It's a cold open with a match graphic showing are opening contest of the evening which is between two newcomers and two people I'm not very familiar with to be honest but here we go anyway
Contenders Match Dan Magee Vs Rob Lias Magee and Lias come out to the Rev Pro theme. Magee and Lias are both wearing black tights much like NJPW Young Lions do. Early on both men trade holds on the mat, then both men step up the pace with Lias hitting a big cross body and Magee nails Lias with a big back drop. Lias begins to work over the knee and slaps on a Funk Spinning Toe Hold and then Magee counters it with a small package for a close two count. Magee comes back working the arm of Lias, but Lias comes back with a knee to the head. Lias applies a Boston crab but Magee just makes the ropes. Lias targets the knee again but Magee battles back with a sling blade but nothing comes of it. Lias goes for a back stabber but Magee holds onto the top rope and powers Lias off his back. Magee then nails Lias with a rock bottom for the three and the win. Afterwards Lias argues with referee Chris Roberts and Dan Magee claiming he had his feet on the ropes but this wasn't spotted by myself as well as Roberts and Magee. Magee agrees to restart the match (like any good babyface would) and him and Lias go to shake hands but Lias kicks Magee in the gut and gives Magee a small package for the three count. Winner: Rob Lias Solid encounter between the two newcomers which was short and sweet. Liked Lias' heel turn at the end which really adds momentum to his character going forward in the ongoing contenders tourney. Singles Match Eddie Dennis Vs Josh Bodom Bodom has new entrance music as well as a new dye job to his hair but he's still as much as a dick as ever. Bodom attacks Dennis before the bell and even before Eddie can get his ring jacket off. Bodom puts the boots to Dennis and then chops away at his chest. Dennis comes back with a number of big forearms and then tosses Bodom across the ring as Bodom rolls to the outside. The two chop one another on the floor. Bodom then dives from the stairs in the bleachers onto Eddie. Back in the ring Bodom gets a 2 count and then nails eddie with a drop kick. Bodom continues to work over Dennis only taking time to pose. Bodom takes too long to get up top and Dennis cuts him off and gives him a big fall away slam from the top rope for a near fall. Inverted Atomic drop by Eddie and then a big clothesline for another near fall. Dennis nails Bodom with a black hole slam for another near fall as the crowd break out into duelling chants. Bodom comes back with a superkick and standing shooting star press for another near fall. Bodom goes for the bliss buster but Eddie counters with a forearm smash. Eddie nails Bodom with a razors edge into the corner and follows it up with a lariat and both men take a much needed breather. Both men nail one another with forearms and chops. Then Bodom nails Eddie with a spin kick and rolls up Eddie for the 1, 2 but no Roberts catches Bodom who had his feet on the ropes. Bodom doesn't sweat it and nails Eddie with a enzigiri and a bliss buster for the three. Winner: Josh Bodom Good match, Solid work by both men in the ring wise and nothing was sloppy but kind of feel it was the wrong result. Eddie Dennis was super over here and Bodom isn't the most reliable guy outside of the ring. In my opinion Eddie Dennis has more of an upside to him than Bodom who just seems to rub everyone the wrong way from the boys in the back to the fans (expect that one guy of course who is always cheering Bodom at Rev pro shows) but then I guess that's good for him as he has a lot of heat even if some of it is the wrong kind of heat of course. Tag Team Match The Revolutionists (James Castle and Sha Samuels) Vs The Contenders (Kurtis Chapman and Josh Wall) Again the contenders make their way out to the ring to Rev Pro's main theme and are wearing black tights. Castle and Samuels mock the contenders before the bell and jump them before the bell to beat down The Contenders. Then Wall and Chapman make a come back with a pair of dropkicks but Samuels takes out Wall with a spine buster while Castle takes out Chapman with a double stomp. Castle then goes for a Suplex but Chapman counters it into a small package for the three. Afterwards Sha slaps Castle and gives him a dressing down. It seems as if there is some problems within the ranks of the longest regaining RPW British tag team champions, The Revolutionists. Winners: The Contenders (Kurtis Chapman and Josh Wall) Nothing match which only existed to get over the ongoing angle between The Revolutionists. This victory did nothing in all honesty for Wall and Chapman who's win was over shadowed by the angle. Singles Match Tyler Bate Vs Dave Mastiff This match came to be after big Dave retuned to RPW at Global Wars night 2 and attacked Tyler's tag team partner Trent Seven. Early on Dave over powers Bate by continually backing up Tyler into the corner. Bate works over mastiff's arm with an arm bar, but Dave counters it into a headlock. Tyler continues to work over the arm but Dave continues to work over Tyler's arm. Nice nip up by Bate who applies a side headlock but again Dave powers his way out of the hold. Bate tries to knock mastiff off his feet to no avail with a shoulder block, but Dave does when he comes back with a big shoulder block of his own. Dave is sent to the outside and Tyler dives out on top of him and then goes back to the headlock. Dave out powers Tyler and drops him with a big back body drop and Dave begins to nail Tyler with clubbing blows to the back. Dave continues to work over the head by driving the point of his elbow into Tyler's head. German suplex by Dave gets him a near fall on Tyler and then Dave just headbutts Tyler and that looked nasty! Tyler continues to battle for his life as Dave works him over. Tyler makes his comeback with a few closed fists to Mastiff's jaw, but Dave battles back by nailing Tyler with a big right hand. Mastiff cut off bate with a knee to the gut and goes for The sit down senton but Tyler moves. Tyler recovers in time for Dave to go for another German, but Tyler lands on his feet. Big right hand by Tyler rocks big Dave and then he lariats Dave not once, twice, three but four times, yet Dave is still standing! Tyler nails Dave with a jumping European uppercut and that knocks Dave down. Tyler hoists Dave onto his shoulders for an aeroplane spin and then Tyler nails Dave with a big German suplex for a nearfall. Both men catch their breath but Tyler gets up first and goes up top but Dave rolls out of the way. Dave comes back with a big shoulder block and goes for that senton again but Tyler gets his knees up but that hurts Tyler more than it did Dave as big Dave is up first. Mastiff tries to pull up Tyler but Tyler can't stand. Mastiff then applies a Boston crab and Tyler has no choice but to tap out. Winner: Dave Mastiff I Really enjoyed this match. It had a very old school feel to it as Dave overpowered Tyler at every turn and Tyler works really well as valiant babyface trying to overcome the odds. Dave, on the other hand, works best as the big bad heel because he's actually very believable as this character because he is big and bad and nasty. Tag Team Match The Villain Marty Scurll and The Bruiser Weight Pete Dunne Vs Ryan Smile and Shane Strickland Andy Quilan interviews Marty before the match and congratulates Marty on winning the ROH TV title. Andy then asks marty basically why he turned on his LDRS tag team partner and best friend Zack Sabre Jr. Marty tells us and Andy he's The villain and he does whatever he likes and this is strictly business. Marty says he will beat Zack at high stakes then claims he's going to give Zack a dry slap and then cash in his number one contenders shot at Shibata's RPW British Heavyweight title, and take that title and drape it over one shoulder and his ROH TV title over the other and become the undisputed king of professional wrestling. Pete Dunne makes his entrance and then shakes hands with Marty. As Ryan Smile makes his entrance he is attacked by Travis Banks (who's making his Rev Pro debut at long last) and Travis, Marty and Pete triple team Ryan until Shane Steickland and Will Ospreay come out and help Ryan. Will grabs the microphone and basically says "yeah I was supposed to be in Japan today but I'm hear so let's make this a six man tag. Ryan then gets all fired up as says "let's kick your (marty,Travis and Pete) asses . He then says let's not do this now let's do it in the main event. Andy Quilan then confirms Tonights main event will be a six man tag. Singles Match Zack Gibson Vs Trent Seven Zack cuts his promo after (you know the one where he claims he's Liverpool's Number One) and predictably is booed out of the building by the cockpit crowd everytime he tries to speak which makes Trent giggle. Gibson refuses to have the match and walks to the back but comes back after a few seconds and the bell rings. The two tie up as the crowd chant "sign on, sign on, sign on, with a pen in your hand because you'll never get a job" and "Where's my car stereo?" Gibson really plays up to the boos with the crowd and the crowd really love to hate this guy. Zack goes for the Shankley gates on early but Trent counters it as the two chain wrestle on the mat. Zack slaps Trent and tells him "he's Liverpool's Number One" but Trent just laughs it off. Trent pokes Zack in the eye then Zack slaps him so Trent slaps him back. The two trade chops and forearms to the delight of the crowd, then Trent gives Zack a Saito suplex. Trent goes to dive out onto Zack, but Zack cuts him off with a forearm smash. The two battle on the outside and into the crowd and trade chops again as Trent is sitting in some poor punters lap. Trent does his chop to the ring post spot where he misses and hits the post and Zack zeroes in on Trent's sore hand. Gibson nails Trent with a top rope Suplex and then nails Trent with an enzigiri. The two go back and fourth as Trent nails Gibson with a dragon suplex then Gibson takes out Trent with another enzigiri. Again the two trade forearms and then Gibson gets hit with a Superkick by Trent. Gibson clocks Trent with a lariat and a twisting brain buster for a near fall. Gibson Locks in the Shankley gates but Trent just makes the ropes to force Gibson to break the hold. Gibson lays his elbow into the side of Trent's head and then poses as Trent hulks up. Gibson decks Trent and repeats the spot over and over again. Trent comes back with a single leg and goes for a Boston crab but chooses to stomp on gibsons skull over an over again. Both men nail one another with clothes lines over and over again but neither man goes down. Trent then nails Gibson with a forearm and a piledriver and thats all she wrote. Winner: Trent Seven Great debut for Zack he was given a great start thanks to Trent putting on a solid match for the newcomer. As for Trent he's onto bigger and better things as he's going up against TNA wrestler Trevor Lee at High Stakes on January 21st. RPW Tag Team Title Match Joel Redman and Charlie Sterling/Charlie Garrett (Champions) Vs The London Riots (James Davis and Rob Lynch) The Riots get a big pop for their debut while the champs get a small amount of boos from a small section of the crowd. Sterling and Davis start out and Sterling nails a picture perfect drop kick to Davis. Sterling does his flip out of the corner spot and nails Davis with a spinning wheel kick or a jump round kick as Eric Bischoff would say! Rob Lynch and Joel Redman are tagged in and go back and fourth with one another and then Redman nails Davis with a big back body drop Some quick tags between the champions and Redman nails Davis with a big knee drop from the top rope. Redman drops Davis with a back drop and Charlie does a standing Houston hangover to Davis for a two. Redman and Sterling are really working over Davis here and keep teasing Rob Lynch (I'm liking this new demean by the champs). Davis battles back with a suplex and tags his partner to the delight of the crowd. The two work over Sterling by whipping one another into Charlie who's in the corner. Big leg drop by Davis to Sterling and gets a two count as the challengers begin to tag in and out quickly. Lynch works over sterling with a nerve hold and then applies a rear chin lock. The Riots are really beating down Sterling and continue to work him over. A knee drop by Davis gets a two count For the riots. Sterling makes a weak hot tag which gets no reaction. Joel Redman dumps both of the riots over the top and Sterling dives out onto him (come on Charlie, sell your bloody beat down bro, don't just get up and dive out onto the riots ffs). The riots ram Redman into the ring post and back in the ring Lynch puts Redman into an STF and then a Boston crab. Redman reaches out to tag his no selling partner but can't quiet reach him. Lynch misses a spear as Redman gives him a sunset flip for a two count (just make the tag Redman). The riots cock up and Davis nails his partner and Redman makes the tag to Sterling who comes in and suicide dives out onto Lynch and gives Davis a swinging side slam for the two. The Riots double team Sterling with a forearm smash into a German suplex and then stand up Sterling for an assisted sit down powerbomb, but the move only gets the Riots a two count. The champs come back with a pair of super kicks then Sterling nails Davis with a big Powerslam for the near fall. The Riots come back with a catlapult spear but Redman just breaks up the count at two. The champs come back with a drop kick and a spear then set up Davis for there finisher as Redman gives Davis the tombstone and Sterling follows it up with a sky twister press for the three. Winners: Charlie Sterling and Joel Redman Good match with a hot finishing sequence even if the psychology lacked in some places and don't even get me started on the selling from Charlie Sterling. It was a good reintroduction for the Riots to the Rev Pro fans (who lets face it already knew who they were anyway) but why not put the belts on them here? They are a far more polished act than Sterling and Redman who it seems booker and promoter Andy Quilan is high on but not this reviewer that's for sure. But then maybe I'm being a little harsh. Singles Match: Zack Sabre Jr Vs RJ Singh Zack immediately gets into RJ face and then goes for a Arm bar immediately after the bell rings and Singh was in all kinds of trouble early on but just makes the bottom rope. Zack is very aggressive kicking at RJ Arm and shoulder. Zack applies a number of stretches to RJ and im loving this new aggressive pissed off Zack sabre jr he's just bullying Singh here. Zack nails RJ with a number of forearms then applies a head scissors. Zack stretches RJ some more as RJ screams out in pain. Zack pie faces RJ which upsets RJ who slaps the shit out of Zack which only fires up Zack some more who slaps and forearms him back then he soccer kicks him. Zack makes a brexit joke at RJ which I won't repeat here and then applies a dragon sleeper but RJ makes the ropes. Zack stands over a fallen RJ which fires up RJ who battles back with a drop kick and even Lord Gideon Gray is cheering on RJ on commentary. Zack applies a leg lock and again RJ just reaches the ropes to break the hold. Zack stalks Singh as the crowd fall silent and then Zack forearm smashes RJ over and over again but RJ won't go down. RJ gets some momentum with a forearm smash and another dropkick then a flying elbow smash. RJ fires the crowd up by going up top and hits a high cross body and enzigiri for a nearfall on Zack. RJ goes for a dvd but Zack counters into a hellsgate. Somehow Singh comes back and rolls through for a two. This only angers Zack who applies a rear naked choke while body scissoring RJ. RJ comes back with a falcon arrow for a near fall and the crowd is chanting Singh is king. Double under hook face Blaster by Singh gets another nearfall and then goes up tope but misses a swantime Bomb. Zack gives RJ a penalty kick for a nearfall and then Zack follows it up by kicking RJ over and over again to boos. RJ asks Zack for more and Zack slaps him over and over again but RJ ain't going down and tells Zack to hit him some more. RJ comes back with a back forearm and enzigiri. Then RJ gives Zack a back slide for another nearfall. Zack gets proper angry now and counters another enzigiri attempt by Singh and applies a modified rear naked choke hold but again Singh battles back. Zack doesn't sweat it and applies an octopus stretch and this time RJ has no choice but to tap out. Afterward Andy Quilan enters the ring to talk to Zack and asks him what's going through his head before high stakes show. Zack has some nice words to say about RJ and puts him over on the stick then adds "well I think it's kind of disrespectful he thinks he's even on my level. Zack then claims "he's not just the best technical wrestler in the world he is the best wrestler in the world. He says "that isn't a catchphrase or something im going to put on a t-shirt because I'm actually the best in the world. He says "wrestlers today shouldn't be more boostful about how many t-shirts they sell but more worried about learning and perfecting their craft. He's says "no one has perfected their craft like he has and "they haven't learned their craft like I have. They haven't been sweeping Dojo's like I have and they haven't traveled the world like I have and they don't train every single day like I have. Andy then asks him about Marty Scurll and Zack says "I admire how he wants to be the best in the world but I don't need to bother any more time or words on him and adds "we will do are talking in york hall on the 21st. Winner: Zack Sabre Jr Yeah if you don't know RJ isn't just a commentator for progress he's also a wrestler. The first time I saw him was in FWA in 2004 as the Little Dragon Ross Jordan but he's come a long way since those days. So I was kind of looking forward to seeing what he could do here and he put in a great performance against the technical wizard here. As you can probably tell I really liked this match or should I say the story of the match and the character development of Zack sabre jr. RJ carried his own here and doesn't seem to have missed a beat in the ring anyway and I liked how he played the washed up veteran who had one last great match left in him here. Overall this was my favourite match of the night due to its story. It currently deserves to be seen if you like that sort of thing from your wrestling. As for zacks new aggressive character I guess it had to happen after what his best friend did to him at rev pros global wars night two when Marty turned on Zack and the promo afterwards really rammed home the point of his new nonsense character. Main Event Six Man Tag The Villain Marty Scurll, The Bruiser Weight Pete Dunne and The Kiwi Buzzsaw Travis Banks Vs The Aireal Assassin Will Ospreay, Ryan Smiles and Shane Strickland Marty and Ospreay start out and I'm already having flash backs to all of there tremendous matches last year but then like a villain marty tags out and in comes Pete Dunne who exposes his new vader inspired gear which makes will slap him and Pete tags in Travis. Travis and will go all out countering and exchanging each other's moves early on then Travis cradles will for a 2 count. Travis and Will go back and fourth again but will drops him with an Okada like drop kick. The kiwi buzzsaw misses a wheel kick and Travis then tags in Pete as Ospreay tags in ryan smiles. Pete goes to work on Ryan's fingers then ryan does his multiple nip up spot but Pete just grabs his nose. It's all action and I can't keep up as its hot tags from the three babyfaces who all do spring board leg drops onto a downed Pete Dunne. Shane is in and him and Pete trade arm bars then Pete goes to work on Shane's fingers. Shane battles back with an arm drag, a head scissors and a dropkick. Shane goes to dive to the outside but Pete pulls back the ring skirt and shane gets stuck in between the ring apron and ring skirt. Banks and marty enter as does ryan and will And all six man are going at it now. Marty nails ryan with the ring apron Superkick then back drops ryan onto the ring apron. Pete works over shane and rolls him back in the ring as Travis drops will back with something (I didn't catch it and the camera man didn't either). Back in the ring marty works over shane by clawing at his face and stomps on his knees. Pete is in and he bites at Shane's fingers and then in comes Travis who just simply beats down shane with kicks and forearms. Travis stomps on shane in the corner as Pete and marty go to the outside and grab a gym bag and pull out there t-shirts. They begin to hang them up on the ropes as Travis looks on bewailed but Travis continues his beat down of shane. Marty and Pete begin to sell their shirts to members of the crowd mid match. Travis snapmeres shane and applies a chinlock. Travis then gets shane onto the ropes and drives his knee across Shane's head. Marty sees this as a perfect opportunity to sell a photo op to a fan in the front row who gladly pays them a tenner for this perfect picture. Will and ryan find it hard not to laugh over in the opposite corner. Back in the ring Pete nails shane with a brain buster and goes for his finish but shane battles back with a jumping spin kick and shane tags ryan. Ryan comes in and nails Pete with a tilt a whirl ddt. Big top rope drop kick by ryan to Pete and then a blue Thunder powerbomb for the a two. Pete comes back with a forearm smash and a saito suplex and he tags in the villain. Marty attacks will and shane and knocks them off the apron and then chops ryan. Super kick just kidding spot by marty but then ryan superkicks marty. Travis enters but is cut off by shane Strickland with a 619 to his stomach. A swinging side effect by the international king of swerve shane strickland to the kiwi buzzsaw for a nearfall. Blind tag by will who hits a standing sky twister press to Travis. Big jumping wheel kick by Travis to will and then the heels nail will with three (count em) three brain busters for the nearfall as ryan and shane break it up. A this is awesome chant breaks out and there not wrong. The babyfaces battle back with forearms then the three heels do the superkick just kidding spot all together. Then the three heels get nailed with three superkicks by the babyfaces. Cannon ball by banks to will then Pete gets will into a tombstone Piledriver position and Travis and marty superkick poor old will. Pete drops Will not once but twice with the tombstone but it only gets a two count. Marty then calls for a chicken wing by will cuts him off. All six men go all out and throw everything at one another and at this point I'm giving up this is too hard to keep up with. The crowd comes unglued at this all action sequence of kicks. Some smart ass shouts who's the legal man. Seriously dude this match was bound to suffer from the legal man syndrome wasn't it. A springboard RKO by will to Pete, back in the ring will dives to the outside onto all three heels. All three heels break the babyfaces fingers on the outside. Then the babyfaces do a number of dives to the outside onto the heels. Back in the ring shane double stomps marty for the nearest of near falls. Meanwhile Pete Dunne and will Ospreay battle to the back and it's down to marty and Travis vs ryan and shane. Back in the ring marty applies a chicken wing to ryan while shane gives Travis a Death Valley driver (DVD) onto the ring apron. Somehow ryan reaches the ropes to break the hold. Ryan gives marty the finger and then gets superkick over an over again but Ryan stays on his knees but the sixth puts ryan down for the 1,2 no somehow some way ryan smiles Kicks out at 2. Ryan and marty trade open hand slaps then Ryan gives Marty a brain buster and a crossface but marty makes the ropes. Ryan rolls over and marty is in the middle of ring but Marty counters with a roll through and has Ryan's shoulders down for the 1,2 but ryan kicks out. Ryan goes for a springboard but gets caught in the chicken wing yet again and this time ryan smiles has to tap out. Afterwards Ryan smiles extends his hand and marty considers shaking it by out comes Zack who pushes ryan aside and goes face to face with his former best Friend. On the outside Ryan looks pissed by zacks blantant lack of respect shown to him by the technical wizard but leaves. Zack then does what marty did to him and kicks marty low in the crotch to end the show. Winners: The Villain Marty Scurll, The Bruiser Weight Pete Dunne and The Kiwi Buzzsaw Travis Banks Wow that was one hell of a match probably the best match on the Brit wres scene so far in 2017. It was unreal and I'm marking out as i write this right now. It may have suffered from the legal man syndrome and if you like psychology forget it this would have made no sense to you whatsoever but who cares when the action was that damn good. Overall that was one hell of a way to kick off 2017 in Rev pro. There really wasn't anything I didn't like on this show. Yes some of the new themes aren't great and it's going to take awhile getting used to Zack sabre jr coming out to grime but they will grow on me over time. As for the in ring action well The contenders matches were all passable, the tag title match was good but wasn't as good as it could have been. Thanks to Charlie Sterling and his lack of selling for that. Tyler Bate and Dave Mastiff had a good match, Trent seven and Zack Gibson was very good as well. I Really liked the story which was told in the RJ Singh/Zack Sabre Jr match and that main event. Well words can not describe just how good it was. Basically I cannot wait now for Rev Pros return to york hall on January 21st and if your interested go and check it out live and in person as tickets are still available on www.revolutionprowrestling.com if not subscribe to RPW on demand on pivot share and as always I'll sign off with see you at the matches. @Billy_Jay83
