Fight Club: PRO returned for its second Tekkers show on August 25th at its newish WRESTLEHOUSE the Starworks. The show had another solid line up as Fight Club: PRO champion Chris Brookes finally defended his title against former champion Travis Banks.
Also scheduled for this show was The 'Session Moth' Martina's big grudge match with DAN Moloney and PWG Champion Chuck Taylor faced BritWres legend, Mark Haskins It's back to the VOD reviews for this show as I could not make the show in person. The first new thing I noticed was a brand new fancy HD Screen above the aisleway but it's your usual cold open and were straight into the action. Six Person Tag Team Match: House Fight Club: PRO (Kyle Fletcher, Omari, and Millie Mckenzie) Vs Fire Ant, Mark Davis and The International King of Swerve Shane Strickland This was a fine sprint style match to open up the show. Highlights early on saw Davis and Fletcher go out and kill one another with some stiff strikes. Omari and Strickland had a nice high flying exchange as well as Millie and Strickland. It was then diving time as all six busted out their best dives which really popped the crowd. You could gripe about the legal man syndrome this match had but then it's so common in today's BritWres that I just sound like a broken record when I mention it. There was the big triangle suplex spot which always gets over big in these matches and then the Aussies were back to killing one another with strikes. Shane nailed Omari with a swinging DDT then got a near fall on Millie with his cutter. Everyone was in and out of the ring, nailing one another with a variety of moves. There was a spot where everyone did RKO's out of nowhere. The team of Fire Ant, Strickland and Davis all took turns to nail Fletcher with Swanton Bombs for a near fall. Then Shane and Mark hoisted Kyle and Omari up onto their shoulders and Fire Ant climbed on top of them. Fire Ant came off with a double foot stomp but missed Mille and then Omari and Kyle gave Davis and Strickland Reverserana's. Omari gave Strickland a superkick then Fire Ant fired up on Omari with some vicious looking strikes. Millie drilled Fire Ant with a Sliced Bread Number Two before Omari hoisted up Fire Ant and drilled him with the O-Zone for the one, two and three. This was a fun opener which set the tone for the show perfectly. Bring on match number two. Winners: House Fight Club: PRO (Kyle Fletcher, Omari, and Millie Mckenzie) Singles Match: Session Moth Martina Vs Dan Moloney If you expected a five or 6 and a half star classic here then you would be wrong as It was supposed to be the light comedy relief match that Martina is becoming so bloody good at in Fight Club: PRO, but at times I found myself wincing at DAN's beat down of Martina. There was some fun to be had when Martina gave DAN a vag flip but there was this prolonged vicious beat down by DAN which I found unsettling at times. I know it was designed to tell the story of the DQ finish but I found it unwatchable at times. Session Moth had a decent babyface comeback but it got cut off too quickly. DAN nailed Joel which brought out Shay. DAN was distracted for long enough for Martina to low blow him for the three count. Joel Allen returned and ruled that Martina is still the winner but by disqualification. Afterwards, DAN attacked Shay with a sit down powerbomb. Martina revived Shay then Shay announced he was going to face DAN at Project Mayhem. Then the golden couple of BritWres embraced with a hug and Shay carried out Martina in his arms like in the movie An Officer and a Gentlemen. Let's hope next time Dan gets his comeuppance when he faces Shay at Project Mayhem as that seems like the only logical finish to this feud which has kind of soured me after enjoying its hot start. Winner: Session Moth Martina by DQ Singles Match: David Starr Vs Jordan Devlin I really wanted to like this match more as it had my 'Favourite Wrestler's Favourite Wrestler' David Starr in it but I found this match to be a little dull in places. They did some things which weren't very memorable and which lead to the inevitable finish of Jordan going over clean with a package piledriver. Winner: Jordan Devlin No DQ 4 Way Tag Team Match: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Vs Bowl-A-Rama (Splits McPins&Lylod Katt) Vs The Hunter Brothers (Jim & Lee Hunter) Vs The Anti-Fun Police (Chief Deputy Dunne & Los Federales Santos Jr) This was what you would expect it to be nothing more than pure carnage. It was your usual walking brawl as Callous Hearts took it to the three teams who answered their open challenge. Havoc decided to fire a staple gun staple into that young whipper snapper Federales Santos Jr's hand. Back in the ring, Callous Hearts gave paper cuts to the Anti-Fun Police and poured raw alcohol into the cuts of Chief Deputy Dunne and Santos Jr. There was a long spot where Jimmy teased doing that monkey flip spot he did on Joey Janela recently to Jim Hunter but kept getting cut off even by his own partner. The eight men then brawled around ringside and back into the ring which is customary in every hardcore match. Bowl A Rama decided to put some tape on their bowling ball and then rolled it into thumbtacks. They then bowled a perfect seven-ten split into Clint Margera balls. The Hunter's did all their sick double team tag moves to Chief Deputy Dunne then Federales Santos Jr drilled Lee Hunter with a second rope sunset flip powerbomb. Havoc worked over Dunne with a frying pan and then dropped Dunne with an Acid Rainmaker to pick up the win. Winners: Callous Hearts (Jimmy Havoc & Clint Margera) Singles Match: Chuck Taylor Vs Mark Haskins This was a decent match to kick off the second half of the show but then you would expect it to be if it involves the incredibly underrated Chuck Taylor and one of many BritWres legends on the scene who can still legit go. Early on they slowed the pace down as both men worked over each other's arms and worked more of a chain wrestling based style. Both men picked it up towards the end as Chuck did a big dive. Back in the ring, Mark continued to soften Chuck's arm up for his arm bar finisher but the PWG champion had something left as he got near falls with a Falcon Arrow and a Moonsualt. The finish saw Chuck go for his awful waffle but mark countered it into a Sharpshooter and the PWG champion was trapped and was forced to tap out clean to Haskins. Winner: Mark Haskins MAIN EVENT Fight Club: PRO Title Match: Chris Brookes (Champion) Vs Travis Banks Brookes got a positive heel reaction during his entrance which was a plus for this reviewer he's a heel in Fight Club: PRO people so boo him. During the introductions, Brookes attacked Banks and the pair began to brawl all over the building. Banks did his cannonball on top of Brookes who was sat on some punters chair. Brookes superkicked Banks who fired back up with one of his own. Brookes grabbed a chair and throw it into Banks' direction but he caught it. The action returned to the ring and the bell rang. Brookes worked over Banks' shoulder with a devastating nerve hold then stomped him over and over. Brookes went for his wet willy spot but Banks countered and began running into Brookes with running uppercuts and a cannonball for a near fall. A sweet looking bridging German by Travis got him a two count on Brookes who battled back with a German of his own for a two count. Both men exchanged strikes while on their knees then fired up and exchanged big kicks with one another. Another German by Brookes which Banks no sold and popped right back up. Banks nailed Brookes with a double stomp to the back of his head and then did the Coast-to-Coast drop kick for a near fall. Banks went for a Slice of Heaven but Brookes cut him off with a big knee and a Michinoku Driver for a two count. Banks fired back up for his series of dives out onto the champion. Brookes battled back and dropped Travis with a back drop onto the edge of the ring. Brookes rolled Banks into the ring for a two count. Brookes looked puzzled and went under the ring and pulled out a steel chair. Shay pleaded with Brookes to drop the chair but then Shay grabbed it annoying the champion. He shoved Shay but there was Banks who nailed Brookes with a Kiwi Krusher for a near fall. Brookes hoisted up Shay onto his shoulders and tossed him off and Shay accidentally hit Banks with the #CCK finisher the assisted code breaker. Brookes was irritated that this didn't get him a three count took out shay. Kyle Fletcher came out and went face-to-face with the champion. He grabbed the chair while Brookes spat at him then Kyle accidentally hit banks with the chair. Brookes covered Banks as Joel ran out and counted one, two...but no, Banks kicks out! Brookes was upset now but up popped Banks who nailed Brookes with a Slice of Heaven for a near fall. Banks floated over and applied a crossface and Brookes tapped out. Shay recovered and ordered for the match to restart. It quickly restarted and Brookes rolled up Banks for the surprising three count. This was a very good main event but I felt it had a convoluted finish but then it sort of protected Banks and made Brookes look like even more of a cock than he is. So there is that going forward I guess. Still, doesn't do much for me as Brookes going forward as the champion. I get it he's a heel so sometimes they have to book shit like this but maybe just maybe there was a better way to get there than this. Winner: Chris Brookes (And still Fight Club: PRO Champion) Another good show courtesy of Fight Club: PRO. I'm kind of sick to death of writing this nonsense involving Brookes but I get it so I'll try to not do the same here. Really enjoyed the sprint opener that was quality viewing as well as Haskins vs Sexy Chucky T. The callous hearts walking brawl was fun also sorry chief but it was. Also enjoyed the main event until the finish but I can't say I found much enjoyment in the session moth/Dan Moloney match and I didn't think I would find myself saying that when the feud started. Also didn't really enjoy the Starr v Devlin match but then I pointed out why above. Again thanks for reading my review and if you disagree with me then I'm sorry or if my review which was kind of bitter sweet has made you want to go and check out Fight Club:PRO then head over to Vimeo and purchase the show for 7.50 or DVD at Fight Club:PRO big cartel for a tenner then go and do that now. As always I'll end this review with I'll see you at the matches...or should I say Project Mayhem at the end of the month. @Billy_Jay83
