence. Eddie won the King of Chaos title at Unleashed in a triple threat match. In the following weeks, Alex announced that he had indeed re-injured the same ankle he'd broken previously. Eddie called Alex into the ring at The Sound of Violence where Alex spoke about his career, his love for wrestling and how fans should keep supporting independent wrestling as he announced his retirement from the sport. Eddie returned to the ring to embrace his friend and assisted Alex in picking up the crutch he'd dropped in the ring. As Eddie bent down to pick it up, Alex turned on his best friend, the fans, the promotion and every single person he'd just thanked by striking Eddie with the crutch he had in his left hand. The tears were soon wiped away by those shedding them and the emotion turned from sadness to anger as Alex started a new chapter in his career. 4. Pride Becomes King Seldom before 2017 had we seen Eddie Dennis in a King of Chaos title match. Perhaps that's why after his non-title victory over Morgan Webster at UnBroLievable, there was a huge outpouring of support for Eddie Dennis going into Heir to the Throne. Eddie had just resigned from his day job as the headmaster of a junior school in London to pursue a full-time career as a professional wrestler. Unfortunately, Eddie wasn't able to capture the title on that night in July after miscommunication between himself and then tag partner Alex Steele. The triple threat title match at Unleashed sent the fans in Yate through every emotion possible as Eddie Dennis became the King of Chaos for the first time as Webster departed the promotion and Alex was no longer able to compete for the title in 2017. 3. Grit Your Teeth! Cut The Canvas! For months, The Brotherhood teased that "He" was coming to the land of Chaos. After several performances that an apparent higher power within The Brotherhood wasn't happy with, Nathan Bane, Joe Mezinger and ELIJAH were caught several times on camera talking about the fact that this gentleman would be coming to Chaos. After the conclusion of the Knights of Chaos main event match at The Sound of Violence, The Brotherhood came out to clean house. Once the apparent carnage had come to an end, The Brotherhood's music blared through Thornbury Leisure Centre and "He" was revealed as WWE UK Superstar James Drake! With a lack of care, Drake then created arguably the most symbolic moment in Chaos history when he cut the Chaos logo from the ring canvas and paraded it as a championship. It's safe to say that The Brotherhood are here to stay and they will take anything they want! That was fully evidenced when Bane and ELIJAH captured the Knights of Chaos titles at Coalition of Chaos in October. Moving into 2018, one has to wonder: Who can stop The Brotherhood? 2. The Maiden of Chaos What a success that day was, right? The October double header Coalition of Chaos saw the crowning of the first ever Maiden of Chaos. The afternoon show saw the quarter and semi final matches while the evening show was headlined by the final. Eight women fought for the right to compete in that main event. The eight women named were Session Moth Martina, Dahlia Black, Sierra Loxton, Jinny, Ayesha Reymond, Viper, Jamie Hayter and Jetta. After an action packed quarter final round, Jinny vs. Sierra Loxton and Jamie Hayter vs. Session Moth Martina were confirmed as the semi final matches. Jinny shocked the Hanham audience by defeating the crowd favourite Loxton while Martina overcame Hayter to reach the final against Jinny. In a hard hitting encounter, it was 'The Fashionista' who left Hanham as the first ever Maiden of Chaos. All eight women would've been worthy winners that day, however there can only be one and for now, Jinny rules the women's division in the land of Chaos! 1. BRO! If Matthew Riddle hadn't had such a huge impact in his two matches at Pro Wrestling Chaos this year, then the Maiden of Chaos tournament would've easily made the number one spot. Alas, it wasn't to be. Riddle's first appearance came at the UnBroLievable event at Westbury-on-Trym in June where he defended his PROGRESS Atlas Championship against Mike Bird in what many have called the Pro Wrestling Chaos match of the year. Hell, some have even called it the match of the year from any British promotion in 2017. Both men tore each other apart in that particular contest, however, unfortunately for one of the Chaos Club's favourites, it was the 'King of Bros' who emerged victorious. Fast forward a couple of months and Chaos teased that somebody would be returning and at The Sound of Violence, it was announced that that someone would be Matt Riddle. After Eddie Dennis successfully defended his King of Chaos title against Eddie Ryan at Coalition of Chaos, he demanded a match with Alex Steele. Dave Mercy rejected his request so Eddie instead chose to face Riddle at All or Nothing. After a back and forth battle, it was Riddle who was able to make 'The Pride of Wales' submit to become the new King of Chaos. Riddle has taken the belt back to America with him, and what's to say that there won't be a title defence across the pond? So that's my Pro Wrestling Chaos top ten for 2017. It's been a great year for this promotion and they're constantly getting bigger and better! Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre played host to Pro Wrestling Chaos' biggest event of the year, All or Nothing as the Bristolian promotion debuted in this particular part of the city. All or Nothing usually throws up a few surprises and memorable matches such as the epic Dave Mercy vs. Flash Morgan Webster clash from May 2015 and Team Mercy vs. Team Khan from 2016. It was the first time this particular event had been held outside of Yate Leisure Centre, however the Bradley Stoke audience was just as intrigued and gripped by the action as any other venue the Chaos roster has wrestled in front of this year.
As has been the case in previous years, the 2017 All or Nothing event wasn't short of shocks, surprises and controversy. It really is the biggest event of the Chaos calendar and that was fully evidenced before the show with the announcement of three huge stars. Firstly, former MMA star and the man who wrestled what many are calling the Match of the Year back in June, Matthew Riddle, would challenge Eddie Dennis for the King of Chaos championship. Current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion Marty Scurll and current CZW Wired Champion Joey Janela were also announced to compete. Big Grizzly vs. Beano - Heir to the Throne Contract Ladder Match This rivalry dated back to August's Unleashed event where Beano answered Big Grizzly's open challenge and went on to win that particular 'David vs. Goliath' battle. That evening, Beano became the Chaos Club's favourite kleptomaniac when he stole Grizzly's briefcase. Three months on, and with the briefcase suspended above the ring, the war was on as Grizzly and Beano fought hard for the right to be called Mr. Heir to the Throne. Grizzly had the clear size advantage and used that early on to keep his fellow Dragon Pro graduate grounded. As ever with 'Man Like Beano', the crowd was behind him and he used that energy to get back into the contest and put up more than a good enough fight. Unfortunately for Beano, he was chokeslammed through a ladder leaving Grizzly clear to take down the briefcase and hold it aloft as he retained the contract that was rightfully his. Winner - Big Grizzly Chris Andrews vs. Nathan Bane w/ ELIJAH Chris Andrews made his Pro Wrestling Chaos debut here against one quarter of the most feared faction in Chaos history. Andrews controlled the early exchanges but the vicious Nathan Bane survived that early flourish to take the advantage. As is usually the case when a member of The Brotherhood is involved, the numbers game became the talking point as Andrews looked to regain momentum, James Drake and Joe Mezinger hit the ring to assist their brother. The numerical advantage in favour of Bane proved to be too much as he picked up the win over the Chaos newcomer. Winner - Nathan Bane The assault continued post match and just when it seemed as though Drake was going to give the audience a piece of his mind, Project Lucha came out and attacked The Brotherhood quickly setting up the Knights of Chaos championship match. The Brotherhood (Joe Mezinger & James Drake) vs. Project Lucha (Martin Kirby & El Ligero) - Knights of Chaos Championship match For those unaware, it was announced earlier in the week that The Brotherhood would be defending the Knights of Chaos Championship under Freebird Rules, meaning any combination of Drake, Mezinger, ELIJAH and Bane would be eligible to compete in future title matches. Having still not recovered from the assault before the match, Drake and Mezinger spent several minutes on the back foot at the start of this contest. However, when they seized control, they looked to be at their dominant best. That was until Mezinger, seemingly trying to impress James Drake, momentarily dropped the ball as Project Lucha looked to regain the upper hand. It seemed that they had the match wrapped up as Ligero ascended to the top rope, however ELIJAH came back down to ringside donning the mask which he'd taken from Ligero at Coalition of Chaos in October. Ligero took off after Ligero leaving Kirby facing a two vs. one scenario which he was unable to overcome as The Brotherhood retained the Knights of Chaos titles. Winners and still Knights of Chaos Champions - The Brotherhood IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion 'The Villain' Marty Scurll vs. 'Dirty' Dick Riley Dick Riley has certainly been making a name for himself in 2017. With matches against the likes of Pete Dunne, Mike Bailey and now Marty Scurll, it's easy to see why he's regarded so highly by the fans of Pro Wrestling Chaos. Scurll's C.V. speaks for itself being the current IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Champion, a former Ring of Honor TV Champion as well as being the only two-time PROGRESS Wrestling Champion. Those credentials were certainly a recipe for a great wrestling match, and that's certainly what the fans in attendance were treated to. This was a match where both men had their dominating moments, but still gave the Chaos Club enough back-and-forth action to leave them on the edge of their seats. Both men had to use everything and then some in their extensive arsenal's to try and put the other away. Being two of the most tenacious wrestlers in the UK today, it was surely to be expected that they wouldn't go down easily. It was 'The Villain' who took the victory with his signature Crossface Chickenwing submission against a very game 'Dirty' Dick Riley. After the match, Scurll took the mic and told the fans how, even with his busy schedule with Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling, he still loves to perform in the UK. He also spoke very highly of Riley, saying he deserves to have a job in wrestling - a point which many would struggle to argue with. Winner - 'The Villain' Marty Scurll Knights of the Squared Circle Number One Contenders Match - Team H8 vs. Mike Bird & Drew Parker vs. Mikey Whiplash & Joey Janela vs. Charlie Sterling & Eddie Ryan If there has been any match in Pro Wrestling Chaos this year to make the promotion live up to its name, it was most certainly this. Whether it was Charlie Sterling diving from the top rope onto everybody on the outside of the ring or Eddie Ryan superkicking anything that moved, his own partner included, this match had it all. One of the more anticipated and talked about potential face-off's in this battle was the possibility of seeing Drew Parker and Joey Janela going toe-to-toe. There were brief exchanges, one of which led to both men going backstage and there was a sense among members of the audience of curiosity as to how they'd re-emerge. Thankfully, there were no stunts which could've caused harm to either man, well, not just yet at least. Parker reappeared with a metal bin and Janela with a steel chair, however it would be Parker's weapon of choice that would prove to be pivotal here. 'The Urchin Prince' went coast-to-coast on the CZW Wired Champion as Mike Bird took out Mikey Whiplash with a piledriver from the top rope allowing Parker to cover 'The Necromancer' to pick up the win. Winners and number one contenders to the Knights of Chaos - Mike Bird & Drew Parker Jinny vs. Sierra Loxton - Maiden of Chaos Championship After winning a gruelling tournament at October's Coalition of Chaos, Jinny had her first title defence against the overwhelming fans favourite, Sierra Loxton. 'The Fashionista' was able to defeat 'The Freaky Princess' a month prior in the semi final of the Maiden of Chaos tournament and now Sierra had one thing on her mind and that was taking the Maiden of Chaos title from her adversary. On a night where everything was hard hitting in the ring, this match was to be no different. The huge spear that Sierra Loxton scored with was full proof of that and, to her credit, it was one that the likes of Goldberg and Roman Reigns would've been proud of. Unfortunately for the challenger, that hard hitting wasn't done there as the match ended with a swift shot to the face from Jinny to Sierra. Loxton wasn't able to kick out of the pin and 'The Fashionista' proved why she's the rightful Maiden of Chaos. Winner and still Maiden of Chaos - Jinny King of Chaos Championship - Eddie Dennis vs. Matthew Riddle It's not often that a wrestler would ask for a match with 'The King of Bro's', but that's exactly what Eddie Dennis did when he was refused a match against his former tag team partner, Alex Steele. In fact, Alex tried getting himself put into this title match before it began but he was sent packing by Riddle. Both men were on their game in this contest, almost to the level that Riddle was with Mike Bird back at June's UnBroLievable event and much like that contest, this certainly had more than a big fight atmosphere from bell-to-bell as the vocal fans in attendance kept the noise levels up throughout the duration of this gruelling contest. In fact, one of the very few things in this contest louder than the Chaos Club were the chops which thudded off of the challengers chest. The champion looked to have retained his title after scoring with a devastating Next Stop Driver, however just as referee Paz's hand was coming down for the three count, Alex Steele dragged the official from the ring to prevent Dennis from picking up one of his biggest victories in a Chaos ring. The King was distracted for long enough for Riddle to recover as he nailed Dennis with his signature jumping Tombstone which Dennis was able to kick out from. Riddle, in sheer disbelief, went to the one part of his game that rarely fails, and also didn't on this occasion as he locked in the Bromission, complete with vicious elbow strikes, which 'The Pride of Wales' was unable to escape from and was forced to submit. Winner and NEW King of Chaos Champion - Matthew Riddle The feeling around Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre was one of complete shock and disbelief as for the first time ever, Chaos had a non-Welsh champion. Few could call this an upset, but many would call this one of the shocks of the year, not just for Pro Wrestling Chaos, but British wrestling on the whole. The question now is, what's next for the King of Chaos Championship? Riddle will be taking the belt back to America with him so who knows? Maybe the King of Chaos Championship will be defended across the Atlantic and become a World Championship... The day had already been a great success following the first show of the day. New Knights of Chaos had been crowned with Nathan Bane and ELIJAH defeating Martin Kirby and El Ligero as well as Session Moth Martina and Jinny making it to the final of the Maiden of Chaos tournament. After a couple of pints and a bite to eat at a local Weatherspoons, the Chaos Club headed back to Hanham Community Centre to find out what the evening show had in store for us all.
Once the show started, Jaida attempted to announce our first match of the evening. I say attempted because she was cut off by Merlin Obadiah Cambridge who came down to the ring with flowers, a card and another item which he'd covered up. He asked Jaida to take hold of the flowers and read what was written on the card. "And the winner of the Academy Award for best actor goes to..." Merlin then points to the tron, where we get a 20th Century Fox type video with Alex Steele's name proudly emblazoned on the screen. With new music and a new attitude, Alex Steele made his way down to the ring to proudly accept the award. Alex then spoke about how he fooled everybody in Thornbury at The Sound of Violence before going on to talk about Eddie Dennis. Alex tells us how much of a bad person he believes Eddie is and how he was never Eddie's friend after countless occasions where he was left fallen while Eddie stood over him holding a championship. Just as Alex was receiving a phone call from his "agent", Harvey Weinstein, the King of Chaos came out to confront his former tag team partner. As all chicken poop heels tend to do, Alex backed away but managed to cause enough of a distraction for Eddie Ryan to come to the ring to take out the King and our first match was underway! King of Chaos Title Match - Eddie Dennis vs. Eddie Ryan Right, this could get very confusing as I usually refer to both of these men as simply 'Eddie'. I'll do my best to refer to them by either their full or last names. This was a good opener with both men taking some hard shots from the other, as well as having to wrestle around the flowers destroyed by Eddie Dennis moments before the match. I never thought that I'd have to talk about flowers in a wrestling ring during a match in one of these reviews! First time for everything, I guess! As Eddie Dennis looked to put the number one contender away, Alex Steele re-emerged to distract the King. Alex proclaimed earlier in the show if he cannot compete for the title, then he'll make sure that Eddie Dennis doesn't hold it! He did his utmost to ensure Dennis lost this match, however unfortunately for Alex, the interference was in vein as the King levelled the challenger with the Next Stop Driver to retain. Winner and Still King of Chaos - Eddie Dennis Jaida wasn't having much luck in this show. As she climbed into the ring to announce another match, the familiar and daunting sound of Alice in Chains' Hollow echoed around Hanham Community Centre as The Brotherhood made their way to the ring. Fronted by their new leader, James Drake, The Brotherhood took to the ring where Drake took the mic. The leader spoke about how they are taking control of Chaos as he showed off the piece of canvas which he cut up at the previous event, as well as Bane and ELIJAH showing off their shiny new belts. Drake said that what they had wasn't enough and wanted a piece of the new canvas. As he looked to cut it up, Martin Kirby took to the ring to stop what was going on. The numbers were far too much for the former Knight of Chaos as Mezinger, Bane and ELIJAH took the attack to him. Drake offered Kirby the opportunity to walk away without further assault, but the man from Yorkshire wasn't interested in walking away. He wanted to defend the honour of Project Lucha against the band of brothers who destroyed their Knights of Chaos title reign earlier in the day. Drake sent Mezinger to the back to get a referee, and sure enough he did just that. Huw wasn't interested in refereeing the match with the condition that Kirby was in though, but Kirby insisted on fighting. James Drake vs. Martin Kirby This was Drake's Pro Wrestling Chaos in ring debut and to paraphrase another Chaos debutante, Matt Richards on commentary said this wasn't so much as wrestling but more of a vicious mugging. He wasn't wrong, either. With his band of brothers on the outside, Drake controlled large portions of this contest as was to be expected after the pre-match assault. Anytime Kirby managed a flourish of offence, he was quickly stopped in his tracks by The Brotherhood. It was indeed Drake who picked up the win in this contest with the Mr. Mayhem DDT. The question on my mind now is "Who can stop The Brotherhood?". They're looking far stronger now than they ever have before. The news that broke earlier this week is that they will be facing Project Lucha in a rematch for the Knights of Chaos titles at All or Nothing on November 25th at Chaos' newest venue, Bradley Stoke Leisure Centre. Winner - James Drake Sierra Loxton, Viper & Dahlia Black vs. Jamie Hayter, Ayesha Reymond & Jetta This was a contest born out of those who didn't make the final of the Maiden of Chaos tournament. It was cool to see all of these talented wrestlers in the ring at the same time. It's something that may not happen again so I'm thankful that I was there to see it live. One thing I learned from this match is that Dahlia Black should probably not attempt a hip attack again for a while. Sierra and Viper were able to successfully take down Jamie and Ayesha with theirs, however Dahlia wasn't as successful when attempting to take out Jetta with hers. Put that one back in the locker, Dahlia. It was Dahlia who scored the winning fall in this match, much to the pleasure of PROGRESS Wrestling co-owner Glen Joseph who was in attendance for the show. She managed to roll up my MVP for the day, Jamie Hayter. Personally, I'd love to see her back in Chaos again. She was incredible throughout the day and looks to be an extremely talented individual. Winners - Dahlia Black, Viper & Sierra Loxton Jaida welcomed us back after intermission, only to be cut off again. Who the hell was it this time? Why, it was former Chaos ring announcer Hank McCoy who came out to a huge ovation. Hank hosted the raffle and asked Jaida if she'd be kind enough to allow him to introduce the next contest. She happily stood aside for Hank who introduced the following non-title contest... Dick Riley vs. WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne If Dick was nervous at all, there were absolutely zero signs of those nerves. He looked as confident as ever facing off against one of the most talked about wrestlers of 2017 in WWE Superstar Pete Dunne who was making his first Chaos appearance in seven months. It's fair to say that Pete had a lot of success in those seven months. He won the WWE UK Title, defended it in a non-WWE event for ICW, main evented one of the biggest events in UK independent wrestling history against Travis Banks for PROGRESS Wrestling and has basically beaten the crap out of anyone who's stood in his way. 2017, huh? That's not to sell Dick Riley short by any means. He's had some awesome matches over the last few months including a great outing against 'Speedball' Mike Bailey in September. Dick's stock is certainly on the rise and that was evident for all to see when he took part in the recent WWE try out's here in the UK along with the current King of Chaos Eddie Dennis and a plethora of other great wrestlers from these shores. They should all be applauded and, who knows? Maybe one day they'll be afforded the opportunities that The Bruiserweight has earned this year. From a wrestling standpoint, this was my favourite match of the entire day. Both men showed what most of us already knew and that's the fact that they're two of the absolute best that this country has to offer. If you've not seen Dick Riley before, please do sign up to UK Wrestling on demand for just £3.99 a month (cheap plug) and find out what the fans of Pro Wrestling Chaos already know. Unfortunately for Dick, as impressive as he was here, it was The Bruiserweight who took the win here after scoring with The Bitter End. It's fair to say that after this, Pete didn't have a bad week. He wrestled at ATTACK! Pro Wrestling the following evening and then eight days later, made his WWE main roster debut when he defeated Enzo Amore on WWE RAW. 2017 indeed! Winner - WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne Keith Lee vs. Big Grizzly Time for some Big Lads Wrestling (I'm almost certain Glen Joseph screamed inside when that chant started). As soon as it was announced that Keith Lee would be on the show, I didn't want to see him face anyone else. After all, Grizzly has been incredible this year. The levels of improvement he's made have been awesome and it's a credit to just how hard he works. Much to his chagrin, Beano came out, sporting a shirt, tie and tracksuit bottoms, to commentate with Merlin Obadiah Cambridge and Matt Richards. Now, I have to admit that I seriously feared for my life with these two behemoths beating the crap out of each other. Especially when they came to the outside and Grizzly threw a superkick to Keith Lee right in front of my face. Scary moment! Entertainment-wise, this was the match of the night. Keith Lee reminds me a lot of Bobby Fish in terms of how much he talks in the ring. That's not a bad thing either because it's bloody hilarious! There aren't many who can get over with an audience by what they say in the ring but clearly Keith Lee is one of those few. After a rather indifferent run of results since winning Heir To The Throne, it was Grizzly who ended up picking up the win here with a chokeslam followed up by a middle rope senton. Afterwards, Grizzly put over Keith Lee and the Chaos fans before turning his attentions back to Beano. Grizzly promised not to put his hands on Beano if he came to the ring and handed him back his Heir To The Throne briefcase. Beano was wise to the situation though and avoided an attack by the big Welshman before bouncing the briefcase off of the rightful owners noggin. Surely there has to be some way to settle this at All or Nothing on November 25th? I'm thinking it should involve some sort of climbing apparatus... Winner - Big Grizzly Maiden of Chaos Tournament Final - Jinny vs. Session Moth Martina The time had come to crown the first ever Maiden of Chaos as The Fashionista took on the Session Moth. Dave Mercy unveiled the awesome new title belt that these two ladies would be competing for before the match. After the usual pre-title match presenting of the belt, it was Jinny who took the attack to Martina with a vicious assault. The fight soon spilled outside where Session Moth was able to gain the upper hand for a moment when she suplexed Jinny onto the front row of chairs as the crowd started to get behind the Session Moth. Jinny later took control once again when she paid homage to her trainer and mentor, former Chaos General Manager Jimmy Havoc, when she scored with an Acid Rainmaker on the stage. The fight came back down to the ring where there was a heck of a lot of back and forth action. Martina used her beer as an ally while The Fashionista used her vicious streak. Whether you love her or hate her, there's no denying that Jinny can be an absolute bitch in the ring, and it's fair to say that she was in full-on bitch mode in this main event as she looked to become the Maiden of Chaos. Martina scored with a couple of German suplexes and as it looked as though she was going to nail a third, Jinny reversed the hold and locked the Session Moth in the devastating submission which had won her the quarter final and semi final matches against Viper and Sierra Loxton. The hold was cinched in tight and seemingly with nowhere to go and her arms being stretched by her opponent, Martina was forced to verbally submit as the tournament came to its conclusion. Winner and first ever Maiden of Chaos - Jinny There was an awesome post match showing of appreciation which wasn't included on the VOD for Martina. She received a standing ovation as well as a strong "Please come back!" chant. Personally, I'd love to see her back in Chaos one day. She's one of the most popular and entertaining wrestlers in Europe, and entertainment is exactly what wrestling is all about. That's a wrap folks. Apologies for the delay in getting this review out. I was waiting on the VOD to be released and understandably, the good people of Turning Face have been extremely busy with editing these two shows as well as doing all of the other great work they do (including taking pictures of Triple H!)
