This week ICW is on the road emanating from Wales, we have two matches set up on last weeks show with the Bucky Boys taking on Polo Promotions and Zack Gibson challenging Kenny Williams for his Zero G championship. Also on tonight's show two WWE Uk talents collide when the Brusierweight Pete Dunne takes on Wolfgang.
Simon Cassidy welcomes us to the show as the crowd chant IC-dub and sound well up for the show, our first match is set for one fall currently in the ring with Simon Cassidy is Josh Holly and I have a feeling that he may be in for a bad time. Josh Holly vs Iestyn Rees ** Before the match Rees asks for a mic and lets the crowd know that he “Fucking loves being in Cardiff” and the crowd are quick to let him know they love having him. He calls Josh to the middle of the ring and says he's going to let him have a fighting chance, a woman from the crowd screams “FUCK HIM UP” which gets a chant going in the crowd and Rees chuckles to himself and says “maybe I won’t then”. Once the crowd settles Rees lays out his terms he says to make it fair on Holly, he only has to pin Rees for a 3 count but Rees has to pin him for a 5 count (Somewhere a shiver runs down the back of Big E Langston) or he can’t take the second option save himself a beating and just walk backstage right now, the crowd boos this option. Holly fires himself up and gets in Rees’s face, Rees pushes him off but Holly responds in kind and the smile is now gone from Rees’s face. Not much of a match to speak of, Rees turns round and lariats Hollys head clean off, he follows it up with a spear, the crowd chant one more time and he obliges cutting Holly in half as Rees poses for the crowd they chant five more times and he relents and motions for just one more. He charges Holly when he eventually struggles to his feet in the corner but Holly gets the boot up! It doesn’t knock Rees down but it creates enough space for Holly to go to the second rope and attempt a crossbody, but Rees catches him in midair carries him to the middle of the ring and hurks him into a suplex position before hitting a michinoku driver and put his foot on Holly's chest for the 1,2,3,4 and 5. Winner by pinfall Iestyn Rees Not much of a match to speak of but just serves to let everyone know what kind of a man beast they are dealing with in Iestyn Rees. Rees poses for photos with his catch of the day, grabbing Holly by the ankle and holding him up like an angler with his prize winning fish and we cut to the back. Backstage we find Lionheart addressing BT Gunn. He says he saw Gunns tweet earlier today saying tonight he will break his losing streak. Lionheart tells him not to focus on the match tonight but to think about what happened the last time they met and Lionheart left with his hand raised, he also invites him to get used to his losing streak because he is on a roll now. Up next we have what could well be match of the night Pete Dunne vs Wolfgang *** 1/2 Crowd very much behind Dunne as we get under way here, the bell rings and Wolfgang is on the apron still messing with his hair and jacket so Dunne simply walks across the ring and kicks his leg out from under him through the ropes, the ref admonishes Dunne but he gives it a Toru Yano shrug and walks back to his corner. Wolfgang gets back in the ring and trash talks Pete before sucker punching him and beating him down in the corner. Wolfgang comes off the ropes and after a few drop downs Dunne decapitates him with a lariat, crowd is 100% behind Dunne at this point. Mirroring the spot from last week's title match Dunne picks up the ref and charges Wolfgang using him as a battering ram and knocks Wolfgang out of the ring. Wolfgang hops onto the apron to argue with the ref over the legality of using another man as a weapon but Dunne dropkicks him off the apron into the barricade on the outside Dunne hops to the apron and delivers a PK followed by a running high knee off the apron to knock Wolfgang down, Dunne motions for the ringside security to come to him and he picks him up and uses him as a battering ram. Then Dunne motions to a member of the crowd to come over the barricade who happily obliges Dunne hurks him up into a fireman's carry position and runs him into Wolfgang, Dunne asks for another member of the crowd to jump the barricade but the fan somehow manages to clamber over the barricade lose his footing and land on his own head. As the fan is bigger than Dunne he motions for Dunne to jump into his arms which he does but as the fan is running at Wolfgang he stumbles and drops Dunne who carries on and hits a kick on Wolfgang before turning round and throwing a kick at the fan as he clambers back over the barricade. The crowd chants you fucked up at the fan and Dunne joins in. Pete is hoisted by his own petard as he goes to do the HHH water taunt on the ropes Wolfgang appears and pulls his legs out from under him dropping Pete hard on the apron. He rolls back into the ring and whips Pete hard into the turnbuckle and then goes for a pin but only gets a one fall as the crowd chant naughty wolfie. Wolfgang fights for a suplex but Dunne fights back and manages to turn it into a release suplex of his own. They run each other into the corners until Dunne hits a huge dropkick and a back suplex dropping Wolfgang in the middle of the ring. As Wolfgang gets to his feet Dunne charges him and Wolfgang tries for a back body drop but Dunne doesn’t go all the way over and transitions into a choke., which he then works into a keylock and works some arm manipulations until Wolfgang powers out and hits a vertical suplex. Dunne manages to pull himself up in the corner and Wolfgang charges him only for Dunne to get the boot up in the corner before hopping to the middle rope as he takes to the sky though Wolfgang charges and nails a huge spear in midair for a 2 count. Wolfgang lets Dunne up but starts walking him to the corner with hard forearms to the head but Dunne starts firing up and walking back into them begging Wolfgang for more before firing back with one of his own that sends Wolfgang flying from the middle of the ring to the corner. Dunne whips Wolfgang to the corner but it gets reversed and as Dunne runs into the corner he flips back over the following Wolfgang who turns around and hits a pump kick on Dunne who answers with a stiff enziguri then goes to the ropes but as he comes back Wolfgang pops up and turns him inside out with a lariat. Wolfgang goes to the top and leaps into his senton bomb known as the howling but Dunne shifts himself on the mat and as Wolfgang lands Dunne locks on a cross arm breaker. Wolfgang fights quickly to the ropes but Dunne bites the fingers using every second of his five count before breaking. Pete turns to argue with the ref and Wolfgang shifts himself to the apron on the outside, Dunne pull him back in but as he does Wolfgang hits a shot to the gut which double Pete over and we can see Wolfgang has brass knucks on. Wolfgang goes to knock Dunne out but Dunne pull the ref in the way and Wolfgang hesitates, Wolfgang pushes the ref out of the way and Dunne delivers a low blow and gets in position for the pedigree, Dunne showboats with some DX chops but Wolfgang uses this time to escape and cracks Dunne in the jaw with the brass knucks and gets the pin. Winner by pinfall Wolfgang. The action in this match was good, after opening up with comedy they transitioned into some very crisp wrestling, not a fan of the finish and you get the feeling that given more time these two could put on a much much better match. We cut to what looks to be an alleyway somewhere in Cardiff and find Bird and Boar talking strategy for their match with Modern Culture next week. Iestyn Rees shows up and tell them about his victory earlier tonight and Mike Bird begins to address the camera. He says he's starting to get sick because they keep having to go and find their own challengers for the titles and he's been itching for a fight so next week he will be twice as pissed off he and Iestyn leave and Wild Boar barks at the camera until we cut back to the arena. As we cut back Lionhearts entrance video is playing so it looks like we’re straight on to our third bout of the evening. Lionheart vs BT Gunn ** 1/2 It's the oddity vs the fanny here as the fans greet Lionheart chanting Lionheart is a fanny as he tries to act like he doesn’t care. It takes Lionheart a good few minutes to get back in the ring once Gunn comes out and once he does Gunn offers him a fist bump Lionheart goes to bump with one hand but then quick as a flash pops BT Gunn in the mouth with the other dropping Gunn. They trade shoulder blocks off the ropes until Gunns speed proves to much for Lionheart and he hits springboard crossbody and then rains in the punches on the mat. Lionheart staggers to the corner and moves as Gunn charges in Lionheart then goes to come off the ropes opposite but Gunn follows him and clotheslines him to the outside. Gunn whistles to get Lionhearts attention and goes for a slingshot to the outside but Lionheart moves out of the way and Gunn stops himself on the apron and signals for a pk from the apron but Lionheart sees it coming and blocks the kick dropping Gunn on his face on the apron. Lionheart works Gunn around ringside until he throws him back in the ring and then gets in the face of a woman at ringside. Back in the ring Gunn manages to get a boot up and then goes for a second rope dropkick but Lionheart side steps it and Gunn crashes to the mat, Lionheart uses this time to lean back out of the ring and flip off the woman in the crowd and continue talking smack. Lionheart picks Gunn up and hits a scoop slam followed by a standing leg drop for a two count and then ties Gunn up in the ropes twice raking at the eyes while Gunn is totally helpless, he then whips Gunn hard into the turnbuckles knocking him to the ground. Lionheart gets his boot in Gunns throat in the corner and just grinds him down until Gunn fights his way back out of the corner with a series of hard chops he tries to shoot Lionheart in the ropes but Lionheart reverses it, Gunn flips over Lionheart and delivers a series of kicks and a hard standing enziguri right to the ear knocking Lionheart to a knee. Lionheart gets back to his feet and charges Gunn in the corner who gets two feet up and pushes Lionheart off before rolling through into a flatliner for a two count. Gunn hits double knees in the corner and then a jumping knee to the head but as he goes for a third strike Lionheart moves and hit two Yakuza kicks in the corner in a row as he goes for a third Gunn comes out of the corner with a super kick and then follows it up with a spring board cutter out of the corner for a 2.9 count and the crowd go crazy. BT gets Lionheart up on his shoulder but he fights out and hits a uranage for two. Lionheart picks up BT and motions for a styles clash the move that broke Lionhearts neck but BT fights out but then gets caught by Lionheart who hits another uranage for another two count. This time Lionheart nails BT Gunn with the styles clash and casually rolls over into the pin but Gunn kicks out this time at 2.9 and Lionheart recoils away in shock. Lionheart crawls to the top rope and before he goes for the frog splash he flips someone off in the crowd but that moment of distraction gives Gunn the time to get his knees up and he hits the technodrome which is very similar to Bray Wyatts Sister Abigail but Gunn wraps his arm around the opponent's head like a DDT and he gets the pin. Winner by pinfall BT Gunn We see that the person Lionheart flipped off in the crowd was none other than Joe Hendry who we haven’t seen since Lionheart booted him in the head at Barramania. Joe Hendry paces up and down outside the ring while BT Gunn celebrates in the ring and as soon as he leaves Joe slides into the ring mic in hand and tells Lionheart to get up. He says he warned Lionheart not to mention his personal life again and he just kept bringing it up but only when Joe wasn’t around so on his day off he drove to Cardiff to let him say it to his face and he begs Lionheart to say it again even going so far as to slap him. Mark Dallas comes out from the back to get between the two and Lionheart skulks away. Joe says he proved his point and tells Dallas to enjoy the show and the rest of the tour and as he is leaving the ring Hendry says “Unsanctioned match at Shugs Hoose Party sounds like a grand idea to me” so it looks like we will see Hendry vs Lionheart again but this time with no rules at Shugs Hoose Party. Backstage we hear from Wolfgang who says his display tonight shows why he is the big bad wolf and the most dominant competitor currently in ICW. In a few weeks in London he gets a match with Jack Jester a man he’s faced all over the country but the difference is that it's a falls count anywhere match so it's up to Wolfgang how much damage he wants to do to Jester and where he wants to do it, Jack Jester career is on the way down and next week Wolfgang ends it. Straight back to the ring for the introductions for our semi main event and it's sure to be a cracker Polo Promotions vs The Bucky Boys ** 1/2 Polo promotions make the mistake of playing to the crowd and the boys take the opportunity to get a cheap shot in early and start the dismantling of Jackie Polo. Jackie fights valiantly against the boys outside but the numbers catch up with him and they both run him into the post head first and hard. Stevie Boy slides in and gets a two count on Mark Coffey who is still down from the superkick that laid him out in the opening seconds of the match, he instinctively crawls to a corner but it's the wrong corner and with his partner down on the outside the attack continues. The boys grind down Coffey with kicks punches and head locks, every time Mark seems to be about to make a come back they rakes the eyes and take the advantage back, until Davey shoots him off into the ropes Coffey drops behind and goes for an O’connor roll but Davey shrugs him off and turns round into a volley from Coffey. Both men are down but the crowd will Mark to the tag and Jackie Polo comes in and runs roughshod with a series of rights a huge monkey flip sending Davey boy from one corner to the other, he basks in the crowds awe but Stevie boy makes a grab for him from the apron, while Stevie and Jackie are arguing Davey charges in and accidently knocks his partner off the apron. He turns round into a series of scoop slams and a crossbody from the second rope for a two count. Jackie continues the onslaught with a series of right hands and knife edge chops in the corner before shooting Davey across the ring and as he rebounds off the post hits a big back body drop. Stevie comes in to break up the momentum and breaks up a submission on the mat but Mark Coffey comes in and drops Stevie with a hard forearm. Davey spears Jackie and goes to do the same to Mark but he and Stevie are busy trading go behinds, at one point Davey gets a bit to close and Mark takes a moment to drop him with a forearm and sensing he is in danger Stevie runs to the ref causing him to not see him low blow Coffey. He comes off the ropes to hit Jackie Polo but he's managed to regain his feet and hits a lovely tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Davey hits a big spinebuster on Jackie and then paint brushes him a few times to drive home his superiority but this only serves to fire up Jackie who answers back with a series of rights. He shoots Davey to the corner who tries to float over the onrushing Polo but he gets caught halfway and dropped with a big shoulder breaker which Jackie turns straight into a crossface in the middle of the ring. Davey reaches over to the ropes but Polo catches his arm and transitions into the Rings of Saturn. Stevie tries to come off the top to break up the submission but Mark Coffey catches him in midair and hangs him in the tree of woe in the corner. Jackie Polo hits a running headbutt to Stevie in the corner and then they hit an elevated German suplex on Davey for the three and Polo Promotions beat the reuniting Bucky Boys. Winners by pinfall Polo Promotions This match felt a little flat I don’t think it was the right match for the crowd as they didn’t really react to either team and you can put on the greatest match in the world but if the crowd isn’t into it then its only really going to feel average at best. We see a clip from earlier in the tour in Leicester with Zack Gibson about to get in his car and go home with Kenny Williams Zero G title. Mark Dallas catches him just before he drives off and tells him to return the belt as it's not his. Zack says he won the title in a scramble match and was not beaten for the belt so in his mind this title is rightfully his and its Dallas’s fault that he can say that because he's the one booking stupid multi man matches. He gets into his car and drive away as Dallas shouts after him the he will get that belt back. In the ring we see Zack Gibson come out for the Zero G open challange wearing the belt and he takes the opportunity to remind the crowd that he is Liverpool's number one soon to be recognised as the UK's number one and so on and so on as the crowd boos furiously until Kenny Williams music hits and the champ makes his entrance, shoulder taped and steel chair in hand. He launches the chair at Zacks head and creams him with it, he follows up with a stalling dropkick through the ropes knocking Zack over the barricade and then a crossbody off the post over the barricade and into the crowd and the match is underway. Zack Gibson vs Kenny Williams for the ICW Zero G Championship *** They fight through the crowd out of the building and into the adjoining bear garden, Zack cuts Kenny off with a kick to the midsection but Kenny throws Zack into a fence and scales a brick wall and wipes out the security and Zack Gibson with a cross body. He follows up by cracking Zack in the head with a fan's beer (plastic cup) and out of desperation Gibson fights back with a low blow. Zack locks on the Shankly gates on Kenny tapes up arm and he taps furiously but the ref says it can’t count out here it needs to happen in the ring. They brawl back into the building and eventually the ring, Zack rolls Kenny in but he takes a second to talk trash to the crowd and Kenny hits a desperation suicide dive and nails Gibson before rolling him into the ring. Kenny goes to the top and hits his top rope back elbow but only gets a two count. Kenny charges Gibson who sits him in the corner kicks out his leg hits a forearm and then a rope hung lungblower for two, Gibson stays on Williams and the ref has to pull him off multiple times to check on the champ. Kenny gets a little bit of separation and tries to use his speed to hit a tornado ddt but Zack stops him mid move and hurks him up for a twisting suplex for two. Zack works over Kenny shoulder and tries to lock on the Shankly Gates in the middle of the ring but Kenny switches out of it and they trade go behinds Zack creams Kenny who hits a rebound lariat but there's not enough behind it, Kenny then explodes with a pumpkick and runs off the ropes building up enough momentum to manage to hit a wheelbarrow facebuster and turn Zack over but he can’t hold the legs with his injured shoulder and Zack kicks out at two. Kenny sets up a chair in the middle of the ring and pulls Zacks arm through to try and get some pay back from Leicester but Zack low blows Kenny with his free arm and wedges the chair in the corner. Zack pulls away the shoulder tape from Williams and goes to throw him shoulder first into the chair but Williams slides out of the ring and Gibson gives chase. Williams uses the separation to again try for the wheelbarrow facebuster but Gibson just drops him in the middle of the ring and locks on the Shankly gate, Williams fights and fights and just about makes it to his feet but Gibson starts raining down elbows to the injured shoulder and Williams drops to the mat. Gibson pulls Williams up and goes again to throw Williams into the chair shoulder first but Kenny manages to slow himself in the corner and the on charging Gibson goes headfirst into the chair. Williams uses his last molecules of energy to spring off the ropes and hit his tornado ddt and hook the leg for the three count before collapsing clutching at his injured shoulder. Winner by Pinfall and still ICW Zero G champion Kenny Williams Good match with a mixture of highflying, crowd brawling and hardcore spots. Williams shoulder seems to be hanging on by a thread and you feel if Gibson gets another shot and is just focused on getting the pin rather than ending Williams career he could well take that belt away from him, but can Gibson put his appetite for punishment aside long enough to put Williams away? Pretty good show this week and at just an hour in length a nice little side dish for your weekly wrestling feast. Nothing on this show really stood out as must see wrestling but nothing was bad enough to make you wonder why you were watching. So until next week keep it too hot to handle, too cold to hold. @Juliejwl777
