The fourth event of 2017 for Pro Wrestling Chaos came to us from Chaos' spiritual home of Yate at the Leisure Centre. It was the fifth time Chaos had put on a show at this particular venue after two shows in each of 2015 and 2016. What would my hometown have in store for us for the first Chaos event of 2017? Let me guide you through the show as best I can...
Our ring announcer Rob Maltman hyped us up as only he can. He did get a few "Butlins" chants for is attire. The last guy wearing a red jacket in Chaos wasn't very well liked, Rob. Don't make the Chaos Club tar you with the same brush as Pariah Khan! 'The Pride of Wales' Eddie Dennis vs Charlie Sterling This was quite an interesting match. Not often do you see a man getting booed in his own city in wrestling. Especially when that city is Bristol and his opponent is Welsh. Unfortunately for Charlie Sterling, all bar a small section of fans who were on his side, the rest of this audience was solidly behind 'The Pride of Wales'. It got even more bizarre with the crowd heat of the local lad Sterling when he decided to disrespect the Welsh flag. Now, I know we have some Welsh fans in the crowd at these events, but to hear a Bristolian crowd booing one of their own for disrespecting the Welsh flag was something new to this reviewer! Sterling controlled large portions of the match and showed why he's regarded so highly by companies such as ICW and Rev Pro. He worked an aggressive style with small hints of his high flying capabilities that we tend to see in the aforementioned Insane Championship Wrestling. Being this dominant and aggressive, Sterling felt the need to anger his hometown crowd by flipping the bird on several occasions. Not cool, Charles! This is a family show! It was the Welshman who picked up the win here. After Charlie missed what appeared to be a corkscrew senton from the top rope, Eddie, who was bleeding from the nose, scored with the Next Stop Driver to pin Charlie and win the opening contest of the evening. This wouldn't be the last we'd see of Eddie on this show, though. Stay tuned folks... The Brotherhood vs Team H8 One of the big questions heading into this event was "Would Jeckel accept Gideon's offer to reunite Team H8?" Well, when Drowning Pool's 'Bodies' hit our ears, our questions were answered as Gideon and Jeckel hit the ring together to take the attack to The Brotherhood gaining an early advantage on the young up and comers. The momentum didn't last long though as the numbers game soon caught up to Team H8 and The Brotherhood showed us the domination that they've been promising for months. Even when Team H8 looked like they could make the tag, Nathan Bane distracted Jeckel on the apron long enough for Joe Mezinger drag 'The Red Emperor' back into The Brotherhood's corner to continue the beat down. One impressive moment in this match was when Elijah Dahl had Gideon in the tree of woe and it looked as though Dahl was going to hit a double stomp to his adversary. However, Gideon showed great core strength to lift himself up and throw Dahl off the top rope halfway across the ring. Now that was cool! Sadly for Team H8, they weren't able to pick up the win as The Brotherhood hit a Shield style triple powerbomb to Jeckel to pick up the win. What does this mean moving forward? Is this feud now over with? Or will we see more battles between these two teams? Stay in touch with Pro Wrestling Chaos on all platforms of social media to find out! 'The English Lion' Eddie Ryan vs 'The Innovator of Violence' Tommy Dreamer Now this isn't something you see everyday. A former two time World Champion and wrestling legend in your hometown. I grew up watching Tommy in the early 2000's in my mid teens and always loved his work. Now I was getting to see him wrestle while sat in the front row for one of my favourite promotions in my hometown of Yate. Definitely a dream come true for me to see the legend. After a few early exchanges, Tommy grabs the mic which didn't work initially. However, when Rob Maltman managed to fix the technical issue, Dreamer insisted that this match become no disqualifications, no count outs and falls count anywhere. Of course, the Chaos Club was all for this and I don't think Eddie Ryan had much choice in the matter because Ref Mark made the stipulation official. This was certainly one of the more hard fought battles of the night, but then I didn't expect anything less from 'The Innovator of Violence' and 'The English Lion'. Eddie has been begging for this type of opportunity for months and it's safe to say that he left a huge impression on those who thought he couldn't hang with a guy like Tommy. That's even with the weapons Dreamer introduced which included couple of beer cans from a fan in the front row, a ladder and the ring bell. The ring bell was quite possibly Ryan's least favourite as it was rung against a not too comfortable part of his anatomy! Although 'The English Lion' fought valiantly here against the ECW Original, it was Tommy who picked up the win with a Dreamer Driver onto a steel chair. Now that Eddie has had this huge opportunity, and lost, how much longer can he go on demanding big matches? One thing I wouldn't mind is seeing him forming a tag team with Big Grizzly. I think that could work perfectly given both men are constantly demanding the same things. However, more on Grizzly later on in the review. 'Dirty' Dick Riley vs 'The King of Dong Style' Joey Ryan vs 'The Girl With the Shiniest Wizard' Nixon Newell - ATTACK! Pro Wrestling 24/7 Title and DDT Pro Ironman Heavymetalweight Title Damn, that was a long title for this match, wasn't it? Now, before I talk about the match I should point out that both championships can change hands at any stage. With this in mind, Dick Riley decided to roll up Nixon Newell as she hit the ring during her entrance to become the new ATTACK! Pro Wrestling 24/7 Champion. Yep, the match hadn't even started and we had a pinfall. When the match finally did get started, there were lots of "We love Dick!" chants, which surprised both Joey and Nixon. The popularity of Dick is enormous. Almost as enormous as his...(wait for it)...former tag team partners ego! Were you expecting me to say something else? Speaking of dick, Joey seemed obsessed with wanting someone to touch his at the start of the match, but wasn't keen on comparing sizes with Riley. Yes, all of this happened on a family show and it was hilarious! The match itself was great fun to watch. Lots of comedy, lots of Dick loving, lots of shenanigans and lots of fun! Hell, we even ended the match with a new DDT Pro Ironman Heavymetalweight Champion when Nixon Newell pinned Joey Ryan to win the belt. Even after the match the shenanigans weren't over as Joey pinned Riley to become the new ATTACK! Pro Wrestling 24/7 champion. Well, it's safe to say that I didn't expect any titles to change hands so I'm astounded to see two title changes. I'm intrigued to see how this effects the next ATTACK! event in Cheltenham on May 13th! The interval was up next. Me being back to my meet and greet ways queued to meet Tommy Dreamer. He seemed absolutely knackered, but then I was later told that he was running on very little sleep so it's understandable that he seemed that way. Still, he was kind enough to sell merchandise and take pictures with lots of fans which was cool. Bird & Boar vs The Modern Culture - Knights of Chaos Titles and ICW Tag Team Titles Our second double title match of the evening saw the ICW Tag Team titles defended in a Pro Wrestling Chaos ring for the first time. Now, before I talk about this match, I want to mention that a few weeks ago, I had an idea that came to fruition here. What was that idea I hear you ask? Nerds! That's right, those little sweets that we all used to love as kids. My thought process being that if enough of us had a box or two each, we could rile the Modern Culture. eBay was very good to me for this one as I couldn't find a multi box of them anywhere else. It worked though! Hell, someone even threw a couple of boxes into the ring for Bird and Boar to feast upon! Now that my mark out moment for the evening was done, onto the wrestling. This was a decent enough match. There was't anything flashy about it and at the same time there wasn't anything bad about it either. It was a smart match. Both teams had dominant spells, both teams hit some of their big spots and both teams looks very good! The match ended in a double count out which was how I expected it to end with both sets of belts being on the line. All four men held a bit back it felt but that could be to save something for us down the line. Initially I was disappointed because we didn't get to see Mrs Patterson's Revenge, however when Bird told the Nerds that they weren't done, they went after the Knights of Chaos, only to be stopped by security. The security didn't hold them back for long though, as Bird and Boar took out a few members of the security team, dragged one of them back into the ring and hit Mrs Pattersons Revenge and celebrated with Nerds (the sweets variety) 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin style to a big ovation. Is this the only time we'll see the ICW Tag Titles defended in Chaos? I sincerely hope not! 'The Necromancer' Mikey Whiplash vs Big Grizzly Lets address the elephant in the room shall we? Yes, in the preview for this event I got Mikey Whiplash's nickname horribly wrong and called him 'The Neck Romancer'. Mikey did point this out for the world to see on Twitter and I did tell him I'd be making a sign saying "Mikey Loves Necks". I did make the sign which sadly, I don't think he saw and there were several reasons for this. The first reason was the fact that Grizzly took out Mikey during his entrance and continued to beat on him for several minutes. Mikey did start to make a comeback, which was around the time my friends Tom Smith and Rowan Ellis decided to start a "Neck Romancer" chant and looked right over to me when they did. Grizzly did get back on top though but wasn't able to pick up the win as Mikey rolled Grizz up for a three count. Afterwards, Grizzly wasn't done and unleashed a vicious assault on Mikey Whiplash. Grizzly has been wanting to make a statement for months now and I think it's fair to say that he finally did it at Sweet Dreams at the expense of a British wrestling icon. Something tells me that this one is not over by a long, long way! 'Flash' Morgan Webster vs Alex Steele - King of Chaos Championship Alex was wrestling in his hometown of Yate for Chaos' richest prize and had the crowd firmly in his corner. Well, all barring one individual who decided to heckle both men throughout the match but the less said about that the better. Rob Maltman gave us our in ring introductions, as all top tier title matches should be presented. This really adds to the big fight feel in my opinion. In the early stages, Alex was concerned about Modern Culture being at ringside and potentially having an influence on the match. He was right to be concerned as well as Danny Jones dragged Alex from the ring at one point. Ref Mark quickly made the right call though in banning the Knights of Chaos from ringside and informed Rob Maltman on commentary that if Jones and Ricci made their way back to ringside then Webster would forfeit the title. Harsh, but probably fair. Now, there were three finishes to this match so I'll go through them one by one for you: Firstly, after Ref Mark had been knocked down when Webster drove Alex into him, 'The Modfather' grabbed his helmet from ringside but was stopped by the hometown hero. Alex, held the helmet looking to use it on Webster who was down on the canvas but insisted he wouldn't. Webster then pulled one out of the Eddie Guerrero playbook by convincing Ref Paz that Alex had clocked him with the helmet. Paz called for the bell and Webster was declared the winner. Or was he? Dave Mercy made his way to the ring and says he saw exactly what was going on and restarted the match as no DQ. Alex quickly took advantage and scored with a superkick. 1...2...3! Alex Steele had pinned 'Flash' to become the new Pro Wrestling Chaos King of Chaos champion in his hometown! Or had he? Ref Mark pointed out to Rob Maltman that Webster's foot was underneath the bottom rope which meant the pinfall didn't stand and the match was restarted again! Once Webster had regained the composure which he lost after being knocked silly by that superkick, he locked in The Strangler which Steele was able to break free from. After a few more exchanges, Alex had seemingly re-injured the foot which he broke back in October at All or Nothing. Webster looked on concerned initially, and even started a round of applause for Alex. That didn't last long though as Morgan ran in with a knee strike and picked up a large piece of metal which he'd obtained from under the ring earlier in the match. Flash really went to town on Alex's foot with this piece of metal before locking in the Figure Four Leg Lock which Alex eventually had no alternative but to tap out to. After the match had ended, Danny Jones and Edwin Ricci returned to the ring to start a beat down on Alex. Dave Mercy signalled for help and it came in the form of Alex's tag team partner Eddie Dennis who cleaned house and seemingly signalled his intentions to challenge 'Flash' for the title down the line. So, that wraps up this review of Pro Wrestling Chaos' event Sweet Dreams. I'd struggle to decide which match I preferred between the opener of Eddie Dennis vs Charlie Sterling and the main event King of Chaos title match. All in all, it was a damn good wrestling show! One which you won't want to miss when it's available on demand. March 25th and my favourite night of the Pro Wrestling Chaos calendar: Total Chaos. A night where anything can happen. Nobody knows who's showing up, nobody knows what matches are going to happen, alliances can be formed and partners can face off against each other. Literally all of that and more happened on this show!
Firstly, I have to thank my good friend Mr Tim Ricketts for saving my backside once again. With me being me and rushing at the last minute to get ready for the show, I forgot to pick up my notepad and a pen before leaving and only realised once I'd arrived in Hanham for the show. Thankfully, Tim was once again a knight in shining armour for me by lending me a spare pen and paper. Thank you once again, Tim! You're an absolute gentleman! I got dropped off at the venue just as the doors were opening and bumped into two Chaos regulars in Craig Gilbert and Henry Arnold in the queue, two guys I absolutely love talking about wrestling with. We were at the back of the queue but Chaos in their usual efficiency ensured that everything moved along quickly and we weren't waiting outside for too long. Although, it was a nice sunny evening so I wouldn't have minded if we were outside for a few more minutes. After finding our seats, we bumped into a few friends inside and got chatting before the show started. I snagged myself the amazing new Eddie Dennis t-shirt which I'm wearing whilst writing this piece. £15 and an absolute bargain! Our Master of Ceremonies for the evening, Rob, welcomed us to the show and explained the concept of Total Chaos to the crowd before the competitors of the first match were selected by the Chaos Generator. Eddie Ryan vs 'Dirty' Dick Riley The first wrestler selected was Eddie Ryan who was sporting some shiny new boots (mentioned just for you, Craig). Ryan's opponent was everybody's favourite Dick...wait, what? Of course, what I meant by that was 'Dirty' Dick Riley was Eddie's opponent. Phew! I think I just about saved face there! This was a nice, solid opening bout between two well rounded wrestlers. Dick, sporting leopard print trunks and knee pads, played mind games early on with his more aggressive opponent. The mind games being gyrating at any given opportunity which made 'The English Lion' extremely frustrated. As usual, there were lots of "We love Dick" chants, but they all came to a brief halt when Eddie knocked Dick off the top rope and started a few minutes of domination and aggression. Eddie did chip in with a comment to the fans of "Look at your Dick now!" to which a few of us responded by looking at that particular area of our anatomy. 'Dirty' Dick managed to make his way back into the match, connecting with a Suplex, taking Eddie from the apron into the ring and also landing a picture perfect Spanish Fly. I've seen hundreds of them over the years and it is still one of my all time favourite moves. Soon after, Riley hit a perfect Moonsault, only for Eddie to kick out at two. A few minutes of outstanding wrestling from the former Magnum who has taken to singles competition like a duck to water. Unfortunately for Riley, he wasn't able to keep his hot streak alive after impressive wins in recent months. Eddie locked in his Cobra Clutch to force Dick into submission (I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere). The fortunate part of the outcome from this match was that I didn't have to listen to Phil Collins again. Sorry, I just can't stand that song. I do wonder if Eddie Ryan is still owed a King of Chaos title match. He won a number one contenders match against Eddie Dennis last Summer but hasn't had a one-on-one match for the belt. He was part of the seven man match from Thornbury in February, but never received a one-on-one match. I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. Eddie Dennis & El Ligero vs Martin Kirby & Alex Steele This was a nice solid tag team match with a mixture of the usual comedy you'd see from these four as well as some good wrestling and storytelling. I've said it before that some people don't agree with comedy in wrestling, but you need to have it in my opinion. It adds variety to a performance as well as showing that the person putting the comedy across has an understanding of how to draw a reaction from a crowd. One fine example of the comedy in this match was where Alex was laying prone in the corner and Eddie wanted to do The Hardy Boyz old move, Poetry in Motion. Ligero must've thought that Eddie was an Olympic champion in the long jump as he got down onto his hands and knees in the middle of the ring. Eddie told him to move over to give him a better chance of landing the move. Finally, once Ligero was in position, Eddie ran up but was caught with a Hurricanrana from his usual tag team partner. The ending came about when Alex had seemingly re-injured the foot that he'd broken a few months back. Eddie, clearly worried about his friend, went to check on Alex to see what was going on. Alex was just playing possum though and attempted an inside cradle only for Eddie to kick out at two. Eddie, visibly unhappy that his friend tried getting a win the cheap way, soon put Alex away with a Next Stop Driver to pick up the win for himself and El Ligero. The questions this match left on my mind is "Where does this now leave contendership for the tag team division in Pro Wrestling Chaos?" Could we see more teaming between "Project Steele" and "The Lucha Dragons"? (Just don't tell Vince McMahon that's the name of this team). Or does everything go back to normal the next time we see these four men in Chaos? Also, has the relationship between Alex and Eddie been fractured because of Alex's actions? I guess we'll have to see what happens at 'Sweet Dreams' in Yate next month! Wild Boar vs Edwin Ricci (f.k.a. Richie Edwards) As I said earlier, the wonderful thing about Total Chaos is that anyone can face anyone. And when The Chaos Generator gives us a match like this where there's already beef between two guys, it makes the night that little bit sweeter. There's a high level of hatred between Boar and The Modern Culture stretching back to January when we had the controversial cash in of the Heir To The Throne briefcase by Morgan Webster. This match was short but sweet and gave Boar a chance to exact a little bit of revenge and to get a bit of frustration out of his system. However, Edwin Ricci had a rather impressive showing. I'd like to think that he proved to a lot of people in attendance that he can hang with the best that Chaos has to offer. Of course, Boar is one of the best on the Chaos roster so if Ricci proved he can hang with him, I'd reckon he could put on a good showing with anybody! As you may expect though, Boar picked up the win. He scored with a brutal powerbomb and followed it up with the Trapper Keeper for the 1-2-3. It's fair to say that Boar certainly put some stank on that particular package piledriver. But then, after all he's been through with the Modern Culture the last few months, who could blame him? Big Grizzly vs ??? Time for a nice surprise. Big Grizzly came out first looking like a boss! It's fair to say with Grizz that he's certainly improved a hell of a lot over the past year or so. He looks like he's trimmed a few pounds as well. Maybe that's no coincidence that he's improved. Either way, it's always nice to see when a wrestler is taking steps to improving their work. Grizzly said he's going to make a name for himself. The Chaos Generator decided Grizzly's opponent and it was none other than WWE Superstar Pete Dunne! (By the way, anyone who ever wants to contest that the guys who competed in the WWE UK tournament aren't WWE Superstars, go right ahead. I'm not sure what else you'd call a wrestler with a WWE contract though). Pete was making his first appearance in Chaos since July and he received a thunderous ovation from the crowd. It's a strange, yet awesome thing with Pete. Last year he was appearing as a heel in a lot of places and he's returning now as a huge babyface. I mean strange in a good way because he's such a natural heel. I understand fully the reasons why he's getting the babyface reactions from the audiences and I think it's awesome. Although, it's equally as awesome when he doesn't change in certain companies such as Rev Pro and Progress. Pete wasted little time in going to work on Grizzly, even hitting a Pedigree early on in the match. That's seemingly become Pete's thing as of late. Maybe it's a sign that he'll be called up to the main roster to be a part of Triple H's stable? That's a story for another time, though. This was a damn good match and I'd have to say my favourite two spots would have to be: - Pete using the turnbuckle as a weapon when he put Grzzly's finger in between the bolts on the buckle and bent it backwards. How his finger didn't snap I'll never know. - Dunne using a kids toy WWE Championship belt as a weapon and posing with it with the strap locked between his teeth. By the way, the WWE Championship is a good look on Dunne! Just saying... Not to discredit him in anyway, Grizzly had his moments in the match too. The best of which was when he countered Dunne's triangle choke into a powerbomb which 'The Bruiserweight' was only just able to kick out of. Also, seeing Grizzly using an enziguri was something I thought I'd never see. Glad to see the big man is expanding on his arsenal of moves! As you may expect, Pete picked up the win here with The Bitter End. That was pretty cool to see him hitting that on a much bigger opponent. I just feel sorry for anyone not in attendance who won't get to see this match because unfortunately it was for the eyes of the live audience only. As frustrating as that may seem to some, it's a totally understandable situation where unless WWE are getting paid to allow their contracted wrestlers to appear on VOD or DVD, then these types of matches are for the live experience. An added motive for people to get to shows in my opinion. Up next was the interval which went on a tad longer than usual after the house lights decided to turn heel on us and stopped working. Thankfully, somebody put 50p in the meter and we were underway again. No meet and greets for me on this occasion, but there were opportunities to get a picture with The Bruiserweight during the interval. Gideon vs Jeckel The two former members of Team H8 were the next to be selected by The Chaos Generator to face off against one another. Before the match could get underway, that pack of rabid wolves known as The Brotherhood made their way to ringside. However, before they could strike, Dave Mercy and a large amount of security ran them off from whence they came and the match was able to finally get underway. There were lots of Seahorse chants aimed at Jeckel in this match. At one point, Jeckel did break the PG rule by flipping the bird and essentially telling a few of us to "go forth and multiply"...just not as politely as I've explained it to you. Tut tut Jeckel! There were lots of children present in Hanham! Jeckel picked up the win in this one but it was the aftermath that was the talking point. The Brotherhood came back to the ring and destroyed both men. Joe Mezinger called out Dave Mercy telling him to get his backside out and called him a not very nice name. I shan't repeat it because this is a family blog. Dave came out and told Joe to mind his language. Having seemingly been pushed, Dave gave The Brotherhood what they wanted: Contracts with Pro Wrestling Chaos and told them that they'd be competing at the next event in Yate on April 29th. Who will The Brotherhood be facing? Keep an eye on social media to stay updated on this situation! Mike Bird vs Jimmy Havoc Now this was a match that just spiralled out of control rather quickly...but boy was it fun! The amount of times us front row folk had to vacate our seats was unreal. Firstly there was the suicide dive by the 'Ginger Jesus' where he and Jimmy ended up in at least the third row. Bad journalism, but I can't remember what the second reason was. In my defence, there wasn't much time to write notes in between getting up and sitting back down before having to get up again. The third time, Bird hit a Tope Con Hilo through the ropes. He looked like he landed on his head but seemed to be OK. Both of these warriors battled both on the floor and the stage at Hanham Community Centre. There was a spot where Jimmy smashed a door into the head of Mike Bird. I didn't see it because I was taking notes, but I heard it and if that's anything to go by, I'm sure Bird is still feeling it! I think my favourite part of this match was when Bird came down off the top rope and Jimmy caught him with an RKO type of cutter and followed it up with an Acid Rainmaker which Mike kicked out of at two. Shortly after that, Jimmy levelled Mike with a destroyer which had no effect. Mike then returned the favour to Havoc, but again it had no effect. Bird wrapped up the victory shortly afterwards with a crucifix powerbomb, followed up with a Gotch style piledriver to pick up the win. There was a show of respect between the two after the match which was great to see. The war that these men went through perfectly exemplified what Pro Wrestling Chaos is all about. Hats off to both of them! King of Chaos Championship - 'Flash' Morgan Webster vs ??? The main event had arrived and out first was our champion 'The Modfather' Morgan Webster accompanied by his Modern Culture brother Danny Jones. But who would his opponent be? The Chaos Generator spun the wheel and selected none other than Jones himself to face the number one guy in Chaos. 'Flash' devised the plan of Jones laying down for him so he could retain the title. Jones seemed more than happy to do it...until he powered out of the pin attempt at one which got a great reaction from the audience. Especially when it looked like Webster was going to poop in his pants! Jones did say he was only messing about and happily lay down for Webster to get the pin and retain his title. A successful first defence for the 'King of the Mods'. However, this wasn't the end of the night for Webster. As he and Jones celebrated like Wales had just won the World Cup, the music of Wild Boar hit as he came to the stage with a steel chair in hand. Boar challenged Webster to his rightful rematch for the King of Chaos title which Webster accepted under one condition: The loser of the match would no get a title opportunity for the rest of the year. Boar pondered on Webster's offer for a brief moment before telling 'The Modfather' it was a deal! Webster had one added stpiulation - No disqualifications. King of Chaos Championship - 'Flash' Morgan Webster vs Wild Boar Webster sent Danny Jones to go after Boar on the stage and when he got there, he was met by the chair which Boar had in hand and I honestly couldn't tell you both how many times Boar used it and how hard he hit Danny with it. Now that one half of the Knights of Chaos was out of the way, Boar looked to feast upon Webster as he stalked his prey. He even used one of the most unusual weapons I've ever seen in a wrestling match - A Coca-Cola can (other brands of cola flavoured soft drinks available!) Webster was soon able to gain the upper hand as both men fought on the stage with Webster throwing Boar down the steps. Webster even quite possibly the most incredible Hurricanrana I think I've ever seen. With Boar at ringside and 'Flash' on the stage, 'The Modfather' jumped over the steps separating the stage from the ring area and landed the perfect Hurricanrana on the floor. Even the biggest of Webster haters had to appreciate that! With Webster firmly in control of his adversary, he set a chair up between the top and middle turnbuckles. Now, as we all know, whenever someone sets any weapon up for a big spot, it usually backfires. This occasion was no different as Boar sent his fellow Dragon Pro Academy alumni head first through the chair. That wasn't the last we saw of the chair either as moments later, Boar clocked 'Flash' with a wicked shot. The other members of The Modern Culture soon made their presence felt as Edwin Ricci made his way to the ring, but he was soon dispatched of with more sick chair shots meaning 'The Modfather' was alone and was powerless to stop the piledriver that Boar hit onto the chair left in the ring. Just as Danny Jones reappeared, Morgan kicked out just in the nick of time to save his championship. Jones was soon sent packing once again as Boar took him out with a vicious powerbomb meaning we once again had an even one-on-one contest. Wild Boar thought he'd had the contest won moments later when he scored with a powerbomb and his Trapper Keeper piledriver but once again the tenacious champion found away to stay alive in the match. As the challenger looked to secure his third King of Chaos title, he ascended to the top rope but as he came down looking to hit his version of the Frog Splash, Webster showed more of that tenacity and rolled out of the way meaning Boar crashed hard on the canvas. Webster caught Boar with a running knee and locked in The Strangler which the former champion had no escape from and tapped out to ensure that Webster left Total Chaos 2017 still the King of Chaos! Post match, Webster got on the mic and delivered a heartfelt speech about how Chaos kept him around through his injury and he was grateful for that because it kept him relevant throughout a turbulent time in his career. Being around gave him something to work towards when he came back and made sure the fans didn't forget about him. You could tell there was legit emotion in Webster's voice and face when delivering this speech. That was up until he told us that he didn't need any of us and told us that we can all kiss his bottom! Again, that's the polite way of putting it. So another Chaos show in the bag and I'd argue strongly that this was their best show since All or Nothing last October. The unpredictability of The Chaos Generator as well as the surprise appearance of WWE Superstar Pete Dunne were worth the price of admission alone. Add to that the wars of Mike Bird vs Jimmy Havoc and Wild Boar vs Morgan Webster and I felt as though we robbed Chaos a little bit here. The next event comes from my hometown of Yate on April 29th at Yate Leisure Centre. Something big always goes down in Yate so believe me when I say that you'll want to get yourself a ticket for this event because it's going to be off the hook! No matches have been announced thus far however two big international stars have been announced in 'The King of Dong Style' Joey Ryan, who I'd love to see either team with or face Dick Riley, and former two time ECW World Heavyweight Champion Tommy Dreamer. There will also be An Audience with Tommy Dreamer which I will most definitely be attending! Tickets for all Pro Wrestling Chaos events can be purchased through their website - www.prowrestlingchaos.com Remember to follow Chaos on all forms of social media as well: Twitter - @Chaos_Wrestling Instagram - @prowrestlingchaos Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/ProWrestlingChaos On Demand - www.ukwrestlingondemand.com - Just £3.99 per month. Includes all events from Pro Wrestling Chaos as well as events from Triple X Wrestling, Shropshire Wrestling Alliance and Ultimate Pro Wrestling. Pro Wrestling Chaos' second event of the year came to us from Thornbury Leisure Centre. This was the second Chaos event from this particular venue after the epic 'Wrath of Khan' event from last Summer. (That is still my favourite name for any show Chaos have put on!) If 'Chaos B Ballin' wasn't a sold out event, it can't have been far off. I can't say I saw an empty seat in a venue which holds somewhere in the region of 500 people.
Chaos pulled in two American stars for this event in former WWE superstars M.V.P. and Melina. There was a pre-show "Audience With M.V.P." as well as meet and greets with both superstars. I wasn't in attendance for either of these but having spoken to people who were there, they were pretty good from what I can gather. As always, I arrived at the venue about 15 minutes before the doors opened. Unlike last time in Westbury-On-Trym where there weren't many people queuing when I arrived, people were coming out of the doors in Thornbury which is always a great sight when you arrive to a venue. I should explain that at Thornbury Leisure Centre, they allow people to queue in the reception area whereas in Westbury-On-Trym, there's no way of being able to do that. There wasn't much of a wait past 6pm before I was in the venue and found my seat. Front row as I will be for every Chaos event this year. A few members of the Chaos Club were already inside so I had chance to catch up with a few friends who I only see once a month or so. It's always nice to see those guys and girls! There was a cake and raffle ticket sale on. Some of you may remember the story we posted on the Facebook page about Isaac Wide. Isaac is wheelchair bound and currently doesn't have a ramp to be able to safely access his mothers house. That's all about to change however. Thanks to the donations of everyone via the Just Giving page and the funds raised at 'Chaos B Ballin', enough money has been raised to be able to get Isaac the ramp he needs. I'm not the most sentimental of people but it really brings a smile to my face knowing that there are so many people who were willing to help Isaac. I don't know him personally but I see him at every event and he's always got a smile on his face. Hopefully that smile is that little bit bigger now that he has his access ramp! Fair play to you, Isaac! I'm happy for you! And well done to everyone who helped or contributed to raising these funds! After scoffing down a couple of cakes (not good for the diet but good for the cause) and getting myself a drink (bottled water before anyone points out that I'm off the booze), it was showtime! Dave Mercy opened the show. After a few thank you's to the sponsors and the fans, it was down to business. Dave called out 'Flash' Morgan Webster who was stripped of the title after 'Mysterious City of Chaos' to return the belt. We didn't get 'Flash', but we did get his Modern Culture stablemates Danny Jones and Richie Edwards. They brought the belt to the ring with them and Mercy demanded they return it. After toying with the owner of Chaos for a few minutes, Dave snapped and threatened to fire both men if they didn't return the belt. Needless to say, the games quickly ended and the belt was returned to Mercy. Wild Boar then made his way to the ring and after The Modern Culture quickly scarpered to the back, Boar took what he believed was rightfully his from Dave Mercy: The King of Chaos title belt. 'Dirty' Dick Riley vs Charlie Sterling Charlie Sterling (F.K.A. Charlie Garrett) came in as a late replacement for the injured Andrew Everett. I was gutted not to be seeing Andrew, but I do love to see Bristol's own Charlie Sterling whenever he's about. Charlie was returning to Chaos for the first time in three years and Riley was hot off the heels of his big win against his former best friend 'Filthy' Chris Walker in January. I have to say that this was my favourite match of the night. I do like some "flippy graps" and this didn't disappoint for those who like that sort of thing. However, the big talking point wasn't the flashy moves that both of these two are more than capable of, but more so the antics of Mr. Sterling. After not being able to gain the upper hand on his opponent, Charlie decided to spit in the face of 'Dirty' Dick Riley to turn his hometown crowd against him. I thought it was a somewhat curious choice to turn a high-flying Bristolian against a Bristol crowd, but it worked! Charlie worked incredibly well as a heel for the rest of the match. The result came as a surprise to me. And I mean that in a good way! 'Dirty' Dick Riley picked up the "W" with a powerbomb pinning combination. The win shows that a lot of his past is staying in the past (namely 'Filthy' Chris Walker) and that he's moving forward with confidence and belief that he can achieve something big in Chaos this year. Riley showed respect to Charlie post match and just when we though Sterling was going to shake his hand, the Bristol native flipped him the bird and walked off to a chorus of boo's! Not cool, Charlie. And not family friendly either. Adam 'Flex' Maxted vs Jeckel This was a match I was quite excited to see. I've not heard much of Maxted, nor have I seen any of his work. In fact, the only thing I knew about him was that he starred in ITV's reality TV show 'Love Island' . I'm always intrigued to see how wrestlers who are new to me fare when I see them for the first time, though. It's fair to say that 'Flex' doesn't miss any time in the gym. That guy has muscles on top of his muscles! As for in the ring though, he was OK. Nothing flash but wasn't bad, really. Or at least not as bad as some people made him out to be anyway. 'Flex' picked up the win in this one, but it was the post match shenanigans of The Brotherhood that was the main talking point here. They hit the ring post match to put the boots to Jeckel however his former tag team partner, Gideon, hit the ring to make the save. Gideon extended a fist in an apparent attempt to reform the former Team H8, however Jeckel wasn't having any of it and blew Gideon off and left him hanging. More to come on this one later on... The Steele Dragons vs Project Lucha vs The Modern Culture - Knight of Chaos Title Match The first title match of the night saw Eddie Dennis and Alex Steele making their second defence of the Knights of Chaos titles. After the antics of The Modern Culture at 'Mysterious City of Chaos', Eddie Dennis and Alex Steele laid down the challenge for a triple threat match. Project Lucha and The Modern Culture accepted the challenge and that brought us to this February evening in Thornbury. This was a good match I thought which picked up more pace towards the end, as a lot of tag matches seem to do. There were a couple of moments that made me wince though involving Alex Steele. He scored with a topé through the ropes. I'm not sure if his head hit the guardrail, the floor, or both but either way for a moment or two he looked as though he didn't know which day of the week it was. Hopefully it was nothing too serious though. Although, if there was an issue, I'm sure the kicks to the head he took from Ligero didn't help too much! Towards the end of the match, The Modern Culture decided it was time to try to gain an unfair advantage and brought in the tag title belts. While the referee took one of them away, Martin Kirby got clocked with the other and moments later The Modern Culture were named the Knights of Chaos after picking up the biggest win of their young careers. Up next was the interval where people had the opportunity to purchase more cakes and raffle tickets or to just hang out and chat or check out some merchandise. It's always a nice chance to have a chat with other members of the Chaos Club and see what their opinions were on the first half of the show. I also picked myself up an El Ligero t-shirt and got to meet the man himself. It's funny, I've seen Ligero dozens of times over the years but hadn't met him until last month. Nice guy and a top, top wrestler in my opinion. We also had the raffle during the interval. Ten prizes up for grabs some of which included: - A framed COURAGE t-shirt signed by Diamond Dallas Page - Jeckel's seahorse costume - A Mexican flag signed by El Ligero - Gideon's Singapore Cane that he broke over Ian Williams' head - The chair which was destroyed in the Jimmy Havoc vs Wild Boar main event in January - The red nWk designed by Tom Smith which he threw into the ring at All or Nothing last year (Glad you got it back, Tom!) Gideon vs M.V.P. This was easily the most brutal match of the night with both men beating ten bells of "you know what" out of each other all over Thornbury Leisure Centre. Two blogs in and still no swears. I'm impressing myself here! However, as good and as physical as this match was, it was all about three men who don't even work for Chaos, let alone the fact that they weren't in the match. The Brotherhood came down to the ring to try to get their hands on 'The Red Emperor', however both he and M.V. P. managed to keep them at bay for a while. Eventually, M.V. P. picked up the win and The Brotherhood moved in to attack both men. The numbers were seemingly too much until Jeckel came out to make the save and really took it to The Brotherhood. Jeckel, M.V.P., and Gideon managed to despatch of the three men looking to make a name for themselves. Once everything had settled down, there was a handshake and show of respect between Gideon and M.V.P. Would we get a fist bump this time between Gideon and Jeckel? The crowd chanted, cheered and pleaded with Jeckel to join forces with his former Team H8 partner but once again Jeckel turned him down. I absolutely love what Chaos are doing here. They're building up a brand new team in The Brotherhood without them actually needing to wrestle by having them go after two veterans of the Chaos roster as well as teasing us with a potential Team H8 reunion. Very smart booking and I can't think of a single reason why this isn't the best thing going in Chaos right now. Young, hungry guys going after two of Chaos' top guys. What's not to like? Melina & Sierra Loxton vs Jetta & Jinny Continuing their rivalry dating back to November, Jetta and Sierra Loxton met again in a tag match featuring former WWE Superstar Melina. This was a great move by Chaos getting Melina in. She didn't do much in the match, but did enough in and out of the ring to earn her pay. Remember: How an import carries his or herself outside of the ring is just as, if not more important than what they do in the ring. From what I can understand, there were nothing but positive reviews from the people who had the opportunity to meet her and the way she spoke about Sierra Loxton over social media was amazing. Putting someone over doesn't necessarily have to be in the ring, remember! My one gripe with this match actually had nothing to do with the wrestling. It was more the chap who decided to walk in front of everyone in the row of seats where I was sat to take pictures of the former WWE Diva's Champion. Now, I don't have a problem with people taking pictures at events whatsoever. We all do it. What I have a problem with is that this chap called out to Melina to pose for him while she was wrestling. That's just not on. It's disrespectful to Melina, the women she was working with, Chaos as a company, and disrespectful to all the fans who he got in the way of during the match. Fingers crossed this was a one off situation and it never happens again. The match itself was fine with Sierra taking a beat down for a large portion of the match from Jinny and Jetta. Sierra eventually came back and made the tag to Melina who may not be as good as she was back in her WWE days, but she's still got it without question. The feelgood moment was the fact that Sierra finally managed to pin Jetta to pick up her first victory in a Chaos ring. Is this the end of the rivalry between Sierra and Jetta? Or does Jetta feel as though she has something to prove after losing to 'The Freaky Princess'? Only time will tell there. I wouldn't mind seeing them go at it one more time, that's for sure! Wild Boar vs Mike Bird vs Big Grizzly vs Jimmy Havoc vs Dave Mastiff vs Eddie Ryan vs 'Flash' Morgan Webster - Seven Man No DQ Elimination match for the vacant King of Chaos Championship The main event was upon us, in what was in someways one of the most unpredictable matches in Chaos history. Seven men all very deserving of the position in the match for very different reasons. Seven men willing to put everything on the line for glory. Seven men, hungry to be crowned King! I suppose it should come as no surprise to anyone who follows Chaos closely enough that pretty much everyone was gunning for Websters blood in this match. While some of the other six competitors don't necessarily see eye-to-eye with the fans, they all love this company and understand what it means to be the King of Chaos. Especially in the cases of Mike Bird and Wild Boar who are both former King's of Chaos. The biggest shock, perhaps in Chaos history occurred in this match when Wild Boar was the first man eliminated by Big Grizzly! I've never known such a stunned silence at any wrestling show I've ever been to. I just remember looking around at the crowd and there wasn't one jaw off the floor. I think most people expected Boar to be there at the end but this was really well done in my opinion to keep the fans on their toes. Next to go was Dave Mastiff who was pinned by Eddie Ryan and quickly following that was Big Grizzly who succumbed to Websters Strangler submission (I may have those two eliminations round the wrong way, but both men were eliminated in very quick succession). This left us with four men: Webster, Ryan, Havoc and Bird. Eddie Ryan was the next to go when he was pinned by Jimmy Havoc after Jimmy hit 'The English Lion' with a devastating DDT onto a steel chair. It's no wonder Eddie is crazy with all the shots to the head he takes with weapons! The next elimination was Jimmy Havoc who was pinned by Mike Bird shortly after Eddie Ryan's elimination. As you can imagine, Jimmy wasn't too happy and vented his frustrations to ref Mark. What we had next was 10 minutes or so of great athletic, dramatic wrestling between two of the finest this country has ever produced in Mike Bird and Morgan Webster. I've seen Webster and Bird go at it before on VOD for other promotions but never had I seen it live until now and it was amazing. Just when it looked as though 'Ginger Jesus' had put his former student away, out came The Modern Culture to take out ref Mark so he couldn't administer the count. Paz, who was on the outside, didn't see or hear Webster tapping out in the ring when Bird locked a submission move in. Bird released the hold and Webster managed to roll under the ropes to avoid more damage. The Modern Culture had made their mark on the match and it was only ever going to benefit one man and that was their leader! After a vicious shot to the head with the helmet, Bird kicked out of a pinning attempt at one, much to the delight of the Thornbury crowd. Webster however is not one to accept failure and used the helmet several more times before locking in The Strangler. Bird was out cold though as Paz called for the bell giving us a new King of Chaos champion. Personally, I was over the moon with the result, and not because I'm such a huge fan of Webster. Let's put kayfabe to one side for just a moment. Here is a guy who 10 months ago busted an ankle and a shoulder wrestling Zack Sabre Jr. in a qualifying match for the WWE Cruiserweight Classic tournament. After 10 month of rehabilitation, hard work, determination and an evident burning desire to come back and be better than ever, he'd won arguably the biggest match in Pro Wrestling Chaos history! Myself and a few of the other Chaos regulars do have a bit of banter about my love for 'The Modfather'. I can always be seen cheering him on at shows whether he's a fan favourite or a rule breaker. Until I'm given a very good reason to not cheer for him, it's going to continue. Sorry lads! Let's bring back our old friend kayfabe now that that's out of the way. The fans were clearly livid with Morgan's chosen path to win this match. There was nothing illegal about any of it though as the match was No DQ, but it wasn't the honourable thing to do. Not that this bothers Webster one little bit. As far as 'Flash' is concerned, it's a results based business and you win by any means necessary. And if the fans don't like that...well, that's their problem! That just about wraps up this review. Another solid show from Chaos in front of a lively audience in Thornbury. The Modern Culture left this show a few pounds heavier as we move onto the most unpredictable event of the Chaos calendar: Total Chaos 2017 which comes to us from the Hanham Community Centre on March 25th. No matches will be announced for this event (think PWG's Mystery Vortex) and wrestlers will be drawn at random throughout the night. As has been proven at the past two Total Chaos events, literally anything can happen on this night, and usually does! Over half of the tickets have been sold already for this event so make sure you head over to www.prowrestlingchaos.com to order yours. You won't want to miss out on this! A quick thank you just to end off this blog to Tim Ricketts. In my hour of need when my pen decided to be a bit rubbish and not work during the opening match of the show, Tim kindly offered to share his notes with me, which is the reason why this blog able to happen so soon. Thank you so much again, Tim! I owe you a drink or two at the next event! Remember everyone to follow Pro Wrestling Chaos on all forms of social media and subscribe to their On Demand service for as little as £3.99 per month! https://www.facebook.com/ProWrestlingChaos https://www.instagram.com/prowrestlingchaos/ https://twitter.com/chaos_wrestling ukwrestlingondemand.com (also includes Triple X Wrestling, Shropshire Wrestling Alliance and Ultiamte Pro Wrestling all for £3.99 a month!) Pro Wrestling Chaos kicked off the new year in a great way with their first appearance at Newman Hall, Westbury-on-Trym. Doors opened at 1800hrs GMT at the new venue, so naturally, I got to the building for about 1745hrs. The building was tucked away behind a church and wasn't easy to find initially. A big thanks to Craig Gilbert for posting on Facebook about the whereabouts of Newman Hall. I think I'd still be trying to find it now otherwise!
As mentioned, I arrived a few minutes early so waited in the queue when a few familiar faces showed up, so we all had a good old chit chat while waiting. I posted on Facebook earlier in the day about it being my first time taking notes at a show and my good friend Jamie Taylor asked if I had my stopwatch ready. Well, the stopwatch got left at home sadly so manual counting would've been needed for match times. By the way, if you happen to read "Mississippi" a few times during this report, that's because I'm a man and can't multitask... We got into the venue just after 1800hrs, showed our tickets/season ticket cards to the ladies on the door and went into the hall. For a smaller venue, it was a decent size. High ceiling, stage and probably 200-250 seats awaiting a sold out crowd. I bumped into a few friends inside, and we had about an hour to kill before showtime, so had a good catch up. I also had chance to speak with Drew Parker who was in attendance. Keep an eye out for him. The guy has bags of talent, potential and charisma. Always enjoy speaking with him. I got myself a drink (£1.90 for a can of Diet Coke! Safe to say I didn't drink too many of those!) before finding my seat which was, of course, front row. The show kicked off at 1900hrs with Chaos owner Dave Mercy thanking the sold out crowd for...well...selling out the show of course. Dave announced that we have a new M.C. named Rob (who's last name I didn't quite catch so I do apologise) and live commentary for the first time ever which will now happen at all future Chaos events. This is one thing that I'm really happy about because previously they'd have the commentary as a voice over. I'm never one to talk badly of a promotion I love so dearly but I really struggled with the voice over commentary. Great move to have it live from now on! Dave also stated that the intention is to get shows available on the On Demand service a lot quicker (just £3.99 a month people. Which is almost free and we all like free stuff, don't we?) Big Grizzly vs 'Flying' Mike Bird (Ref: Paz) The opening contest was between Big Grizzly and two time former King of Chaos champion "The Ginger Jesus of Professional Wrestling" Mike Bird. As mentioned in the preview, these two have had a rivalry of sorts over the past four or five months with Bird coming out on top more often than not. I wasn't sure what to expect here. That's not in a negative way it's just that these two have been hitting ten bells of "you know what" out of each other for months so it was more of a case of "How much more "you know what" can they knock out of each other?" By the way, I should explain that I'm going to try to refrain from swearing...which for those who know me will find that highly surprising! In the early stages, Bird being the more technical of the two, tried a little bit of chain wrestling but it proved difficult to get the much bigger man off of his feet. Grizzly soon took control using his power and strength using all kinds of holds, strikes and throws to wear down his more experienced adversary. While in command, Grizzly thought it'd be a good idea to take off a turnbuckle pad to gain the unfair advantage. Paz warned Grizzly not to use the turnbuckle several times. Rather him than me, he's a big, scary dude! Paz' warnings didn't work though. Grizzly used the turnbuckle before hitting Bird with a huge chokeslam to pick up the win to gain a measure of revenge on "The Ginger Jesus". Jetta & Jeckel vs Sierra Loxton & Gideon (Ref: Mark) For me, this was certainly one of the more interesting match ups of the night because the one question on my mind, and quite possibly most of the fans in attendance, was "Is this a mixed tag (women vs women/men vs men only) or an intergender tag (anyone vs anyone). One thing I'd like to note is how intriguing Sierra is as a performer. She's got her character of 'The Freaky Princess' nailed down and is improving constantly in the ring. There's nothing but huge things in her future, especially given the fact that she's only 18 years old and has plenty of time to keep improving. Certainly one to keep an eye out for. The entrances for Loxton and Gideon had me intrigued. Not because they were flashy by any means. But the fact that Sierra used the half war paint look with a Singapore cane to go along with Gideon's usual war paint and Singapore cane really made them look like a team. Certainly a team I'd love to see again down the line! The question of "mixed" tag or "intergender" tag was quickly answered when Sierra and Jeckel faced off with one another. I enjoyed the fact that Jeckel didn't hold back and went at Loxton like he would've done if it was Gideon in the ring. It really added to the legitimacy of the match, which is one of the things that wrestling is all about. The ending came about when it looked as though Gideon was going to knock out Jetta. A distraction by Jeckel prevented it and Jetta hit a low blow right in front of ref Mark. However, there was no disqualification! Why you ask? I can't tell you unfortunately. This allowed Jeckel to hit his finisher to pick up the win for his team. I must admit, when watching live, I was adamant that Sierra was the legal wrestler. I could be mistaken and I'll have to check once the VOD is available. After the match, we saw The Brotherhood, Nathan Bane, Elijah Dahl and Joe Mezinger, appearing out of seemingly nowhere. These three men made their debut's at 'Let Them Eat Chaos' and they told us they'd make their mark. They surrounded the ring leaving Gideon and Sierra vulnerable in a three against two scenario. Gideon did his best to try and fight them off but the numbers were seemingly too much until help came from an unlikely source: Jeckel! He returned to the ring and The Brotherhood quickly scarpered. Why would Jeckel help out Gideon? Could all of this mean that we'll see a Team H8 reunion? I'm sure we'll find out at the next event, 'Chaos B Ballin' in February. 'Filthy' Chris Walker vs 'Dirty' Dick Riley (Ref: Paz) A match built off of a heinous attack at 'Let Them Eat Chaos' which was well built up by M.C. Rob for the live crowd in Westbury-on-Trym. Walker came out to The Magnums old entrance music 'Hot Stuff' but had a completely new look. A black sleeveless leather jacket and black, ripped trousers which seems to suit the new Chris Walker really well. Dick, on the other hand (I'm sure there's a joke in there somewhere), had the old Magnums look but came out to 'Easy Lover' by Phil Collins. Of all the songs! Of all the fuc...I mean...um...flipping songs. It works, don't get me wrong. I've just never been a fan of Phil Collins and especially that song. Fingers crossed a camera didn't catch me singing along! Riley, perhaps overcome with the emotion of the event, went after Walker straight away. Walker, of course, wanted nothing to do with any of it and tried to get away from Dick to put some distance between the two but Riley wouldn't allow it. On two or three occasions when Walker tried to get away, Riley stopped him and went on the attack. Something I admire in wrestling in tenacity and 'Dirty' Dick Riley has plenty of it. Riley came out on top here. He used a vicious superkick to put away 'Filthy' Chris, but I really don't think we've seen the end of this. There seems to be more about this. Walker will have to justify his actions from 'Let Them Eat Chaos' and defeating Riley is the best way to do that. Should another match happen between these two former best friends, you won't see any complaints from your reporter! The intermission came after this match which gave us all a chance to grab a drink, check out the merch or simply just sit around and talk about how awesome the first half of the show was! Not only that, a few people had gone to shows the previous night and also were off to shows the following day so that was a topic of discussion. All of that along with avoiding all forms of social media so that the WWE UK Championship Tournament was kept under wraps until we all got chance to watch it when we'd arrived home. Steele Dragons vs Project Lucha - Knights of Chaos Championship (Ref: Mark) Watching this, I honestly couldn't find the right adjective to use for this match. Funny? Humorous? Hard hitting? Literally all of those but perhaps entertaining would be better. Yes, entertaining! Adjective found! It almost felt like we were watching the banter edition of Project Lucha (similar to the banter edition of The Origin in PROGRESS) with all of the humour flying around. After a load of shaking, handshaking, and group hug shenanigans at the start of the match, as well as everyone was trying to communicate with El Ligero, who only speaks fluent Spanish, the match got underway. Well, not quite. The Modern Culture (Danny Jones and Richie Edwards) came out accompanied by their leader: Mr. Heir to the Throne himself, 'Flash' Morgan Webster. Webster joined the commentary team while Richie and Danny stayed around the announce table. The Modern Culture had a big say in the outcome of this match. They came down to ringside and took Ligero's cape as well as Eddie's mask (if you've never seen Eddie Mysterio, you're missing out). They mocked both men from the stage which caused Ligero and Dennis to chase them both to the back. Kirby looked to take advantage and set Alex up for the Sable Bomb, but the Bristol native was able to counter it into a sunset flip pinning combination for the win. Afterwards, The Modern Culture came back out looking to put the boots to Kirby and Steele but they were chased away by Dennis and Ligero. There was a great show of respect between both teams after the match and the fans who chanted for all four men. Looking forward, it looks as though we'll be seeing The Steele Dragons defending against The Modern Culture. They seem to want to challenge for the belts and with Alex and Eddie being fighting champions, I'm sure a match between both teams isn't far off. The only question that's on my mind though is "Could it have been The Modern Culture who attacked Alex at 'Let Them Eat Chaos?" If it was, I'm sure we'll find out soon enough! Eddie Ryan vs Rampage Brown (Ref: Paz) Eddie Ryan had been saying all over social media that he wanted more competition in the land of Chaos and he certainly got it in this match. This was probably the most physical match on the night, which came as no surprise to me whatsoever. Both men are hard hitting, powerful and love a good slobber knocker. Rampage has some of the hardest chops I've ever witnessed and wouldn't mind seeing a chopping contest between him and Mike Bird. Perhaps they could use Eddie Ryan's chest as the target? It certainly got a lot of abuse here so he should be used to it! Eddie picked up the win in this one. He countered a piledriver into a pinning combination but used the ropes to gain the unfair advantage. Rampage was clearly upset that Paz hadn't seen this but he had no time to argue as he was attacked by Eddie after the bell in a completely unprovoked attack. Rampage had the last laugh though as he ended up hitting Ryan with a Piledriver which, when Eddie came back around, seemed to daze and confuse the number one contender. The question on my mind is "When will Eddie get his title opportunity?" He's been the number one contender since August and hasn't yet had his title shot. Will he get it at the next event? Will he have to wait longer? Will he ever get it? I'm sure that if Chaos management don't hand him his rightful title match, he'll do whatever he wants to take it. After all, who's going to try and stop him? Wild Boar vs Jimmy Havoc - King of Chaos Championship (Ref: Mark) Main event time and the crowd was electric for the King of Chaos. Boar has developed a huge, huge following from the Chaos faithful over the past 18 months or so since he won the first ever Heir To The Throne. His intensity in the ring is only matched by his ability to put on stellar matches time and time again. This match was no exception to that either. When you have two extremely talented guys like Boar and Jimmy Havoc against one another, only one thing can happen: Magic! A lot of people tend to forget just how good of a wrestler Jimmy is because of his history in no disqualification type matches. I defy anyone who can name five men or women on these shores better at story telling in the ring than Jimmy. Hell, name me three! It's one of the main reasons why he draws so much attention from fans, whether they're cheering or booing him. This match had it all: Drama, physicality, wrestling and most of all: A damn good story! A few minutes in, both men had found their way to the stage where they were knocking ten bells of "you know what" out of each other. Ref Mark was issuing the count and as he got to nine, Jimmy clocked Boar with a huge Acid Rainmaker on the stage. Mark counted to ten and it was announced that the match was a double count out. Jimmy, clearly incensed by this decision, ordered Mark to restart the match as a no DQ which Boar was happy to agree to. This brought complete and utter chaos (pun intended). Havoc grabbed himself a couple of chairs, Boar got one for himself and hit Jimmy in the head with it when the challenger tried to pull Boar into the ring. Boar dominated his challenger for the next few minutes after that. This domination included Boar spearing Havoc through a legless table and there was a near fall on the pin attempt. Jimmy started coming back into it with a DDT onto a chair and a few moments later superkicked a chair into Boar's face. Havoc was unable to put the champion away though. I talked about Dick Riley being tenacious earlier. I personally don't think there's a more tenacious wrestler in Chaos than Wild Boar. Everything he's had thrown at him this year and he's still fighting! That's one of the things the Chaos fans love most about Boar. The fact that he doesn't give in, and he certainly wasn't going to give in to Jimmy on this night. The brutality ended, funnily enough, with a wrestling move. Havoc looked to score with another Acid Rainmaker but Boar countered into a backslide for the three count and retained his King of Chaos Championship. After the match had ended, Havoc offered a handshake to his opponent which Boar eventually accepted. What he didn't see coming was the low blow that Jimmy hit and the Acid Rainmaker which followed leaving Boar down on the canvas. This now leads us into... Wild Boar vs 'Flash' Morgan Webster - King of Chaos Championship (Ref: Mark) As Jimmy was leaving the hall, the familiar sound of 'Flash' Morgan Webster's music hit, and out he came with his briefcase in hand. After a brief stare down on the stage with the former challenger, Jimmy seemingly gave Webster his blessing to take advantage of the carnage he'd just left in the ring. However, Morgan, sporting a sling to protect his injured shoulder, stopped as he was making his way to the ring because the King of Chaos had made it back up to his feet. What Boar didn't see coming was Richie Edwards and Danny Jones running in from behind to attack him. That's when 'The Modfather' made his way into the ring to announce he was cashing in. Ref Mark wasn't keen on the thought of a cash in under these circumstances, but he had no choice and was forced to allow it. However, that all came after a vicious assault by The Modern Culture on the champion who lay prone in the ring for Webster to pin him...1...2...KICK OUT! Boar was still alive in the match and Webster had a real look of worry on his face. He saw the title belt in the corner and picked it up to use it on the champion, but this was stopped by the referee. Boar got a long two count off of a roll up which saw Mark dragged from the ring by Richie Edwards and both he and Danny Jones issued the beat down on the outside. After another attack in the ring on the champion, who did manage to hit a spear on Jones, Webster ordered Richie to "go and get him". We were all thinking who Webster could've been talking about. Could it have been another wrestler to assist in the attack? Could it have been a ghost from Boar's past? My hope was that it would've been Mike Bird. However, it turned out to be Paz. However, it wasn't to help, he was dragged out in a headlock by Richie and forced to officiate the rest of the match. From that point on it was pretty much all Webster. He hit several knee strikes to the face of Wild Boar and ordered Paz to check to see if Boar gave up after each one. However, the tenacious Wild Boar never gives up. This prompted 'Flash' to hit one more running knee and followed it up with his version of the Guillotine Choke. As Boar faded, Paz checked on the champion. Boar's arm dropped once...twice...and as Paz held it up for the third time, you could see the despair in his face. Clearly he didn't want to be the one to cost Boar the title. Ref Mark had come back around on the outside and told Paz he had to let the arm go. He did and it dropped to the canvas for a third time meaning that 'Flash' Morgan Webster had become the new King of Chaos Champion. Much to the chagrin of a sold out Newman Hall that is. Not so much for me, though. I've been a Webster fan since I first saw him and took great pride in rubbing it in that 'The Modfather' had just taken the highest honour in Pro Wrestling Chaos! I had a bit of a smug grin all the way home (the grin was huge). Texting friends who either weren't in attendance or aren't able to get to the Bristol area that we have a new King in the land of Pro Wrestling Chaos and his name is 'Flash' Morgan Webster!
