On the night of January 13th 2017, ATTACK! Pro Wrestling returned to The Frog and Fiddle in Cheltenham for their third instalment of Club 100. Club 100 events showcase the best that ATTACK! has to offer from the present stars as well as the future. With a stacked card of five matches, including an ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship main event, the fans in attendance were certain to be in for an absolute treat!
The night kicked off with host Jim Lee introducing the new ATTACK! 24/7 Champion, Warren (check out Billy Johnson's WRESTLEHOUSE review in the Fight Club: Pro section to find out how Warren won the belt). Jim talks to Warren about that night in Wolverhampton when the unthinkable happened and Warren won the belt. However, just like a Randy Orton RKO, Mondai Lykos came out of nowhere and locked a Sleeper Hold in on Warren who tapped out. With the title being on the line twenty four hours a day, seven days a week (hence the name of the title), Lykos became the new champion! Mondai Lykos vs Ryan Smile - ATTACK! 24/7 Title Match Before Lykos could celebrate his title win, Ryan Smile came out to face Mondai Lykos for the scheduled opening bout of the night. If you've seen these two before, the match started as you'd expect with Lykos giving the crowd abuse, telling them to shut up at every opportunity. Of course, the crowd responded with the usual "Shut up, Lykos!" in reply. Smile used a lot of athleticism to try and gain the early advantage, which since he left the Anti-Fun Police has become a trademark of the 'All Day Star'. Lykos, who as every ATTACK! fan knows is clearly in cahoots with referee Shay Purser. Their friendship certainly paid off for Lykos here as he feigned a foot injury. Ryan evidently didn't believe that Mondai was legitimately injured and pulled Shay away from Lykos and backed him into a corner to give him a stern talking to. Lykos then came in from behind and rolled Ryan up for an extremely fast three count to retain the title. Ryan, clearly upset by what had just taken place, threw Shay from the ring and levelled Mondai Lykos with a huge superkick. He then called Warren back into the ring who pinned Lykos to become the new ATTACK! 24/7 Champion. How long can Warren hold onto the belt for this time? If Matt Riddle has anything to say about it, it won't be very long as he's issued a challenge to Warren. Will they square off in an ATTACK! Pro Wrestling ring? We'll all have to stay tuned to find out! Old Poppa Sunflower vs 'Extremely Confused' Drew Parker (As Tommy Drewmer) Old Poppa Sunflower made his return to ATTACK! in the next match. His opponent was Extremely Confused - Drew Parker. Drew came out on this event as Tommy Drewmer (I've been asking him to do that for a while now) and won a relatively short match with the Spicoli Driver. The match itself was fine, however it was the aftermath which was the major talking point. As ECDrew was celebrating his victory in the ring, Elijah Dahl came down from the balcony to address Drew, saying he's making a fool of himself and that the people don't really love him. He essentially offers Drew a chance to team with him. Now, keeping this PG, Drew's response to the offer was to tell Elijah to "go fornicate yourself". This clearly angered Elijah who attacked both Drew and Old Poppa Sunflower (who ended up being unmasked by Dahl). Dahl then used his belt to whip the living hell out of Drew as well as the security on hand. Elijah ended the moment when he hooked the belt through Old Poppa Sunflower's mask and held it up as a trophy. What does this mean for the land of ATTACK! Pro Wrestling now that Elijah Dahl has made his mark on the company? Is anyone going to be able to step up to stop this vicious wrestler before things get too out of hand? Will Drew Parker and Old Poppa Sunflower ever be able to gain a measure of revenge? I hope some of these questions will be answered at the next show in Bristol. Bowl-A-Rama vs The Anti-Fun Police - ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Tag Team Titles Up next was a match between Bowl-A-Rama and the Anti-Fun Police with the ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Tag Team Titles on the line. A moments silence was observed prior to the match by Bowl-A-Rama after their bowling alley was burned to the ground by #CCK prior to Club 100 THREE. Chief Deputy Dunne had absolutely no interest in observing this, unlike his partner Sergeant Banks, and attacked Splits McPins and Lloyd Katt. Personally, I love the irony of the gimmick with the Anti-Fun Police. When Ryan Smile left the team last year, I wondered how they could go on without him, but Travis Banks really does add a whole new dimension to the team. That's both in the ring and in character. The guy has more charisma than pretty much anyone wrestling in the UK right now and he's a great fit for the Anti-Fun Police! As ever with both of these teams, this was a FUN (yes, I used the forbidden 'F' word) match which had me in fits of laughter throughout. Especially the Benny Hill part of the match where Travis Banks was chasing Lloyd Katt around The Frog and Fiddle. This was brought on by Katt shooting Chief Deputy Dunne "dead" with his bowling pin. Seriously, I'll never know how they come up with some of this stuff! Bowl-A-Rama retained the titles in this one with their finishing move The Pin Racker (a reverse Spike Piledriver). It leaves the question of "Who's next for Bowl-A-Rama?" #CCK never received their rematch so surely they deserve an opportunity? Bird and Boar have been on a rampage as of late . One thing's for sure, whoever gets the title shot, it's sure to be a damn entertaining match! Bird and Boar vs 'Raving' Danny Jones and Beano Speaking of Bird and Boar, they were up next in the fourth match of the evening in what really was a "Teachers vs Students" match. Bird and Boar's opponents here were 'Raving' Danny Jones and Beano - two products of the Dragon Pro Wrestling Academy. This was the perfect match for ATTACK! Perfectly wrestled with lots of fun involved with Danny Jones' whistle. If ever you're going to show a potential new fan what ATTACK! Pro Wrestling is all about, this match would be a great place for them to start. As you may expect with the run that they've been on as of late, Mike Bird and Wild Boar picked up the win here with their double knee gutbuster/Frog Splash double team finisher. If that move has a name please do let me know (@BritWresReview on the Twitter). Personally, I do think we'll see Bird and Boar getting a tag team title shot at some stage. Whether that's in Bristol or at Cardiff Walkabout in April, I don't know. But whoever the tag team champions are when Bird and Boar get their shot better be prepared! Eddie Dennis vs Chris Brookes (w/ Mondai Lykos) - ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship Main event time now and it's the match between Eddie Dennis and Chris Brookes for the ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship. The belt, by the way, is absolutely beautiful! Mondai Lykos, of course, accompanied the 'Man From Octopus Island' to the ring to support his tag team partner. One thing I've always said about Eddie Dennis is that there's nobody in British wrestling who brings such a reaction and such passion out of an audience. Every single time 'Party Hard' hits, the audience loses their minds. That's no disrespect to people like Jimmy Havoc when he competes in PROGRESS, or people like Joe Coffey in ICW whatsoever. It's just that the people relate to Eddie and Eddie relates to the people and with that you get a great, organic pop. Not only that, he's pretty damn good in the ring, too! The match was essentially a three-vs-one affair with referee Shay Purser clearly favouring the challenger. This was no more evident than when Brookes was down on the outside of the ring and Shay administered a 20 count as opposed to the traditional ten in ATTACK! Even when Brookes hadn't made it to his feet at the count of 19, Shay wasn't willing to count to 20. Instead he jumped to the outside to help Brookes back to his feet. All the while back in the ring, Mondai Lykos was helping 'The Calamari Catch King' gain the advantage by taking out Eddie. When Eddie finally managed to regain an advantage over Brookes, he levelled him with the Next Stop Driver. However, Shay's mysterious shoulder injury reared its ugly little head once again. He really needs to get that checked out. Eddie obviously didn't take to kindly to Shay's shenanigans and went after the referee, who according to Mike Bird has a City and Guilds certificate in refereeing. I still want to see physical evidence of this! After more interference from Lykos and Purser, Eddie disposed of Lykos with a double German Suplex to he and Brookes. Shay then clocked Eddie with Mondai's baking tray but it had less than zero effect. Eddie then returned the favour to Shay and knocked him out cold. Brookes made it back to his feet, when he probably wishes he hadn't, as Eddie looked to end things with the Next Stop Driver. With Shay unconscious, Warren made his way into the ring. The delay was just enough to buy Brookes time and was able to kick out. He wasn't able to kick out moments later, though, when Eddie hit him with the Last Stop Driver to pick up the win and retain his ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship. As Eddie and Warren celebrated, The Anti-Fun Police came to the ring to take out Eddie and scare Warren out of the ring. Dunne hit Eddie with a Lung Blower and held up the ATTACK! Pro Wrestling Championship belt to end the show. What's next for ATTACK! Pro Wrestling? The next show is in Bristol at the Trinity Centre on February 25th when I'm sure some questions left over from this show will be answered. They have also announced the Kris Travis Tag Team Invitational over the weekend of March 4th and 5th which will be at Cathay's Community Centre in Cardiff. A two day event where proceeds will go towards Cavendish Cancer Care who helped Kris Travis so greatly in his brave battle with cancer. Also 'Flash' Morgan Webster will be hosting a special live episode of his 'Wrestling Friends' podcast on the morning of Sunday March 5th. To gain entry, you just simply have to make a donation to Cavendish Cancer Cure.
