June 23rd, 2017
Portobello Town Hall, Edinburgh On June 23rd Discovery Wrestling continues it's run of action packed events with more tournament bouts, more debuts and more dream matches taking place as only Discovery can do. The big match is The Kings of Catch officially teaming up for the first time in a Discovery Wrestling ring when they take on a dream team of Joe Coffey and Joe Hendry. The catch with this one is that if Joe Squared win, Joe Coffey gets another shot at Lewis Girvan's Y Division Championship. If the Kings win then that's it for Joe Coffey. He will no longer get a title shot as long as Girvan is champion. Take a look at the title calibre involved in this match. Discovery Wrestling Y Division Champion Lewis Girvan, WrestleZone Tri-Counties Champion Aspen Faith, WCPW Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry and ICW World Heavyweight Champion Joe Coffey. Star studded, all in one match. Worth the ticket price alone. Another match on this line up that is glittering with gold is the first of two Women's Championship Tournament matches. Pro Wrestling: EVE Champion Sammii Jayne against PROGRESS Women's Champion Toni Storm. A match that looks great on paper and will be glorious in the ring. The second Women's Championship Tournament match sees a re-imagining of Bete Noire, a darker, more dangerous version. Jayla Dark makes her Discovery re-debut against someone who hasn't been in Discovery for over a year in Lucy Cole. Cole will be looking to show the Discovery faithful that she has learned a thing or two since her last appearance. We'll find out who will be joining Martina and Nina Samuels. The Headbanders have been tearing it up in Reckless Intent, a popular duo who have worked hard to earn themselves a spot in the Uncivil War contenders. Mills and Grady take on a team that have been running roughshod over Disco since they debuted, since they lost to Polo Promotions they have become more and more hungry to dish out punishment and angry about losing, so hangry. The winners will move on to face Fight Club, Deviation & Dave Conrad and one other team in Uncivil War. A big opportunity for both teams to be crowned Discovery Wrestling Tag Team Champions. The latest Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational qualifier takes place with the added intrigue, Dave Conrad will face a wildcard entry. The last wildcard entrant in this tournament turned out to be Matt Riddle so anticipation is high to find out who will be the one taking on 'The One True Alpha'. Could it be a return or another debut? The winner will join Chris Ridgeway, Mikey Whiplash and Aspen Faith in the next round. Plus Lucha Underground star Angelico returns when he takes on the debuting Joseph Connors. Connors is still riding the wave of momentum following his WWE debut in the United Kingdom Tournament. All this and Christopher Saynt has suggested an appearance. Perhaps the patriarch of the House of Saynt will be out recruiting. Tickets are still available from Discovery Wrestling's online shop http://shop.discoverywrestling.com and will be On Demand where we will be reviewing the event shortly afterwards. Announced: Angelico vs Joseph Connors Uncivil War Qualifier – The Headbanders (Rob Mills & Jackie Grady) vs Buffet Club (Gene Munny & Rob Cage) Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational Qualifier – Dave Conrad vs [Wildcard] Women’s Championship Tournament – Lucy Cole vs Jayla Dark Women’s Championship Tournament – Sammii Jayne vs Toni Storm Kings of Catch (Lewis Girvan & Aspen Faith) vs Joe Coffey & Joe Hendry

The Corn Exchange, Edinburgh
On May 7th Discovery Wrestling return, recovered from the events of The Elite but there is plenty of fallout that this show will go some way into resolving. A lot of new faces and plenty of tournament matches, it's going to be another wild one! Michael Chase has been after Christopher Saynt for quite a while now and on May 7th he has his chance when he teams with a former member of the house, Lou King Sharp. They take on Saynt along with the first son of the house Theo Doros. Saynt has been finding Chase a nuisence that he can't seem to get rid of, blocking his quest to sit atop of the Discovery mountain. Chase seems adamant that Discovery Wrestling should be Saynt-free and is stopping at nothing to get his hands on The Patriarch. After the events of The Elite, Joe Coffey demanded a Y Division Championship match against Lewis Girvan. After a cool down and revaluation of his target, Coffey will face Girvan's cohort 'The King of Catch' Aspen Faith with the intentions to keep Faith from interfering in another title match between himself and Girvan in the near future. This could be a fantastic technical match with two highly skilled wrestlers, or Coffey may want to punish Faith for his past actions. There will be little mercy shown by the Iron Man and the only thing Faith may catch is an iron fist…to the face. Discovery Wrestling are currently holding three concurrent tournaments, the Uncivil War tag team tournament, the Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational and a Women's Championship Tournament. Four tournament matches are taking place on this show so we'll start with the Women's Championship Tournament match. Since turning on her BAE Sammii Jayne, Debbie Sharpe has shown a vicious mean streak having battered Sammii several times since. She faces the debuting Nina Samuels. Fans of Discovery Wrestling may not be familiar with Nina Samuels but may recognise her face from the entrance video of The Buffet Club of which she is a member. Both ladies will be vying to join Candice LaRae into the next round, with Sammii also in this tournament it wouldn't be crazy to think she might be watching her former BAE very closely in this one. Uncivil War will be a four way tag team bout held later in the year with Kid Fite and Liam Thomson, Fight Club, already qualified. The next match is between two vastly difference teams. The big and powerful Dave Conrad and Deviation against the meaty(?) Fabulous Bakewells. In the words of Jim Ross this will be bowlin' shoe ugly. Onto the Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational, where there will be two tournament matches held on this evening. First up, a match that could be the dark horse for match of the night when Mark Coffey takes on Chris Ridgeway, this will be Ridgway's Discovery debut whereas Mark has competed in both singles and tag team action at previous events. The Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational pits some of the best wrestlers in the UK plus a couple international guests in the mix as we'll discuss in a sec. Ridgeway and Coffey are two of the best and this tournament match up will only showcase that fact further. The second tournament match up on this show is a mouthwatering match, Mikey Whiplash makes his Discovery Wrestling debut against Matt Riddle, who is doing the same. Whiplash vs Riddle is a dream match up to many and to see it you have to get to Discovery. Riddle is the first Wild Card entrant in the Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational, and what a Wild Card! One of the hottest names in independent wrestling against one of the most prolific. This encounter will be a beautiful masterpiece mark my words. Finally, Lewis Girvan defends his Y Division Championship in a puzzling four way elimination match. Many thought that Girvan would be defending against Joe Coffey following the events of The Elite show but he's been placed into a four way against three past four way elimination match winners. Entrants include highflyer Lucha DS, the rebel LJT and the technical Danny Boy Rodgers. An impressive mix of talents all vying to dethrone the current Y Division Champion. When first announced this looked like an easy defence for Girvan but the more you look into the wrestlers involved it's clear to see that Lewis Girvan will be in for a rough night trying to continue as Discovery Wrestling's Y Division Champion. Tickets are still available from Discovery Wrestling's online shop http://shop.discoverywrestling.com and will be On Demand where we will be reviewing the event shortly afterwards. Discovery Wrestling are **All About The Wrestling** and this line up certainly shows that. Matches Announced: The House of Saynt (Christopher Saynt & Theo Doros) vs Michael Chase & Lou King Sharp Joe Coffey vs Aspen Faith Women's Championship Tournament: Debbie Sharpe vs Nina Samuels Uncivil War Qualifier: The Fabulous Bakewells vs Dave Conrad & Deviation Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational: Mark Coffey vs Chris Ridgeway Hotter Than Hell Edinburgh Invitational: Mikey Whiplash vs Matt Riddle Y Division Championship - Four Way Elimination: Lewis Girvan (c) vs Lucha DS vs Danny Boy Rodgers vs LJT April 12th, 2017 - Corn Exchange, Edinburgh
Since January 30th, the landscape has been buzzing around Discovery Wrestling. On January 30th, Discovery Wrestling announced that The Young Bucks were returning to Edinburgh…but they weren't coming alone. Hot off his Meltzer rated 6 Star match with Okada, Kenny Omega was making the journey to the capital to join his Elite comrades. For a company still so young, Disco have been kind enough to bring in some of the biggest names in independent wrestling. They're on the pulse and know what fans want, which is sometimes missing for other companies. After their incredible start in March, all eyes are at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on April 12th but with a line up like this then it will surely be another monumental show to add to the many before it. So how to do you take advantage on having three of the biggest names in the independent world of wrestling, how about putting them in one match. A colossal six man tag team match perhaps. Maybe pick three of the most incredible talents in Scotland. How about the current Y Division Champion Lewis Girvan, the 'Best Young Wrestler' (and OSWtv Wrestler of the Year 2016), maybe add the 'Iron Man' in professional wrestling Joe Coffey (OSWtv Monthly Poll Wrestler of the Year 2016), so that's two…to complete the trio, how about one of the most popular wrestlers in the country BT Gunn. Three of Scotland's best facing the mighty Elite in a match billed as The Elite vs Team Discovery but there is more to this story… In March, Lewis Girvan stole a win against Joe Coffey thanks to some timely interference from Aspen Faith which signalled The Kings of Catch coming to Edinburgh. You have Girvan and Coffey on the same team on April 12th and it's damn certain that Joe won't be forgiving Girvan for taking a short cut to get past him. That leaves BT Gunn in the middle, he's only had few matches in Discovery Wrestling but doesn't back down from a challenge, Omega vs Gunn is a dream match for many so we'll surely get a glimpse of that during this. This could be a game of one-upsmanship between Girvan and Coffey or an implosion of elite proportions. Either way, it will have all eyes glued on the ring. If you thought that was the only mega match, then you are mistaken my friend, former and current Ring of Honor Television Champions collide when 'The Aerial Assassin' Will Ospreay makes his Discovery Wrestling debut against 'The Villian' Marty Scurll. Discovery has already seen the Ring of Honor World Championship defended, perhaps the Television Championship will be added to that list? Two of the best in the world who are no strangers to each other, this match would be worth subscribing to Discovery Wrestling On Demand alone. Alone is what Michael Chase will be on April 12th in punishment for his direct disobedience in March, he will face an opponent in a match of Christopher Saynt's choosing. Last month Chase was asked by Alan Smith, one of the owners of Discovery Wrestling, to not appear at the March event as it was believed that he had not recovered fully from a recent injury. Fast forward the the event, just as Christopher Saynt had kicked Lou King Sharp out of The House of Saynt and set Theo Doros onto him, Michael Chase jumped the barrier and attempted to assault The Patriarch. After some delibiration, it was decided that action would be taken. Saynt is a master of manipulation, will it be Theo Doros, the muscle for The House of Saynt or a new member? Perhaps Saynt will look to the past and recruit his former Gatecrasher brother Dave Conrad to teach Chase a lesson or two, maybe it'll be someone unexpected or another debut to Discovery. So many possibilities and options available. Unless Saynt decides to divulge his pick beforehand, we can be pretty sure that Michael Chase won't know what's coming, leaving him at a disadvantage, which is how Saynt likes it. Two debutants face off when the monstorous Amazon, Ayesha Ray, takes on the widely popular 'Session Moth' Martina. The Irish lass Martina has been quickly making a name for herself as she takes on someone that has been around a while but makes her debut at Discovery. This certainly won't be setting women's wrestling back 5 years with this collision of two very different wrestlers. You have the power of The Amazon and the tomfoolery of Martina, but more often than not that creates some fantastic moments and matches. Jackie Polo is another debut for Discovery on April 12th as he joins Mark Coffey to take on Buffet Club. This will be Buffet Club's first match in Discovery since picking up the One To Watch award at the Discovery Awards in November. They'll have an eye on Uncivil War, this match hasn't been announced as a qualifier for Uncivil War so this could be a tune up for both teams should they be competing in a qualifier down the line. Buffet Club may've bit off more than they can chew as Polo Promotions like their McFlurry's with all the toppings. The last match announced sees Joe Hendry, who has seemed to have returned to being the Local Hero we all know and love. He faces another debutant in Liam Slater. Those May know Slater through WCPW but he has made appearances in PBW and ICW recently. Could Slater get an upset victory over the Local Hero Joe Hendry...Local Hero? Rather shockingly there are still tickets available at shop.discoverywrestling.com so go get one and see the biggest event in Discovery Wrestling history. Matches Announced: Polo Promotions (Jackie Polo & Mark Coffey) vs Buffet Club (Gene Munny & Rob Cage) Session Moth Martina vs The Amazon Ayesha Ray Micheal Chase vs ??? w/Christopher Saynt Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll Team Discovery Wrestling (Lewis Girvan, Joe Coffey & BT Gunn) vs The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) |
