April 12th, 2017 - Corn Exchange, Edinburgh
Since January 30th, the landscape has been buzzing around Discovery Wrestling. On January 30th, Discovery Wrestling announced that The Young Bucks were returning to Edinburgh…but they weren't coming alone. Hot off his Meltzer rated 6 Star match with Okada, Kenny Omega was making the journey to the capital to join his Elite comrades. For a company still so young, Disco have been kind enough to bring in some of the biggest names in independent wrestling. They're on the pulse and know what fans want, which is sometimes missing for other companies. After their incredible start in March, all eyes are at the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh on April 12th but with a line up like this then it will surely be another monumental show to add to the many before it. So how to do you take advantage on having three of the biggest names in the independent world of wrestling, how about putting them in one match. A colossal six man tag team match perhaps. Maybe pick three of the most incredible talents in Scotland. How about the current Y Division Champion Lewis Girvan, the 'Best Young Wrestler' (and OSWtv Wrestler of the Year 2016), maybe add the 'Iron Man' in professional wrestling Joe Coffey (OSWtv Monthly Poll Wrestler of the Year 2016), so that's two…to complete the trio, how about one of the most popular wrestlers in the country BT Gunn. Three of Scotland's best facing the mighty Elite in a match billed as The Elite vs Team Discovery but there is more to this story… In March, Lewis Girvan stole a win against Joe Coffey thanks to some timely interference from Aspen Faith which signalled The Kings of Catch coming to Edinburgh. You have Girvan and Coffey on the same team on April 12th and it's damn certain that Joe won't be forgiving Girvan for taking a short cut to get past him. That leaves BT Gunn in the middle, he's only had few matches in Discovery Wrestling but doesn't back down from a challenge, Omega vs Gunn is a dream match for many so we'll surely get a glimpse of that during this. This could be a game of one-upsmanship between Girvan and Coffey or an implosion of elite proportions. Either way, it will have all eyes glued on the ring. If you thought that was the only mega match, then you are mistaken my friend, former and current Ring of Honor Television Champions collide when 'The Aerial Assassin' Will Ospreay makes his Discovery Wrestling debut against 'The Villian' Marty Scurll. Discovery has already seen the Ring of Honor World Championship defended, perhaps the Television Championship will be added to that list? Two of the best in the world who are no strangers to each other, this match would be worth subscribing to Discovery Wrestling On Demand alone. Alone is what Michael Chase will be on April 12th in punishment for his direct disobedience in March, he will face an opponent in a match of Christopher Saynt's choosing. Last month Chase was asked by Alan Smith, one of the owners of Discovery Wrestling, to not appear at the March event as it was believed that he had not recovered fully from a recent injury. Fast forward the the event, just as Christopher Saynt had kicked Lou King Sharp out of The House of Saynt and set Theo Doros onto him, Michael Chase jumped the barrier and attempted to assault The Patriarch. After some delibiration, it was decided that action would be taken. Saynt is a master of manipulation, will it be Theo Doros, the muscle for The House of Saynt or a new member? Perhaps Saynt will look to the past and recruit his former Gatecrasher brother Dave Conrad to teach Chase a lesson or two, maybe it'll be someone unexpected or another debut to Discovery. So many possibilities and options available. Unless Saynt decides to divulge his pick beforehand, we can be pretty sure that Michael Chase won't know what's coming, leaving him at a disadvantage, which is how Saynt likes it. Two debutants face off when the monstorous Amazon, Ayesha Ray, takes on the widely popular 'Session Moth' Martina. The Irish lass Martina has been quickly making a name for herself as she takes on someone that has been around a while but makes her debut at Discovery. This certainly won't be setting women's wrestling back 5 years with this collision of two very different wrestlers. You have the power of The Amazon and the tomfoolery of Martina, but more often than not that creates some fantastic moments and matches. Jackie Polo is another debut for Discovery on April 12th as he joins Mark Coffey to take on Buffet Club. This will be Buffet Club's first match in Discovery since picking up the One To Watch award at the Discovery Awards in November. They'll have an eye on Uncivil War, this match hasn't been announced as a qualifier for Uncivil War so this could be a tune up for both teams should they be competing in a qualifier down the line. Buffet Club may've bit off more than they can chew as Polo Promotions like their McFlurry's with all the toppings. The last match announced sees Joe Hendry, who has seemed to have returned to being the Local Hero we all know and love. He faces another debutant in Liam Slater. Those May know Slater through WCPW but he has made appearances in PBW and ICW recently. Could Slater get an upset victory over the Local Hero Joe Hendry...Local Hero? Rather shockingly there are still tickets available at shop.discoverywrestling.com so go get one and see the biggest event in Discovery Wrestling history. Matches Announced: Polo Promotions (Jackie Polo & Mark Coffey) vs Buffet Club (Gene Munny & Rob Cage) Session Moth Martina vs The Amazon Ayesha Ray Micheal Chase vs ??? w/Christopher Saynt Will Ospreay vs Marty Scurll Team Discovery Wrestling (Lewis Girvan, Joe Coffey & BT Gunn) vs The Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson)
